Sky Lake RV & Fishing Introduce
For local residents and travelers searching for "camping near me" in the Springfield, Ohio area, Sky Lake RV & Fishing, located at 3785 Crabill Rd, Springfield, OH 45502, USA, presents itself as a potential option. However, it is crucial for prospective campers to be aware of significant concerns raised in recent customer reviews alongside a contrasting positive perspective.
One detailed and concerning review highlights a very negative experience with the campground's deposit and contract terms. The reviewer cautions potential visitors to be extremely careful, stating they were required to pay a substantial $700 deposit that they allege was never intended to be returned. According to this account, the campground utilizes a contract with confusing wording and initially indicated the deposit would be returned upon moving in. However, upon moving out, the management reportedly stated that deposits are non-refundable and cited the signed contract. Furthermore, this reviewer claims they were charged an additional $700 fee for not providing a 30-day move-out notification, despite asserting that this requirement was not specified in the contract.
This negative experience extended beyond financial issues. The reviewer also pointed out a significant infrastructural limitation: the campground reportedly has "no dump station." This is a critical consideration for RV travelers, as a dump station is necessary for the proper disposal of wastewater. The absence of this facility could pose a significant inconvenience and additional cost for RV owners staying at Sky Lake RV & Fishing, potentially requiring them to seek out dump stations at other locations.
Adding to the negative portrayal, the reviewer claimed that the campground management is unresponsive and difficult to contact, stating that "they don't even answer the phones" and that "the administration its non-existent." Such a lack of communication and accessible management could be a major concern for campers who might require assistance or need to resolve issues during their stay.
The reviewer also mentioned paying a substantial $1400 to move into this location, emphasizing the financial implications of the alleged deposit issue and the unexpected additional fee. They specifically advise travelers planning to stay for only one or two months to be particularly cautious due to these reported financial practices and the lack of clear communication.
In stark contrast to this detailed negative account, another reviewer offered a brief, positive counterpoint. This reviewer stated they were writing to "balance out the 3 star from a lady on here who didn’t even physically go to the location." They expressed their disapproval of someone allegedly leaving a negative review without visiting the premises and concluded with a somewhat unrelated and subjective remark. This second review does not provide any specific details about the campground's environment, services, or features but serves solely to question the validity of a different, unspecified negative review.
Considering these conflicting accounts, it is challenging to form a fully objective picture of Sky Lake RV & Fishing based solely on this limited information. The serious allegations in the first review regarding potentially misleading contract terms, non-refundable deposits, unexpected fees, the absence of a dump station, and poor management communication are significant red flags that prospective campers should carefully consider and investigate further.
On the other hand, the second review suggests that there might be some negative feedback that is not based on direct experience. However, without more context or details about this other review, it is difficult to assess its validity or relevance to the specific concerns raised in the first, more detailed account.
Given the information available, local users searching for "camping near me" and considering Sky Lake RV & Fishing should proceed with extreme caution. It would be highly advisable to conduct thorough due diligence before making any commitments or payments. This should include attempting to contact the campground management to discuss their policies, particularly regarding deposits and move-out procedures, and to inquire about the availability of essential amenities like a dump station.
Prospective campers might also want to seek out additional reviews from other sources to gain a broader range of perspectives on Sky Lake RV & Fishing. Checking online review platforms, social media, and camping forums could provide further insights into the experiences of other campers who have stayed at this location. It would be particularly valuable to look for reviews that discuss issues related to contracts, deposits, fees, and the availability of essential RV amenities.
Due to the serious nature of the allegations in the negative review, local users might also consider whether to prioritize campgrounds with more consistently positive and transparent feedback. The potential for financial disputes and the lack of essential facilities like a dump station could outweigh any potential benefits of staying at Sky Lake RV & Fishing, especially for travelers who rely on such amenities.
Without further information about the environment, specific services, features, or any promotional offers at Sky Lake RV & Fishing, it is impossible to provide a comprehensive introduction. The existing reviews paint a concerning picture regarding management practices and essential RV facilities. Therefore, local users are strongly urged to exercise caution, conduct thorough research, and seek clarification on all policies and amenities before considering a stay at this campground.
In conclusion, while Sky Lake RV & Fishing is listed as a "camping near me" option in Springfield, OH, the available customer feedback presents significant concerns, particularly regarding financial transactions and the absence of a dump station. Prospective campers should carefully weigh these issues and conduct thorough research before making a decision. The contrasting positive comment lacks specific details and does not address the serious allegations raised in the more comprehensive negative review.

Sky Lake RV & Fishing Reviews
ATTENTION: Never come to this campground unless you ready to give 700 for free deposit that will never be return, they use a contrat in where they word it very confusing, they told me they would return my deposit when i move in and now that im moving out they say they dont return deposits and send me a picture of the contract i signed, and said that i was going to be charge 700 as a fee for not notifiying 30 days previous and theres nothing in the contract that specified that. Be very careful i paid 1400 to move to this place that has no dump station, if you traveling and plan to stay only 1 month or 2 months be very careful, this people dont take time to explain you anything and they dont even answer the phones. The administration its non-existent.
Mar 29, 2025 · GabannaofficialI’m just writing a review to balance out the 3 star from a lady on here who didn’t even physically go to the location. Just thought she would drive by and 3 star this place. God help our country.
Mar 30, 2025 · Mathieu KingCampground was great very quiet. Never seen one so quiet and be completely full.Down side we went there to go fishing for three days and they had no bait in the bait store on site so we had to drive to the lake north of us to get bait. Fishing was really bad and the three of us cought a total of 3 fish and 1 turtle and not one other person fishing the lake cought anything.
Oct 04, 2024 · Dan AraujoI don't have any experience of actually being there and staying there, but I was looking online at full-time rving sites and decided to do a drive-by. The location is kind of out in the middle of nowhere but it is beautiful. They have some gorgeous ponds that it looks like there's a lot of fishing available. However, the sites are very small, very cramped and just visually not appealing. I guess if you were only staying a day or two, maybe if you didn't have any other plans other than to go fishing, but overall I don't think that this would be a great location.
Sep 03, 2024 · Jessica R (TrinityRisky)I stayed here full-time in my fifth wheel for two months while working in the area on a nearby job.Spots are level, water is clean, 20, 30 and 50a hookups at the pedestal.People are friendly, lake is beautiful and they keep the grass mowed. It’s quiet after 10 PM and you can get a good nights rest.Only 10 minutes away from chipotle and Walmart, 20 minutes away from Home Depot, Lowe’s, planet fitness, Texas, roadhouse, etc.I heard about some other people having issues, but management told me upfront keep the spot clean and keep the bill paid, my experience was awesome and I would absolutely stay here again. 10/10
