Willow Campground

Willow Campground Rd, Laketown, UT 84038, USA

4.0
Constantly windy. Zero wind buffer in all of the area. Had I known this I would have brought a camper/trailer rather than a tent. Ground was too sandy for stability and too rocky for desired location for tent spikes, so they needed to be braced with large rocks in order to stay put. Beautiful area I'll admit but not made for roughing it. Camper/trailer only would be recommended to stay overnight in the "Willow" and "Birch," area of the park. Waterfront is nice and sandy and fun for the kids. Late May early June the water is COLD but most kids don't care. I would have given 5 stars had it been known the only area available was best suited for campers. There IS an area best suited for tents but none were available at the time... so we got the one available which has its own water and electrical. - David “PAS” R.

Willow Campground Introduce

Looking for exceptional "camping near me" in the scenic Laketown, Utah area? Willow Campground, located on Willow Campground Rd, Laketown, UT 84038, USA, offers a picturesque lakeside setting that could be the perfect destination for your next outdoor adventure. Combining the beauty of the area with certain considerations for different types of campers, Willow Campground warrants a detailed look.

One of the standout features of Willow Campground, as highlighted by multiple reviewers, is its beautiful location. Situated near a lake with a "nice and sandy" waterfront, it offers opportunities for water-based activities and stunning views. The sandy beach appears to be particularly appealing for families with children, providing a safe and enjoyable space for them to play by the water. Keep in mind, however, that according to one reviewer, the water in late May and early June is "COLD," although they also noted that most children might not mind.

While the area's natural beauty is undeniable, one camper experienced a significant challenge due to the consistently windy conditions at the campground. They reported "zero wind buffer in all of the area" and, in hindsight, wished they had brought a camper or trailer instead of a tent. This is a crucial piece of information for potential tent campers. The reviewer also noted that the ground in the "Willow" and "Birch" areas was "too sandy for stability" and "too rocky for desired location for tent spikes," requiring them to brace their tent spikes with large rocks to keep them secure. Based on this experience, tent campers should be prepared for potentially challenging ground conditions and persistent winds in these specific areas of the campground.

Interestingly, the same reviewer mentioned that there is "an area best suited for tents" within Willow Campground, but it was unavailable during their visit. This suggests that the campground does cater to tent campers, but availability might be limited, and it would be prudent to inquire specifically about these tent-friendly sites when making a reservation. The site they were assigned, which was in the "Willow" or "Birch" area, did have the advantage of its "own water and electrical" hookups, indicating that some sites within Willow Campground are equipped with these amenities, which are typically more beneficial for RVs and campers but can also offer convenience to tent campers.

Another visitor who stayed in September described the campground as "quiet and clean" during their visit. They also mentioned that the camp host indicated it gets "crazy in the summer," suggesting that the atmosphere and occupancy levels can vary significantly depending on the time of year. For those seeking a more peaceful experience, visiting during the shoulder seasons like late spring or early fall might be preferable. This reviewer also praised the "nice beach and campground" and the "beautiful lake," further reinforcing the scenic appeal of the location.

The second reviewer did not utilize the washroom facilities and therefore could not comment on their condition. This is an aspect that potential campers often consider important, so it would be advisable to seek more recent reviews or inquire directly with the campground about the availability and cleanliness of their restrooms and showers.

Based on the available information, Willow Campground appears to offer a beautiful lakeside setting with a sandy beach, making it potentially ideal for families and those who enjoy water activities. Some campsites offer water and electrical hookups, which is a significant feature for RV and camper owners. However, tent campers should be aware of the potential for persistent winds and challenging ground conditions, particularly in the "Willow" and "Birch" areas, and should inquire about the availability of designated tent-friendly sites.
