Sandy Point Resort Campgrounds Introduce
Are you searching for "camping near me" with the allure of waterfront views and a connection to nature? Sandy Point Resort Campgrounds, located at 176 Sandy Point Dr, Knotts Island, NC 27950, offers a camping experience with direct water access and promises beautiful sunsets. For local users seeking a getaway with natural beauty, this campground presents an option to consider. However, recent customer reviews provide a mixed perspective, highlighting both the scenic aspects and areas needing improvement.
The environment of Sandy Point Resort Campgrounds is a significant point of interest. Situated on the water, many campsites, as noted by one reviewer, offer a waterfront location, which can be highly desirable for its scenic views and potential for water-related activities (though these are not specified in the reviews). The sunsets over the water are described as "amazing," suggesting a visually appealing natural setting, particularly in the evenings. For nature lovers, one review mentions it as a "hidden gem," indicating that the area might be rich in natural beauty and possibly wildlife. However, another review points out that a significant portion of the property consists of permanent residences, which might influence the overall camping atmosphere. Local users can likely expect a waterfront environment with the potential for beautiful views, but should also be aware of the presence of long-term residents.
In terms of services, Sandy Point Resort Campgrounds offers both campsites and cabin rentals, as mentioned by a returning visitor who has tented and rented a cabin. The campground provides 30/50 Amp sites that have been dependable for running air conditioning units, which is a notable service for RV campers during warmer months. A small campground store is conveniently located within walking distance, offering groceries and live bait, which could be beneficial for those planning to fish. However, one negative review highlighted issues with the bathhouse, describing it as needing to be demolished and rebuilt, and noting that it did not appear to be cleaned during their stay, with concerns about cleanliness such as cigarette ashes in the sink and mold in the shower. This suggests that while some basic services like the store and electric hookups are available, the condition of other facilities might be a concern. Local users should inquire about the current state of the bathhouse and other amenities before booking.
The features of Sandy Point Resort Campgrounds include waterfront campsites, which are a major draw for many campers. The availability of 30/50 Amp electrical hookups caters to RVs. The presence of a small store on-site adds convenience for basic supplies and bait. For those not tenting, cabin rentals are also an option. However, potential drawbacks mentioned in reviews include ongoing construction noise (such as a new roof being installed on a nearby cabin during a guest's stay) and early morning noise from a loud motorcycle, likely due to the permanent residents. Additionally, the condition of the bathhouse is a significant concern raised by at least one reviewer. Nature lovers might appreciate the overall environment and the stunning sunsets. Local users should weigh these features, both positive and negative, when considering this campground.
Key features that might appeal to some include the waterfront locations of certain campsites and the "amazing" sunsets. The convenience of the small store and the availability of 30/50 Amp service for RVs are also positive aspects. However, potential campers should be aware of the reported issues with the bathhouse cleanliness and the possibility of noise from construction or permanent residents. The fact that it's considered a "hidden gem" by one suggests a certain natural appeal, but this needs to be balanced with the reported maintenance and noise issues.

Sandy Point Resort Campgrounds Reviews
The people that work in the store are really nice, but this campground needs totally renovated. Our campsite was on the water which was nice, but right next to us the log cabin was getting a new roof so we heard pounding and loud music for 2 of the days were there. That would have been nice to know! Also someone leaves well before 7 AM everyday on a loud motorcycle (the majority of this property are permanent residences). The bathhouse needs to be demolished and rebuilt and seems to be forgotten. Didn't appear to be cleaned the entire time we were there - a cigarette and ashes in the sink and the floor of the shower multiple days, mold, and smells. Wouldn't stay here again.
Apr 05, 2025 · Susan ZWe have been coming here two years now, we usually tent but have rented the cabin too. If you're a nature lover this is a hidden gem. The sunsets over the water are amazing. The 30/50 Amp sites have been dependable to run our ac unit, and it's convenient that the little campground store is within walking distance and offers groceries and live bait.
Jul 14, 2023 · Puddle DuckParadise on the water! Rustic tent sites (with elec and spigot) literally on the shore. We spent 4 lovely nights here. Some wildlife, warm bay water to swim in, fishing and clamming and crabbing. No frills, but a great camp store and friendly, helpful folks. There are many long-term residents who value the quiet and calm of an almost-untouched natural place. Some are characters, all are amiable. The weather was a little rough but bearable. The area is pretty and the markets are wonderful !
