River Meadow Campground Introduce
For local users searching for "camping near me" in the North Haverhill, New Hampshire area, River Meadow Campground, situated at 3125 Dartmouth College Hwy, presents a compelling option. Based on recent customer reviews, this campground is noted for its well-maintained grounds, clean facilities, and spacious campsites, making it suitable for a variety of camping styles, including RVs. Its location off the main street and proximity to a river add to its appeal, offering a potentially serene and picturesque camping experience.
The environment of River Meadow Campground is described as "beautiful" with "well manicured grounds," indicating a level of care and attention to the overall aesthetic of the campground. One visitor who stayed overnight in a travel trailer appreciated the location being "off the street," suggesting a quieter and more secluded atmosphere away from direct traffic noise. The campground's location along a river, as mentioned by another reviewer, further enhances its natural charm, potentially offering scenic views and the soothing sounds of flowing water. However, this reviewer also raised a point about potential bugs during the summer months, which is a common consideration for any riverside location.
In terms of services and facilities, River Meadow Campground appears to prioritize cleanliness and maintenance. The "bathroom/shower facilities were clean and well cared for," according to one guest, which is a crucial aspect for a comfortable camping experience. The campground also boasts "well maintained swimming pools and playgrounds," highlighting its suitability for families and those looking for recreational activities on-site. The presence of a swimming pool offers a great way to cool off during warmer weather, and playgrounds provide entertainment for children.
The campsites themselves are described as "open and roomy," which is particularly beneficial for RV travelers. One guest with a 40’ RV and an ATV trailer reported having "plenty of room to drive in," indicating that the sites are spacious enough to accommodate larger vehicles and potentially slide-outs or additional equipment. This suggests that River Meadow Campground is well-equipped to handle RVs of various sizes, which is a significant feature for those exploring "camping near me" with their recreational vehicles.
One unique point of information from a reviewer was a request to provide rabies certificates for their dogs upon arrival. While this guest had the necessary documentation, they noted that they had "never had that request made" before. This indicates that River Meadow Campground has specific policies regarding pets, and it would be wise for pet owners planning a stay to ensure they have the required documentation for their animals.
While the campground itself received high praise, one reviewer mentioned a potential consideration for those interested in ATV trail riding. They noted that while ATV trails were accessible, reaching the trailhead required driving about 6 miles on ATV-approved public roads. This guest expressed a preference for not driving on shared roads with traffic, especially through intersections. It's important to note that this feedback pertains to the accessibility of external ATV trails and "None of this reflects upon the campground of course," as the reviewer explicitly stated. However, for local ATV enthusiasts considering River Meadow Campground as a base, this information about trail access might be relevant.
The overall impression from the reviews is that River Meadow Campground is a "beautiful" and "very tidy" place to stay, offering a peaceful and well-maintained environment. The combination of spacious sites, clean facilities, swimming pools, and playgrounds makes it appealing to a wide range of campers, particularly families and RV travelers. The riverside location adds to its natural beauty, although potential summer visitors might want to be mindful of insects, as is common in such environments.
In summary, for local users seeking "camping near me" in North Haverhill, NH, River Meadow Campground offers a well-regarded option. Its key features include beautifully manicured grounds, open and roomy campsites suitable for large RVs, clean bathroom and shower facilities, and recreational amenities like swimming pools and playgrounds. The campground's riverside location provides a pleasant setting. Pet owners should be aware of the requirement for rabies certificates. While not directly related to the campground, access to ATV trails involves some driving on public roads. Overall, River Meadow Campground appears to be a quiet, peaceful, and well-maintained destination for a relaxing camping experience.

River Meadow Campground Reviews
We stayed here in a travel trailer one night in October while traveling coast to coast. I like the location being off the street. The bathroom/shower facilities were clean and well cared for. We arrived later in the day and left early the following morning so we didn't have the opportunity to check out the other amenities. We did walk around the campground while walking dogs and it was very tidy. Just FYI: we were asked to provide rabies certificates for our dogs. We had them. I have never had that request made. The campground is a great location along the river but I wonder about bugs in the summer.
Nov 10, 2024 · Terry GriffisBeautiful campground with well manicured grounds. Sites are open and roomy, I had plenty of room to drive in with my 40’ RV and ATV trailer. Well maintained swimming pools and playgrounds, quiet and peaceful. The only downside was that the ATV trails accessible required driving about 6 miles on ATV approved public roads to get to the trailhead. We’re not fond of driving on shared roads with traffic, especially when navigating through a 4 way intersection. None of this reflects upon the campground of course, just something to be aware of if planning to go trail riding
Sep 24, 2024 · James StevensA wonderful campground. You can tell that management takes a lot of pride in caring for the campground. Very clean. We were there in September and found it to be peaceful. We enjoyed the area as well, and the country store across the street. My daughter lost her watch on the playground and when we realized it and called the campground the quickly found it and mailed it out to us, making her day. Can't wait to visit again.
Sep 14, 2024 · Kara SpinnatoHidden gem. Stayed for only one night to join my sister on the maiden voyage of their new camper. Hidden right off the highway yet so peaceful. Was surprised how large the facility is and the cabins are so adorable (we walked the campground and didn't stay in one, just saw from outside). Large pool area which had 2 pools. Beautiful flowers everywhere and everything was clean and well kept. Would definitely try to book a riverside spot next time. Staff and visitors were all friendly.
Jul 30, 2024 · Stephanie KennedyWent up for the last week of the season, stayed in the large cabin. Cabin was very nice, tv was small and not good, internet was terrible and they closed the pool and hot tub for the season before the weekend started. Used to go years ago with our camper and thought by now the internet would have been fixed with the lack of cell service in the valley. Other than that and some old season campers yelling at us for going 10 mph in a 10 mph zone, we had a decent time. Could be a 4-5 star rating but going to leave it at a 3 until they fix the wifi and not close the facilities early. Didn’t get offered a discount for that either.
