Mountain Fawn Campground Introduce
For local adventurers seeking "camping near me" with picturesque views of Bear Lake, Mountain Fawn Campground, located at 5687 Eastshore Rd, St Charles, ID 83272, USA, offers a lakeside camping experience with both notable advantages and some drawbacks to consider. Situated along the eastern shore of the stunning "Caribbean of the West," this campground boasts beautiful vistas and relatively quiet beach access. However, potential visitors, particularly tent campers, should be aware of the lack of trees, thorny ground conditions, and potential noise issues.
The environment of Mountain Fawn Campground is primarily defined by its proximity to Bear Lake, offering "Beautiful views" that many visitors appreciate. The eastern shore location provides opportunities to witness the "great way to watch the sunset over Bear Lake," a significant draw for photographers and those who enjoy scenic evenings. One reviewer noted the quiet atmosphere on the beach and the relatively low number of people compared to the day-use areas, suggesting a more serene lakeside experience. However, a recurring environmental concern is the lack of trees within the campground. One visitor explicitly stated, "The campgrounds lack trees," and questioned why there couldn't be more trees for shade and separation between campsites. This absence of trees means campers should be prepared for potentially full sun exposure during the day and limited natural shade. Another environmental factor to consider is the presence of "a ton of prickly thorns everywhere," which could be particularly bothersome for those walking around campsites, especially tent campers.
Information regarding the specific services and amenities at Mountain Fawn Campground is somewhat limited in the provided reviews. One practical piece of information is that "our site requires 50 feet water hose," indicating that at least some sites offer water hookups, and campers should come prepared with a sufficiently long hose. The mention of needing a long water hose suggests that the hookup locations might be some distance from the camping pads. Beyond this, the reviews do not detail other services such as restrooms, showers, fire pits, or picnic tables. The contrasting experiences of RV campers (who might be less affected by ground conditions and noise) and tent campers suggest that the services and suitability of the campground might vary depending on the type of camping setup. It is advisable to contact the campground directly at (208) 945-2325 or +1 208-945-2325 to inquire about the full range of services and amenities available.
The features of Mountain Fawn Campground are a mix of positive aspects and areas for potential improvement, particularly for tent campers. The beautiful lake views and the opportunity to watch stunning sunsets over Bear Lake are significant features that attract visitors. The quieter beach atmosphere compared to day-use areas offers a more relaxed lakeside experience. For RV campers, the availability of sites with water hookups (requiring a 50-foot hose in at least one instance) is a practical feature. However, for tent campers, the lack of trees for shade and the uncomfortable rocky ground covered in "prickly thorns" are considerable drawbacks. One reviewer specifically pointed out that "the rocks are uncomfortable under the tent when you are walking in the tent," highlighting the need for thick sleeping pads or careful site selection to mitigate this issue. Another feature, or rather a lack thereof, is the reported disregard for quiet hours by some visitors, which can be disruptive for tent campers who are more exposed to noise than those in enclosed RVs. Despite these issues, the fact that the reviewer intends to return yearly indicates that the positive aspects, such as the lake and the sunsets, outweigh the negatives for them, suggesting a strong underlying appeal to the location itself.
Currently, the provided reviews do not contain any specific promotional information for Mountain Fawn Campground. To learn about camping fees, reservation policies, site availability, and any potential discounts or special offers, it is necessary to contact the campground directly using the provided phone numbers. Given the recurring concerns about the lack of trees and ground conditions, it might be worth inquiring if there are any plans for campground improvements in these areas. Additionally, information regarding quiet hour enforcement and any specific guidelines for tent camping would be beneficial for prospective visitors.
In conclusion, Mountain Fawn Campground offers a compelling "camping near me" option for those seeking the beauty of Bear Lake and its stunning sunsets. The quieter beach access is a definite advantage. However, potential visitors, especially tent campers, should be prepared for a lack of shade due to the scarcity of trees and potentially uncomfortable ground conditions with prickly thorns. While some sites offer water hookups (requiring a long hose), details on other services are limited. Noise from other campers disregarding quiet hours can also be a concern for tent campers. Despite these drawbacks, the loyal return of at least one reviewer suggests that the inherent beauty and tranquility of the lakeside location are strong attractions. To make an informed decision, local users are strongly advised to contact Mountain Fawn Campground directly to inquire about current rates, reservations, available amenities, and any specific recommendations or concerns for tent campers. Understanding these aspects will help ensure a more comfortable and enjoyable camping experience at this lakeside campground.

Mountain Fawn Campground Reviews
We love the campground. Beautiful views. As a side note- our site requires 50 feet water hose.
Jul 06, 2024 · Bridal KaleidoscopeI want to give it five stars and I will keep coming back here every year. The campgrounds lack trees. There is no reason why they can’t have some trees separating camp sites and there is a ton of prickly thorns everywhere. If you don’t have a camper trailer the rocks are uncomfortable under the tent when you are walking in the tent. Also people don’t respect quiet hour. Unless you have a camper trailer it doesn’t matter but for tent camping it can get loud. But for the good stuff it’s quiet on the beach and not that many people compared to try day use area. The lake is beautiful. It’s a great way to watch the sunset over bear lake. Even though it has four stars we will keep coming back yearly but they could improve it.

Sep 13, 2022 · Alicia HicksAmazing great beaches. The sites are nice. Close to the beach. Water is very shallow for a long way out so the kids can have tons of fun safely.
