River Oaks Resort Introduce
Are you searching for "camping near me" in Northern California? River Oaks Resort, located at 561 Deadwood Rd, Lewiston, CA 96052, USA, is a resort that appears to cater to those seeking a relaxing outdoor experience, particularly fishing. You can contact them at (530) 778-0220 or +1 530-778-0220. Based on recent customer feedback, the resort has new owners and is described by some as a "great place" with "wonderful people" and "great fishing," especially noted as a "fly fisherman's dream." The atmosphere is characterized as "laid-back" and "very relaxing."
River Oaks Resort's name suggests a setting near a river, likely the Trinity River given its location in Lewiston, California, which is known for its proximity to this renowned fishing river. The positive reviews highlight the appeal for fishing, particularly fly fishing, indicating that the resort's environment is conducive to this activity. The mention of a "laid-back atmosphere" and being "very relaxing" further suggests a tranquil natural setting where guests can unwind and enjoy the outdoors. The beauty of the Trinity River area, with its surrounding forests and scenic landscapes, likely contributes to the overall appeal of the resort's environment.
However, it is important to acknowledge a past negative review that detailed serious allegations, including theft of mining equipment and documents, as well as mishandling of delivered packages. This review also mentioned a domestic violence incident where the reviewer felt the owners took sides. While this review seems to predate the positive comments about the "new owner," it is crucial to include this information for an objective overview.
Based on the positive reviews, River Oaks Resort seems to emphasize the outdoor experience, particularly fishing. While specific details about amenities are not extensively listed in the provided feedback, we can infer some potential offerings:
- Accommodation: As a "resort," it likely offers various types of lodging, which could include cabins, RV sites, or tent camping areas. The stark contrast in the reviews regarding overall satisfaction might be linked to the type of accommodation experienced.
- Fishing Access: Given the strong emphasis on "great fishing" and being a "fly fisherman's dream," direct or very close access to the Trinity River for fishing is a significant feature.
- General Resort Services: Resorts often provide basic amenities such as restrooms, and potentially showers. The change in ownership might also have brought about changes or improvements in services.
The negative review mentioned a "maintenance man," implying the presence of staff for upkeep. However, the serious allegations in that review raise concerns about the reliability and integrity of services at that time. The subsequent positive reviews under new ownership suggest a potential improvement in the overall management and guest experience.
The standout features of River Oaks Resort, according to recent feedback, are its excellent fishing opportunities, especially for fly fishing, and its relaxed atmosphere. The new owners are praised as "great folks," contributing to a positive and welcoming environment. If you are a fishing enthusiast looking for a laid-back place to stay near the Trinity River, this resort seems to be gaining a reputation as an ideal spot.
However, prospective visitors should be aware of the past negative experience reported, which included serious allegations of theft and mishandling of personal matters. While the new ownership seems to have brought positive changes, this past feedback remains part of the resort's history as described by customers.

River Oaks Resort Reviews
I had mining equipment stolen from me there and my mining claim paperwork by their maintenance man. Now I find out some packages were accidentally delivered there with my name on it and were also kept. All this happened after a domestic violence incident that the owners took sides in. When some grabs you by the neck and slapped you in the forehead you call the sheriff.
Nov 09, 2024 · Laura HallGreat place. Wonderful people.New owner, great place. Great fishing. Fly fisherman's dream. The new owners are great folks. Laid-back atmosphere, very relaxing.
Aug 07, 2024 · Matt CrownoverIt's not a campground as much as it is a trailer park. Quiet little place that has the river very close.
Oct 21, 2024 · September WolfordI'm giving them 4 stars just to begin with. They bought 3 yrs ago but were working with limited time at the park. I'll have to get back about the RV park part. Kat & Jake are the most hospitable, Friendly, and accommodating young couple and that alone is so welcoming. They are now full time, on site, and working their butts off. Lots of improvements with more to go. A wonderful location and green, shaded Rv sites. Lush tent area right by the river. No doubt it will be an amazing asset to Lewiston. Stay tuned. I'm anxious to see what a year brings.
