Russell Pond Campground Introduce
For local users seeking "camping near me" in the scenic North Woodstock area of New Hampshire, Russell Pond Campground, located in NH 03262, offers a location known for its natural beauty and access to outdoor activities within the White Mountains region. Situated near Russell Pond, the campground is described by reviewers as a beautiful spot, providing a potentially serene environment for those looking to connect with nature. The surrounding area is highlighted for its fantastic access to numerous great hiking trails, making it an appealing base for those who enjoy exploring the outdoors on foot. The presence of Russell Pond itself suggests opportunities for water-related activities, although these are not explicitly detailed in the provided reviews.
Information regarding the specific services and amenities provided at Russell Pond Campground can be gleaned from the customer reviews. While the natural environment is praised, recent feedback indicates potential shortcomings in the campground's facilities. Multiple reviewers mention issues with the operational status of essential amenities, including toilets, sinks, and showers. One reviewer noted that many of these facilities were not working, leading to inconvenience such as long lines for the functioning ones. Another reviewer specified that the bathrooms by the pond were closed, further limiting access to these necessities. Additionally, one review pointed out that only one shower room was open and that its use incurred a fee of $2.50 for a five-minute duration. These comments suggest that while the location is attractive, the availability and quality of basic campground services might be a concern for potential visitors.
In terms of campground management and features, the reviews also provide some insights. One long-time visitor, who had been coming to Russell Pond for 40 years, noted a decline in the quality of facilities and management in the current year. A recurring theme in the feedback is the apparent lack of enforcement of quiet hours. Reviewers reported that neighboring campers were playing loud music until the early hours of the morning, disrupting their sleep. They also indicated that the campground management, or any camp host present, did not actively intervene in these situations, leading to frustration among those seeking a peaceful camping experience. One reviewer explicitly stated that if a ranger or camp host does not address loud campers keeping others awake, they would not return. Another review echoed this sentiment, stating that the camp host was not actively involved in the campground and did not enforce quiet hours.

Typically, campgrounds may offer discounts for local residents, off-season rates, or packages that combine camping with access to nearby attractions. However, without this information, it is not possible to comment on any potential promotional features. The two customer reviews offer a consistent perspective on the current state of Russell Pond Campground. Both acknowledge the beauty of the pond and the excellent access to hiking trails as significant positives. However, they also express considerable dissatisfaction with the condition and functionality of the amenities, particularly the restroom and shower facilities. Furthermore, both reviewers highlight a lack of effective management in addressing noise issues and enforcing campground rules, specifically regarding quiet hours. The negative experiences described led both reviewers to state that they would not be returning to Russell Pond Campground in the future. This feedback provides valuable, albeit critical, information for local users considering this campground for their "camping near me" needs.
Given the combination of a beautiful natural setting and convenient access to hiking, Russell Pond Campground might still appeal to some local users who prioritize these aspects of a camping trip. However, the significant concerns raised in the recent reviews regarding the operational status of facilities and the lack of enforcement of campground rules should be carefully considered. Potential campers should be prepared for the possibility of encountering non-functional amenities and noise disturbances. It might be advisable to contact the campground directly to inquire about the current status of the facilities and their approach to managing noise and enforcing rules before making a reservation. Alternatively, local users might want to explore other campgrounds in the North Woodstock or surrounding White Mountains area that have more consistently positive recent reviews regarding both their natural attributes and the quality of their services and management.
In conclusion, Russell Pond Campground in North Woodstock, NH, offers a potentially attractive location for "camping near me" due to its beautiful pond and access to hiking trails. However, recent customer reviews indicate significant issues with the functionality of essential amenities such as toilets and showers, as well as concerns about the lack of enforcement of quiet hours by the management. Local users should carefully weigh these factors and consider contacting the campground directly for the most up-to-date information before deciding to camp at Russell Pond. Exploring alternative camping options in the region might be prudent to ensure a more satisfactory and comfortable outdoor experience.

Russell Pond Campground Reviews
I have been going to Russell Pond for 40 years and didn't even think to check the reviews. The pond is still beautiful and it's a fantastic spot to access lots of great hikes... but this year the facilities and management were poor. Many of the toilets, sinks, and showers were not operational. Nothing worse than getting up in the am to go the bathroom only to encounter a line because there's only one toilet working. Also, the managers do not speak to campers who are loud until the wee hours of the night. I am all for groups having fun, but when they keep me up all night and a ranger does not come talk to them, you've lost me. Hoping something will change in the future.
Sep 03, 2024 · Lisa GundlachRussell Pond is beautiful, but the amenities provided at this campground aren't great. The bathrooms by the pond were closed, and only one shower room was open and cost $2.50 for 5 min. If there was a camp host, they weren't actively involved in the campground. Other campers do not obey quiet hours, and the camp host does not enforce the rules. The biggest issue were the campers next to us played music until the morning and the camp host did nothing about it. I will not be returning to this campground.
Jun 16, 2024 · Samantha HansonBeautiful campground with plenty of first come first serve sites. There are bear warning signs everywhere and had a bear feet away from my hammock the second night there.
Jan 29, 2025 · Dalton UberHave stayed here before and had a great experience but something seems to be up, maybe it is a new management company. Stayed this past weekend and most of the toilets, sinks and showers were closed off. The restrooms were out of tp. The water spigot by our site was also taped off. The host was out of fire wood at one point. The campground is great, the tiered sites are really fun and the pond is beautiful but there seems to be a lack of management of the place.
Jun 16, 2024 · Alison FordPros :The location and pond is absolutely beautiful.Cons:Host: tried to buy firewood, host was terribly rude, not helpful.Bathrooms: Very dirty, showers were full of hair, both on the walls, trash was never taken out from inside the shower or bathroom, same dirty wet pipes left in trash for several days.Storage: it’s posted every where that you should keep your food packed away, there is no storage units at any camp site, some sites are very steep to carry food back and forth.
