Chapel Pond Campsites Introduce
Looking for a serene "camping near me" experience in the heart of the Adirondacks? Consider Chapel Pond Campsites, located in Keene, NY 12943, USA. Based on the available customer reviews, this campground offers a beautiful and relatively secluded setting, ideal for those seeking a peaceful escape into nature. However, it's important to note certain characteristics regarding accessibility and facilities.
One reviewer described Chapel Pond Campsites as "such a beautiful site." They stayed during the week and noted the low number of other campers (only two), which contributed to a sense of privacy as they "didn’t run into each other often." The campground is also described as "well maintained and very pretty," suggesting that the natural environment is a key draw and that the grounds are kept in good condition. However, this reviewer also pointed out a crucial detail: "No privies so plan accordingly." This indicates that the campground does not offer outhouses or similar toilet facilities, which is an important consideration for potential visitors.
Another reviewer provided valuable information regarding the accessibility of different campsites within Chapel Pond Campsites. They noted that the sites "up the hill (to the left)" are closer to the road and manageable in an all-wheel-drive (AWD) vehicle. This suggests that these sites might be more easily accessible and potentially suitable for a wider range of vehicles. In contrast, they mentioned that the first two sites straight ahead are "super accessible," implying they are likely close to the entrance or main area and easy to reach. Importantly, they also stated that sites "further down the road definitely requires 4wd and some clearance!" This indicates that the campground has varying terrain and that some of the more secluded or deeper sites may only be accessible with a four-wheel-drive vehicle with adequate ground clearance.
From these reviews, we can gather a picture of Chapel Pond Campsites as a beautiful and relatively quiet location, particularly during the weekdays. The natural environment is clearly a significant draw, with the "very pretty" description suggesting scenic surroundings. The varying accessibility of the campsites is a key feature to consider when planning a visit, as your vehicle type will likely influence which sites are suitable for you. The absence of privies is another critical piece of information that requires campers to plan for their sanitation needs, potentially involving portable toilets or adherence to Leave No Trace principles for waste disposal.
To understand more about the environment of Chapel Pond Campsites, we can infer that it is likely located in a wooded or natural area given its Adirondack setting. The mention of sites "up the hill" and "further down the road" suggests some variation in elevation and terrain within the campground. Chapel Pond itself, given the name, is likely a nearby or adjacent natural feature that might offer scenic views or recreational opportunities, although this is not explicitly detailed in the reviews.
The reviews provide limited information about services beyond the maintenance of the grounds. The absence of privies has already been noted. We do not have information about water sources, fire pits, picnic tables, or any other amenities that might be available at the campsites. Similarly, there is no mention of any staff or specific services provided by a campground operator.
No promotional information is included in the provided text. Therefore, we cannot discuss any special offers or highlights intended to attract campers to Chapel Pond Campsites.
For local users searching for "camping near me" in the Keene, NY area, Chapel Pond Campsites offers the appeal of a beautiful and potentially secluded experience within the Adirondacks. The varying accessibility of sites could be a feature for those seeking either easily reachable spots or more remote locations requiring a 4WD vehicle. However, the lack of toilet facilities is a significant factor that campers must be prepared for.
To get more comprehensive information about Chapel Pond Campsites, including the number of sites, any available amenities, and details about Chapel Pond itself, potential visitors would need to seek additional information from online camping directories, local tourism resources, or possibly by contacting local authorities if this is a public or state-managed campsite. Understanding the regulations regarding camping in the area, especially concerning sanitation in the absence of privies, would also be important.
In conclusion, Chapel Pond Campsites near Keene, NY, appears to be a beautiful and potentially secluded camping location within the Adirondacks. Its features include well-maintained grounds and varying accessibility to campsites depending on the vehicle. A crucial consideration is the absence of toilet facilities, requiring campers to plan accordingly. Chapel Pond Campsites Reviews
Such a beautiful site. I stayed on a week day and there were 2 other campers. We didn’t run into each other often. Well maintained and very pretty. No privies so plan accordingly.
Jul 19, 2024 · elizabeth costelloWhat a wonderful little surprise. The sites up the hill (to the left) are closer to the road and manageable in an AWD. Straight ahead the first 2 sites are super accessible, further down the road definitely requires 4wd and some clearance!
Sep 12, 2024 · Jennifer NewbyThis camp site is something is a ‘fair enough’ to meet a goldilocks of conditions. You can camp close to your car, bring local firewood, and have some space/privacy from other campers and be close to a number of hiking paths. Its rather hidden, so driving fast will miss the driveway. There is a bit of road noise, occasional throughout the night. There are enough trees and cleared ground to setup a few hammocks. The Beede Brook looked rather stagnant (perhaps due to the 2 weeks of little rain) and the driveway to the top of the hill is very rocky - high clearance 4WD recommended. Despite the previous reviewer comment, there is a wooden privy, hidden high in the hill, albeit leaning off plumb. A fresh roll of TP and hand sanitizer was available.
Sep 30, 2024 · Eric CurleyI would seek other campsites first. If you can get the first spot on the flat, it's good. Otherwise you're hoofing your gear up to the other sites.
Oct 14, 2024 · AndrewCame here on a major holiday weekend, pulled in about 10:30pm. The lower parking lot and sights were very full, but we did manage to find a spot.I would suggest going uphill as it wasn't as parked up.There is a privy but it is in sad shape.
