Enon Beach Recreation Park Introduce
If you're searching for "camping near me" in the Springfield, Ohio area, Enon Beach Recreation Park, located at 2401 Enon Rd, Springfield, OH 45502, USA, presents a local option to consider. They can be reached at (937) 882-6431 or via mobile at +1 937-882-6431. However, it's important to note that recent customer reviews provide insights that potential visitors should carefully evaluate.
Based on the feedback, the environment of Enon Beach Recreation Park appears to be significantly impacted by its proximity to transportation infrastructure. Multiple reviewers mention "very loud road traffic" and the sound of a "train whistle." The park is described as being "surrounded by two highways and a busy road," leading to a noisy atmosphere. This is a crucial environmental factor for those seeking a peaceful and quiet camping experience. While the location is noted as "convenient to USAF museum," the immediate surroundings seem to lack the tranquility often associated with natural camping environments.
The physical condition of the park is also a recurring theme in the reviews. One reviewer states, "This place is tired and a rundown," while another echoes this sentiment, saying, "In its day, I think it was probably a decent place, but it is quite run down." Specific issues mentioned include a "pretty bad" men’s bathroom and an overall sense that the park is not well-maintained. The water pressure is reported to be low at "only 30 psi," which could impact the comfort of showering and other water-related activities.
Regarding the services and features, the reviews offer a mixed perspective:
- Campsite Conditions: One reviewer "lucked out and got a pretty good site that was level and had a new 50 amp box," indicating that some sites may be in better condition than others. However, the same reviewer also noted the presence of "decrepit sites" and expressed feeling potentially "unsafe" if placed in one of them. The observation of a "total hoarders junk yard" at one site further suggests inconsistencies in site maintenance and standards.
- Long-Term Residents: Both reviews indicate that the park seems to cater significantly to "full timers" or "long term campers." This can influence the overall atmosphere of a campground, sometimes leading to a less transient and more permanent community feel. However, in this case, some of the long-term setups are described negatively, with "some trailers that are a bit scary."
- Staff: On a positive note, one reviewer found the "STaff was pleasant," which is an important aspect of customer service.
- Location: The convenience to the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force is highlighted as a positive attribute, making it a potentially suitable base for those visiting the museum.
- Utilities: The availability of a "new 50 amp box" at some sites suggests that electrical hookups are provided, at least at some locations. However, the low water pressure is a significant drawback mentioned.
A notable feature of Enon Beach Recreation Park appears to be its location relative to the USAF museum, making it a potentially convenient option for visitors to this attraction. However, this convenience seems to be counterbalanced by the reported noise levels and the rundown condition of the park and some of its facilities. The presence of long-term residents and the varying conditions of the campsites also stand out as features that prospective visitors should be aware of.
Currently, no promotional information is mentioned in the provided reviews. Campgrounds sometimes offer discounts for extended stays, special rates during off-peak seasons, or packages related to local attractions. To learn about any potential promotions at Enon Beach Recreation Park, interested individuals would need to contact them directly using the provided phone numbers. Inquiring about current rates, any discounts, and the availability of sites in better condition might be beneficial.
The overall sentiment from the reviews is cautionary. While the staff is described as pleasant and the location is convenient for a specific attraction, the negative aspects regarding noise, the rundown state of the park and facilities (particularly the bathrooms), and the condition of some campsites are significant concerns. The presence of poorly maintained long-term sites also detracts from the overall appeal. One reviewer stated they would only stay again if they could secure one of the "select few sites that were up front and visible," indicating a preference for certain areas of the park over others.
For local users searching for "camping near me" in Springfield, OH, Enon Beach Recreation Park offers a location with proximity to the USAF museum. However, the strong negative feedback regarding noise from surrounding roads and trains, the rundown condition of the park and its facilities, and the variable quality of campsites should be carefully considered. While some sites may be better than others (as evidenced by the new electrical box), the overall impression from the reviews is that the park is in need of significant maintenance and upgrades. The prevalence of long-term residents and the condition of some of their sites might also impact the experience of short-term campers.
Given the information available, it is highly recommended that potential visitors contact Enon Beach Recreation Park directly to inquire about the current condition of the facilities, the availability of better-maintained campsites, and the typical noise levels at different times of day and night. Asking specific questions about recent improvements or planned renovations might also provide a more up-to-date picture of the park. If proximity to the USAF museum is a primary concern and other options are limited, it might be worth a cautious inquiry. However, based on the recent reviews, those seeking a peaceful and well-maintained camping experience might want to explore alternative campgrounds in the Springfield, OH area.

Enon Beach Recreation Park Reviews
This place is tired and a rundown. Very loud road traffic and train whistle. The water pressure was only 30 psi. This park seemed to be mainly for full timers, and was a bit shady. STaff was pleasant location was convenient to USAF museum .
Apr 24, 2025 · marci mcgreevyStayed here for two nights while visiting the AF Museum (which is fantastic). This campground on the other hand is not fantastic. In its day, I think it was probably a decent place, but it is quite run down and the men’s bathroom was pretty bad. As stated in other reviews, there are some long term campers here with some trailers that are a bit scary. One site (I didn’t want to photograph actual sites) was a total hoarders junk yard. We lucked out and got a pretty good site that was level and had a new 50 amp box. If I was placed by some of the decrepit sites, I would have felt a bit unsafe. Another issue is it is noisy…it is surrounded by two highways and a busy road…and a loud train occasionally passes by. I hate to be overly critical but this could be a nice campground if they fixed up the bathhouse and set a standard for seasonal campsites. WouldI stay here again? Only if it was in a select few sites that were up front and visible.
Sep 12, 2024 · Michael SmithThe staff here are very nice and helpful. There was electric and water available. The site are mostly level. It seems important that you should understand that this is more of a full- time trailer park than a campground; half of the trailers here will never move again unless destroyed and hauled off. Some of them are truly decrepit and badly patched together. The bathroom facilities are unmaintained and in very bad shape. The swimming area doesn't appear to have been looked after for ages. There are junk cars on the property. There are, however, still some dedicated campsites to be had, with hookups. I don't think you're in any danger here, but if you're looking for an RV Park to relax and recreate in, I don't think this is your place. If you just need a stop- over, you'll be fine. Just don't expect a resort.
Sep 21, 2023 · wheresbat (Bat)Been a long time since I been there. Although the atmosphere was inviting the lake looked pretty bad. You can tell it really hasn't been tended to. My brother and I asked the owner if we could move the fire pit to a different location across from the lot we were renting for the weekend because it was too close to the camper and we were told no. He told us to retract the awning and pretty much deal with it. The location we asked permission to move the fire pit to was literally across the way wouldn't have been a problem as we even told him we'd clean up the area after we were done. Just not a place I'd spend money on for a holiday weekend when there's plenty of better places to go.
Sep 03, 2023 · Bobby NorthWhere to begin?!? I guess I’ll start with the positives. The female employee was kind enough but didn’t give us any sort of camp rules that were later mentioned by the manager ( complete jerk) there was plenty of fish in the pond as my 11 year old caught 7 right off the rip! The playground is probably the most modern thing in the entire place. It’s also a convenient area. However the location itself is very noisy as mentioned in other reviews. It’s a very dated camp ground and the facilities are dirty!!! But by far the worst is the manager and his lack of hospitality and straight up people skills!!! We have children and he clearly doesn’t like them or really even tolerate them well! I guess I just expect if you run a place like a campground you’re a bit more friendly. Maybe you should be more worried about the run down campers and grounds in general than a couple kids skipping rocks.
