South Eden Campground Introduce
Seeking a "camping near me" experience that offers a tranquil escape from the usual crowds around Bear Lake? South Eden Campground, located on North Eden Campground Rd in Laketown, Utah, presents an appealing option for those prioritizing a more secluded lakeside retreat. Situated in the Bear Lake region, this campground offers direct access to the lake and boasts individual campsites equipped with essential amenities. Based on the available customer reviews, South Eden Campground provides a relatively bare-bones but functional camping experience, emphasizing its quieter atmosphere and lakeside access.
The environment of South Eden Campground is characterized by its lakeside location on Bear Lake. Reviewers mention having the "beach mostly to ourselves," highlighting a key advantage for those seeking a less crowded "camping near me" experience. This suggests that South Eden Campground offers a more serene and private atmosphere compared to some of the larger, more bustling campgrounds in the area. However, it's important to note that the campground is described as "pretty bare," with "not much shade." This implies that the area may lack extensive tree cover, so campers should come prepared with their own shade structures, such as canopies or awnings, especially during the hotter months. While there is some lawn, it is described as "crusty patchy" in July, indicating that it might not be lush or extensive. Despite the lack of abundant shade, the primary draw of the environment is undoubtedly the direct access to Bear Lake and the potential for a more peaceful lakeside experience.
In terms of services and features, South Eden Campground offers some essential amenities to ensure a basic level of comfort and convenience. A significant advantage is that "water and power" are available at all campsites. This is particularly beneficial for RV campers and those who rely on electricity for lights or other devices. The power supply includes both 50A and regular AC outlets, catering to different power needs. Each site is also equipped with a "fire ring" and a "metal picnic table," providing designated areas for campfires and outdoor dining. These are standard and appreciated features for any camping experience, allowing for cooking over an open fire and a dedicated space for meals and other activities.
One of the notable aspects of South Eden Campground is its beach access. While the proximity to the lake is a major draw, the reviews caution that "the beach has sticks and is rocky," and "the beach is rocky so you should wear shoes in the water." Therefore, it is highly recommended that visitors bring water shoes to comfortably enjoy swimming and walking along the shoreline. Despite the rocky nature of the beach, the opportunity to have a relatively private lakeside experience seems to be a significant benefit for many campers. The absence of crowds allows for a more relaxed and intimate connection with the natural surroundings.
The restroom facilities at South Eden Campground are described as "pit toilets" or "non-flushing toilets." While they are noted to be "clean," this type of facility may not be preferred by all campers. It's an important consideration for those who prioritize flush toilets and more modern restroom amenities. However, the fact that the pit toilets are reported as clean is a positive aspect, indicating that the campground management maintains a certain level of hygiene despite the basic nature of the facilities.
One reviewer mentioned not seeing the hosts at all during their stay, while another praised campsite #7 as a "little secret." The lack of host visibility might appeal to campers who prefer minimal interaction and value their privacy. The positive comment about campsite #7 suggests that there might be particular spots within the campground that offer a more favorable experience, perhaps with better views or more space. However, without further details, it's difficult to ascertain the specific advantages of this particular site.
Based on the provided information, there are no specific details regarding additional services or features at South Eden Campground. It is unknown whether the campground offers amenities such as showers, laundry facilities, Wi-Fi access, or organized activities. The focus of the reviews is primarily on the individual campsites, the beach access, and the quieter atmosphere. Local users seeking a more comprehensive range of amenities might need to explore other "camping near me" options in the Bear Lake area.
Similarly, there is no promotional information available for South Eden Campground in the provided reviews. It is unknown whether the campground offers any discounts for longer stays, seasonal specials, or other types of promotions. To inquire about potential deals or special rates, local users would need to contact the campground directly using the provided phone numbers: (435) 946-3343 or +1 435-946-3343. It is always advisable to inquire about any potential cost savings when booking a campsite.
In conclusion, South Eden Campground offers a unique "camping near me" experience for those seeking a quieter, less crowded lakeside getaway on Bear Lake. The campground provides essential amenities such as water and power at each site, fire rings, and picnic tables. While the beach is rocky and shade is limited, the opportunity for a more private lakeside experience is a significant draw. The restroom facilities are pit toilets, which may be a consideration for some campers. Overall, South Eden Campground appears to be a suitable option for those who prioritize a peaceful environment and direct access to Bear Lake over extensive amenities and lush landscaping. Local users interested in this campground should be prepared for a more rustic experience and may want to inquire directly about site availability and any specific regulations. The mention of campsite #7 as a particularly good spot suggests that exploring different site options might be worthwhile when making a reservation.

South Eden Campground Reviews
Away from all the crowds, had the beach mostly to ourselves. It’s not a big campground, but the campsites can accommodate bigger groups. It’s pretty bare so bring some shade and your sunscreen. Water and power at all sites. Bring your water shoes as the beach has sticks and is rocky. Pit toilets. Fire ring. We loved our time here. Didn’t see the hosts at all.Little secret, shhh, campsite #7. You’ll thank me later.
Jul 10, 2024 · Andres OsorioNot much shade. The beach is rocky so you should wear shoes in the water. There is some lawn but it's crusty patchy (in July). Non-flushing toilets but they do have power and were clean. There is water and power at each site (50A and regular AC). They also have fire pits with a hinged grill and a metal picnic table. Not too many mosquitoes (probably because there were so few trees).
Jul 23, 2023 · Bryce TwedeGood location for the camping with plenty of space on each campground site. But because of strict rules and angry hosts would not recommend it or go back there. The host will run after you for any little mistake not following rules. We are all human beings not a robots. We have not received any complaints from our neighbors , everyone was pleasant and followed the rules . But when we made mistake, we were treated like criminals. It would be nice to be treated with respect. This location is good for kids and family gathering. Almost every campground had a dog and it pet friendly place. We camp quite often and this is based on the experience and treatment of hosts of other campgrounds.
Sep 05, 2017 · Leo LevAvoid this campground summer 2018The State Park website mentioned road work on Cisco Road but . . . The last four miles to the campground (from Laketown) is extremely rough and dusty. Then once in the campground you are only about 50 yards from the road that is undergoing major construction. It's like camping in the middle of a major construction project.Aside from the road construction (and the heavy smoke throughout the area) it's not a very nice campground. The lower section (lakefront) are the best sites. The sites are very large (48 feet wide) but the front 30 feet are in a dip about 2 feet lower than the back section. The site is a mix of gravel, grass and weeds and there's a water outlet on every other site.
Sep 04, 2018 · RobertCamping back to its basics. Had a very fun time. Variety of sites, with and without shade. Only warning is don't get the site next to the out house.Beach is close by to all campsites. Beach is not sandy but more rocks/ peppbles with sand.
