Cooper Gulch Campground Introduce
Are you searching for "camping near me" in the Lewiston, California area? Consider Cooper Gulch Campground, situated on Trinity Dam Blvd in Lewiston, CA 96052, USA. This is described by a visitor as a "nice rustic campground," offering a more secluded and nature-focused camping experience compared to larger, more developed campgrounds. If you appreciate a quieter setting and a smaller camping area, Cooper Gulch might be worth exploring for your next outdoor adventure near Lewiston Lake.
One of the key features highlighted in the reviews is the size of Cooper Gulch Campground. With only five campsites, it inherently offers a more intimate and less crowded atmosphere. A visitor noted that it was "very quiet during our stay," which can be a significant draw for those seeking a peaceful retreat in nature. This small size also suggests a potentially higher level of privacy compared to larger campgrounds where campsites can be in close proximity.
The environment surrounding Cooper Gulch Campground appears to be a major attraction. Its location on Trinity Dam Blvd places it in close proximity to Lewiston Lake, a feature explicitly loved by one reviewer. The natural sounds of the area also contribute to the ambiance, with one camper mentioning being "Serenaded Avianly during the day and Amphibiously in evening with a solo performance by an Owl." This vivid description paints a picture of a campground immersed in nature, ideal for those who appreciate the sounds of birds and other wildlife. The overall pace of the area is described as "Serene and slow paced," further emphasizing the tranquil environment.
However, it is important to note some potential drawbacks mentioned by a visitor. Road noise was present, although the reviewer qualified that it was "not a heavily trafficked road." Depending on your sensitivity to noise, this might be a factor to consider when choosing your campsite, if you have that option. Additionally, the water spigots were reported as not working at the time of the review. This is a significant service issue, and it is hoped, as the reviewer mentioned, that this has been or will be repaired. When contacting Cooper Gulch Campground, it is essential to inquire about the current status of the water supply.
In terms of facilities, the campground is described as rustic. It has a "2 stall pit toilet," which is a basic amenity and might not be preferred by all campers compared to flush toilets found in more developed campgrounds. Site 4 is noted as being the only one that gets "decent shade," which could be an important consideration during warmer months. If you prefer a shaded campsite, it would be wise to inquire about the availability of Site 4 or any other sites with good shade when making a reservation.
Access to Lewiston Lake is mentioned, but it is not described as a traditional "beach" area. Instead, there is "just a tiny little boat launch." While this might not be ideal for swimming or extensive beach activities, it does provide access to the lake for boating. If you plan to bring a small boat or kayak, the presence of a boat launch, even a small one, can be a significant advantage. It is advisable to ask for more details about the boat launch's size and suitability for your needs when you contact the campground.
Given the limited information about services and features beyond the basic amenities mentioned, it is crucial to contact Cooper Gulch Campground directly to get a comprehensive understanding of what they offer to those "camping near me." As Cooper Gulch Campground is described as rustic and small, it is unlikely to offer extensive services or promotional deals typically found at larger, more commercial campgrounds. However, its appeal lies in its quiet, natural setting and proximity to Lewiston Lake. For those seeking a more back-to-nature experience away from crowds, Cooper Gulch could be a worthwhile option.
In conclusion, Cooper Gulch Campground offers a rustic and quiet camping experience near Lewiston Lake in California. Its small size, with only five campsites, suggests a peaceful retreat immersed in nature, with the sounds of birds and amphibians providing a natural soundtrack. While road noise and a non-working water supply were noted in one review, these are factors to verify when contacting the campground. The presence of a small boat launch provides lake access. For those seeking a simple, nature-oriented "camping near me" experience, Cooper Gulch Campground is worth investigating further by contacting them directly for the most up-to-date information on services, availability, and any potential fees.

Cooper Gulch Campground Reviews
This is a nice rustic campground. Only 5 campsites and it was very quiet during our stay (aside from the road noise but it's not a heavily trafficked road). The water spigots weren't working, hopefully that is something that will be repaired. 2 stall pit toilet. Only site 4 gets decent shade. There isn't really a "beach" area and just a tiny little boat launch but it worked out.

Jul 14, 2019 · Vikas KawadiaBeautiful place to park by lake to take a swim. There are only a few parking spots but not too busy. There is a ten dollar a day parking fee which goes to maintaining the area. It is adjacent to a small campground for a few motorhomes and tents lakeside.
