Shore Forest Campground Introduce
For those in the Hop Bottom, Pennsylvania area or surrounding regions seeking a family-oriented "camping near me" experience, Shore Forest Campground, located at 121 The Driveway, Hop Bottom, PA 18824, USA, offers a range of amenities and activities designed to appeal to both children and adults. You can contact them at (570) 289-4666 or their mobile number +1 570-289-4666. Based on recent customer reviews, this campground is particularly praised as a "great place to take the kids," offering an outdoor swimming pool, playground, and organized activities for various age groups. While tent sites may be limited, the campground provides clean and spacious options, along with convenient amenities like free hot showers and clean restroom facilities.
A Family-Focused Environment with Plenty to Do
Shore Forest Campground appears to prioritize creating a welcoming and engaging environment for families. The positive feedback emphasizing its suitability for children highlights the presence of key kid-friendly features such as an outdoor swimming pool and a playground. These amenities provide ample opportunities for recreation and fun, ensuring that younger campers have plenty to keep them entertained throughout their stay. Additionally, the mention of "activities for children and adults" suggests a planned program of events that caters to a wide range of interests and age groups, fostering a lively and interactive camping community.
The owners are described as "wonderful" and making guests feel "very welcome," indicating a personal touch in the management and a commitment to hospitality. This can significantly enhance the overall camping experience, creating a friendly and supportive atmosphere for visitors. The positive interactions with the owners likely contribute to the campground's appeal, especially for families looking for a welcoming and well-managed destination.
Campsite Features and Amenities
While one reviewer noted that there are "not many tent sites," they also pointed out that the available ones are "clean and big," suggesting that while quantity might be limited, the quality of the tent camping areas is high. For RV campers, the sites are described as gravel, so bringing a rug is recommended for added comfort outside your vehicle. The presence of trees, even in a somewhat "tight" layout, is appreciated for providing shade and a sense of being in a natural environment, preventing the feeling of being too cramped.
Shore Forest Campground offers several practical amenities to enhance the camping experience:
- Free Hot Showers: The availability of hot showers at no extra cost is a significant convenience and is positively mentioned by reviewers, indicating well-maintained facilities.
- Public Campers Toilets and Clean Port-a-Johns: The provision of both traditional public restrooms and clean portable toilets ensures that campers have adequate and well-maintained sanitation options.
- Lake for Fishing and Boat Rentals: The presence of a lake offers opportunities for fishing enthusiasts and those who enjoy boating. The availability of boat rentals suggests that guests can easily access the water for recreation without needing to bring their own equipment.
- Game Room: A game room provides an indoor space for entertainment, which can be particularly useful during inclement weather or for evening activities.
- Small Store: A small store on-site offers the convenience of purchasing essential supplies, snacks, and perhaps camping necessities without having to leave the campground.
- Laundry Room: The inclusion of a laundry room is a valuable amenity for longer stays, allowing campers to wash clothes and maintain freshness during their trip.
- Free WiFi: The availability of free WiFi is a significant bonus for many campers, allowing them to stay connected, plan activities, or simply enjoy online entertainment.
These amenities collectively contribute to a comfortable and convenient camping experience, catering to a range of needs from basic necessities to recreational options.
Weekend Activities and Social Atmosphere
One reviewer who stayed over a weekend noted that there were "a little of activities going on," including bingo, wagon rides, and a pool party. This indicates that Shore Forest Campground actively organizes events to engage guests and foster a social atmosphere, particularly on weekends. For those who enjoy socializing and participating in campground activities, this can be a significant draw.
However, this reviewer also pointed out that the social atmosphere might extend into the later hours, with nighttime not really settling until around 11 PM, and the pool being crowded for most of the day. This suggests that while the campground offers a fun and active environment, those seeking a quieter and more secluded experience might find weekends to be less tranquil. The mention of "schmoozing and boozing" indicates that the weekend vibe can be quite social and perhaps lively.
Environmental Considerations
The presence of trees throughout the campground is a notable environmental aspect, providing shade and contributing to a more natural feel despite the sites being somewhat close together. This suggests an effort to maintain a pleasant and green environment for campers. The availability of a lake further enhances the natural setting and provides opportunities for water-based activities.
The gravel camper sites are a practical consideration for RVs, helping with drainage and stability. However, the recommendation to bring a rug indicates that this surface might not be the most comfortable for outdoor living directly on the ground.
Absence of Explicit Promotional Information
The provided reviews do not contain any specific promotional information such as discounts, seasonal rates, or special packages. Local users interested in such offers would need to contact Shore Forest Campground directly via phone or explore their official website if one exists.
However, the positive feedback regarding the family-friendly atmosphere, the range of amenities, and the welcoming owners can be seen as an implicit form of promotion, highlighting the key attractions of the campground.
"Camping Near Me": A Social and Active Choice in Hop Bottom
For local users in the Hop Bottom, PA, area looking for "camping near me" that offers a vibrant and family-oriented experience with a range of amenities, Shore Forest Campground is definitely worth considering. The availability of a pool, playground, organized activities, a lake for fishing and boating, and indoor entertainment options like a game room makes it a compelling choice for families with children.
The positive comments about the friendly owners and the cleanliness of the facilities, including the hot showers and restrooms, add to the appeal. The presence of free WiFi is another significant advantage for many campers.
However, potential visitors should be aware that weekends can be quite social and potentially noisy, with activities and a lively atmosphere extending into the evening. Those seeking a more secluded and quiet camping experience, particularly on weekends, might need to consider this aspect. The limited number of tent sites might also be a factor for those primarily interested in tent camping.

Shore Forest Campground Reviews
Great place to take the kids. Outdoor swimming pool, play ground, activities for children and adults. Owners are wonderful and make you feel very welcome. Not many tent sites but the ones they have are clean and big. Hot free shower's, public campers toilets and very clean port-a-johns. Lake for fishing and boat rentals. Game room, small store and laundry room. All the veteran campers were friendly and polite.
Jul 04, 2024 · Tera KolarcikNice campground with pool and hot tub. Even though it's pretty tight you didn't feel cramped because of the trees. Gravel camper sites so bring a rug. We went on a weekend and there's a little of activities going on, bingo, wagon rides, pool party etc. If you're into schmoozing and boozing then you'll have a great time. Otherwise night time doesn't really settle until 11 and the pool was packed most of the day. Free WiFi was a great bonus too!
Jul 28, 2024 · Tom SanfordSpent one night on our road trip south, site CC9. The sites are not private, luckily there were no other tenters in our area. The main road was right beside us so difficult to sleep. The camp store is only open weekends. On a positive note the toilets and showers were immaculate!
Aug 28, 2024 · ka cThis place is almost surreal…It’s a great place where kids can have a lot of fun, there’s a playground, a swimming pool, you can fish at the pond, etc. So if I was a kid and my parents brought me here I would have had a great time; it’s perfect for family gatherings and taking the kids to a place where they can run around, be loud, spend the whole day in the pool, they have a snack bar and the milkshakes and fries are amazing! The thing is, I am not a kid and I wanted peace and quiet; well, you won’t find that here. No way! No such thing, but that’s more on me, I guess.I got there 3 days after the 4th of July so my experience was kind of exceptional and from an anthropology perspective, really interesting.Everyone at the swimming pool had either stars and spangles swimming suits or blue and red patriotic outfits or t shirts with the legend: “Got Freedom?” Or “I can’t hear you over the sound of my freedom” kind of thing…. Apparently everyone there loved their country a lot. And their freedom. ( I like my freedom as well, but I think they like theirs more )The atmosphere was festive, and relaxed, people drinking beer at the pool and having fun while the kids did cannon ball competitions or play Marco Polo…After a while I realized the place is a campground but also a trailer park where people actually live, some of them seem to be veterans or something of the sort. The afternoon I was there it was bingo night and a lot of people took part in it. they seemed to have had fun. Then at 10 pm there were fireworks…. Do you know what people there love more than Freedom? Fireworks! There was and absolutely badass display of fireworks that lasted 30 minutes…30 minutes of loud, spectacular, first level fireworks… If I was a tiny dog or a sensitive pet it would have been a seemingly never ending nightmare… But I am a human and I enjoyed them; however I could not help but think about all the trash and debris that was being shot into the pond. The pond looks beautiful in pictures but is in great need of a deep clean up, not only from all the trash from the fireworks, but it also needs to be clean from a lot fishing line tangled among the lilies , fishing hooks, tackle, beer bottles, rotting algae, etc…In a few words,I won’t be coming back again because that’s not the kind of experience I look for when I am camping but I would definitely recommend it to families that want their kids to have a lot of fun!
Jul 16, 2024 · Antonio VegaWe were here for 5 nights and I am sorry to give a bad review. The pool was nice and clean all though full timers were complaining that the hot tub will never get fixed. My complaint is that the place advertises wifi and has none. Now before you beat me up for just not unplugging for 5 days, I work from my camper and they should not advertise it if they don’t have it. It wasn’t just poor or spotty service. It was completely dead, phone was on sos all week. Tried to call someone when we were out and about but no one is in the office during the week nor do they answer the phone. There was weekend activities that we found out about by over hearing a full timer mention. They seem to only cater to the full timers not weekenders. Had a great weekend with our friends but I wouldn’t go back to a place that mis advertises there campground and is just completely disinterested in weekenders. Rooms got 5 stars above because we were in our own camper. I don’t know anything about the cabins.
