Based on glowing reviews from fellow campers, Rex Hale Campground stands out for its pristine environment and thoughtful amenities. One visitor who stayed for four days while visiting Yellowstone described it as an "awesome campground," highlighting the well-cared-for sites and overall cleanliness. The presence of a genuinely nice and personable camp host named Tom further enhances the welcoming atmosphere, suggesting a well-managed and guest-oriented facility. The same reviewer also raved about the "amazing views" and the super quiet and relaxing ambiance, making it an ideal escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. The practicality of the campground is also noted, with clean and perfectly usable water and stable power supply, ensuring a comfortable stay for campers with various needs. Importantly, the reviewer mentioned the lack of cell service in the area, stretching from Buffalo Bill State Park to the east and the Lake Yellowstone shore to the west, which is crucial information for those who rely heavily on mobile communication. Despite this, the overall experience seems to have been overwhelmingly positive, with ample space to accommodate a 22' trailer and a quad cab truck on a single site with room to spare.
Another enthusiastic review paints a picture of a "very nice camp on the way to Yellowstone NP." Its proximity to a river is highlighted as a unique and appealing feature, adding a special vibe to the camping experience. Nature lovers will appreciate the opportunity to witness the "amazing" starry sky at night, thanks to the lack of light pollution in the area, perfect for astrophotography or simply enjoying the celestial display. The facilities at Rex Hale Campground are commended for their cleanliness, particularly the toilets. Each camping spot is described as unique and spacious, offering plenty of room for both tents and RVs. Practical amenities such as bear-resistant boxes for food storage, fireplaces, and tables are also provided at each site, ensuring both convenience and safety in this wilderness environment.
Combining these firsthand accounts, Rex Hale Campground appears to offer a compelling blend of natural beauty, well-maintained facilities, and a peaceful atmosphere. The emphasis on cleanliness is a significant advantage, contributing to a more enjoyable and comfortable camping experience. The spaciousness of the sites, capable of accommodating larger vehicles like a 22' trailer with a truck, suggests that the campground is well-designed to cater to a variety of camping setups.
The proximity to Yellowstone National Park makes Rex Hale Campground an excellent choice for those planning to explore this iconic natural wonder. Staying here allows for easy access to the park's attractions while providing a serene retreat away from potentially crowded in-park campgrounds. The scenic drive along the North Fork Highway to reach the campground further enhances the overall experience, immersing visitors in the stunning Wyoming landscape.
The unique vibe created by the nearby river adds an element of tranquility and natural charm to the campground. The soothing sounds of flowing water can contribute to a more relaxing and immersive outdoor experience. Additionally, the opportunity for stargazing due to the lack of light pollution is a significant draw for those who appreciate the beauty of the night sky.
The provision of essential amenities such as clean water, stable power, bear-resistant food storage, fireplaces, and tables ensures a comfortable and safe camping experience. The thoughtful inclusion of these features demonstrates a commitment to the well-being and convenience of the campers.
It is important for potential visitors to be aware of the limited cell phone service in the area. This digital disconnect can be a double-edged sword, offering a true escape from the constant connectivity of modern life while requiring some advance planning for communication needs. Campers should consider this when making their arrangements and inform others of the potential lack of contact during their stay.
While no specific promotional information is provided in the reviews, the positive feedback itself serves as a strong endorsement for Rex Hale Campground. Local users searching for "camping near me" who value cleanliness, spacious sites, stunning views, and a peaceful environment near Yellowstone should certainly consider this location. It is advisable to contact the campground directly at the provided phone numbers to inquire about availability, reservation procedures, pricing, and any specific guidelines or recommendations for visitors.
Given the consistently positive remarks regarding the camp host, Tom, it suggests that the management is dedicated to providing a welcoming and helpful experience for their guests. A friendly and knowledgeable host can significantly enhance a camping trip, offering assistance and ensuring a smooth stay.
In conclusion, Rex Hale Campground on N Fork Hwy near Cody, Wyoming, appears to be a gem for those seeking a memorable "camping near me" experience. Its proximity to Yellowstone, combined with its clean facilities, spacious sites, breathtaking views, and tranquil atmosphere, makes it a highly recommended option. The unique touch of the nearby river and the spectacular stargazing opportunities further elevate its appeal. Rex Hale Campground Reviews
While visiting Yellowstone for 4 days we stayed in this awsome campground. The sites were well taken care of and everything was clean. Camp host Tom was a genuinely nice guy and very personable. The views were amazing and it was super quiet/relaxing. The water was very clean and perfectly useable and the power was very stable. There is zero cell service pretty much all the way the Buffalo Bill State Park (east) and Lake Yellowstone shore (west). We had a 22' trailer with our quad cab truck and they easily fit on the site together with room to spare.
Jul 26, 2023 · D BrouwerVery nice camp on the way to Yellowstone NP. It's situated close to the river which brings this unique vibe. During night you can take photos of starry sky, which looks amaizing due to lack of light noise. Toilets are clean, every spot is unique and has planty of room for tents or RVs, bear resistant boxes to store food, fireplace and table.
Oct 10, 2023 · Piotr SzychlińskiGreat basic campground. We stayed at a tent site without electricity. There are a few vault toilets in the campground, so it's not a long walk to get to one regardless of which site you stay at. The toilets were kept clean, as well, which was very nice considering that was the extent of the bathroom facilities. The location was great, too. It is about 17 miles to the East entrance of Yellowstone. It is close to the highway, and we could hear the cars passing by, but it wasn't loud or intrusive. Even though it is a campground with multiple sites together, the sites are not right on top of each other like at some campgrounds. There was a mix of tents and RVs while we were there. There are caretakers for the grounds who live on site. They were very nice, and checked on us when we arrived to answer any questions we had. If you want camping that's almost "roughing it", but not quite, then I'd recommend Rex Hale.
Aug 18, 2017 · Casey GilmoreI chose this campground because it was the closest to Yellowstone in the direction we were heading on our road trip, and everything inside the park was booked. But holy cow! What a pleasant surprise. It sits right on the river. And the view of the surrounding cliffs and stars were absolutely phenomenal. We felt like we really lucked out. Also, the bathrooms were super clean.
Aug 03, 2020 · Kate LulinskiWay too many bugs. Camp host didn't wanna come outside to help with payment of site. Won't be staying here again. Only plus is close to Yellowstone
