Russell Gates Memorial Campground Introduce
For those in search of "camping near me" that offers a tranquil escape along the banks of a picturesque Montana river, Russell Gates Memorial Campground in Bonner, MT 59823, USA, presents an excellent option. Situated directly on the renowned Blackfoot River, this campground provides a serene and idyllic setting for overnight stays and longer camping adventures. While offering a more rustic experience with limited services, its prime location and peaceful ambiance make it a favored choice for many seeking a genuine connection with nature.
An Idyllic Riverside Setting
The standout feature of Russell Gates Memorial Campground is undoubtedly its stunning location right on the Blackfoot River. Imagine setting up camp just a few steps from the water's edge, lulled to sleep by the gentle sounds of the flowing river. The opportunity to camp directly on the riverbank allows for unparalleled access to the water, providing opportunities for fishing, enjoying the scenic views, and simply relaxing in the peaceful presence of the river. Watching local fishermen drift by adds to the authentic Montana experience.
The campground's environment is characterized by its quiet and natural beauty. While the sites may not offer complete privacy, the presence of the river and the expansive views contribute to a sense of openness and tranquility. The natural surroundings provide a welcome respite from the noise and activity of urban life, allowing campers to fully immerse themselves in the beauty of the Montana landscape. The shade provided by the natural vegetation further enhances the comfort of the campsites, especially during warmer days.
Limited Services, Uncompromised Experience
It is important to note that Russell Gates Memorial Campground offers limited services. According to customer reviews, there are "no services" available. This typically implies the absence of amenities such as electrical hookups, water connections at individual sites, and potentially even restroom facilities. Campers planning to stay at Russell Gates Memorial Campground should be self-sufficient and prepared with their own water, power if needed (generators), and portable toilet if restroom facilities are not available. This more primitive camping experience is often preferred by those seeking a closer connection with nature and a break from more developed campgrounds.
Despite the lack of extensive services, the campground's appeal lies in its natural beauty and peaceful atmosphere. The focus here is on the experience of camping in a stunning riverside location, rather than on elaborate amenities. For those equipped for self-sufficient camping, Russell Gates Memorial Campground offers a rewarding and authentic Montana experience.

Russell Gates Memorial Campground Reviews
What a great campground right on the Blackfoot River. No services but we didn't need them for our overnight stay. Camped right on the riverbank and watched the fisherman drift by. I was concerned I wouldn't fit the 36' fifth wheel but had no problems. There was class A's there as well. Idyllic location.
Aug 18, 2022 · Martin CosgroveQuiet, good river access. Sites not completely private but doable with the river and the view.
Sep 19, 2024 · Terri KoletasSmall but beautiful campground right on the Blackfoot river. Best for tents or small campers. One bar of T-mobile service, Starlink was great despite the trees. First come first served. Self pay station.
Jul 08, 2022 · Martha OlneyDon't camp there unless you are rafting. If you are there we have nowhere to camp when we row up with our rafts whith all our gear.....
Jul 13, 2021 · Rick WatneNice access point for the Blackfoot. Wide but a bit rough. Easy pullout.
