As a featured option within the "camping near me" category, Sharp Bridge Campground stands out for its accessibility and proximity to the natural attractions of the Adirondacks. Its location on US-9 makes it relatively easy to find and access for local residents. The positive reviews highlight its convenience as a starting point for hiking excursions in the area. Imagine setting up camp and having a variety of picturesque trails just a short distance away, ready to be explored. This makes Sharp Bridge Campground an excellent choice for outdoor enthusiasts looking to immerse themselves in the Adirondack wilderness.
Based on feedback from fellow campers, Sharp Bridge Campground offers several key features that contribute to a pleasant camping experience. One reviewer specifically mentioned that their campsite was equipped with a table and a fire pit/grill, which are essential amenities for comfortable outdoor living. The convenience of having these provisions at your site allows for easy meal preparation and enjoyable evenings around the campfire. Additionally, the campground's proximity to restrooms, showers, and a water source is noted as a significant advantage, providing essential comfort and convenience for campers.
The friendly and cordial nature of fellow campers is also highlighted in one of the reviews, suggesting a welcoming and community-oriented atmosphere within the campground. This can enhance the overall camping experience, making it more enjoyable and sociable. The fact that most of the campsites were occupied during one reviewer's visit indicates the campground's popularity and suggests it's a well-regarded destination for those seeking "camping near me" in the Adirondacks.
Beyond the campground itself, its strategic location near "very nice trails" is a major draw for hikers and nature lovers. The Adirondack region is renowned for its extensive network of trails, offering varying levels of difficulty and breathtaking scenery. Staying at Sharp Bridge Campground provides easy access to these natural wonders, allowing you to spend your days exploring pristine forests, climbing scenic peaks, and enjoying the tranquility of the mountains. The proximity to these trails makes this campground an ideal choice for those whose primary goal is to experience the Adirondack wilderness firsthand.
While the focus is often on the outdoor activities, the convenience of nearby towns is also a plus. One reviewer mentioned having "a couple of nice meals in restaurants in nearby towns," indicating that while you can enjoy the rustic camping experience, you also have the option to access local eateries for a change of pace or to stock up on supplies. This balance between wilderness and accessibility can be particularly appealing to a variety of campers.
One reviewer offered a somewhat mixed perspective, noting that "some traffic noise" could be present, likely due to the campground's location on US-9. This is something to consider for those particularly sensitive to noise. However, this same reviewer also pointed out that there was "plenty of level space at campsites," which is a significant advantage for setting up tents or parking RVs comfortably and safely.
The availability of "free showers" is mentioned as a positive amenity. However, the reviewer also noted that the "bath house is pretty run down." This suggests that while showers are available without extra charge, the facilities themselves might be in need of updating. This is a trade-off to be aware of – free amenities might come with a compromise in terms of the condition of the facilities.
Another interesting piece of feedback is the comment about the "campground manager's bark is worse than her bite and the place is attentively run." This suggests that while the manager might have a stern demeanor, the campground is well-maintained and efficiently operated. This can be reassuring, indicating that despite any perceived strictness, the campground is likely organized and well-cared for, contributing to a smoothly run camping experience.

Sharp Bridge Campground Reviews
I caught up with a friend at the campsite as planned for some hiking and camping in the Adirondacks. The campsite had a table and fire pit/grill, was convenient to the restrooms, shower, and water. Most of the campsites were occupied, all visitors were friendly and cordial. It was near some very nice trails, and we had a couple of nice meals in restaurants in nearby towns. Overall a very pleasant experience.

Aug 31, 2024 · Cam FoxThe campground is just outside of the High Peaks Wilderness - an easy 10-30minute drive to the trailheads. The campsite itself was nice. It was clean, large enough for a couple of tents and car, had a picnic table, and a stone hearth for campfires. There is one centrally located building that held women’s and men’s bathrooms and I believe a couple of showers as well. The bathrooms were always clean, had running hot and cold water, and was well stocked with toilet paper, hand soap, and paper towels. The campground was clean and fairly spacious. There are water faucets scattered throughout for non-potable water. We went on a weekend during the summer, so it was full, and we didn’t hear any noise from our neighbors. However, (and this was a big one for me and the reason I’m rating it a 4) you can hear traffic coming from the nearby 87 highway. When I want to get away camping, I want to go out in nature and not be disturbed by noise, but this noise was constant - day and night. I noticed it the first minute I stepped out of the car for the first time, my friend who had been there several times didn’t seem to mind. For this reason, I’ll likely search for a different campground to try… but that’s just me.
Aug 14, 2022 · Ashley BentleyStayed here for 4 nights to access hiking in the High Peaks. Very clean bathroom facilities, pretty quiet and clean. No frills, but that is exactly what we like. We ended up with a really great site- lots of room and fairly flat. Some of the sites looked like there wasn't a lot of room to set up a tent. We will definitely be back.
