Son's River Ranch Introduce
Are you a local resident in Texas searching for "camping near me" with exciting river activities? Consider Son's River Ranch, located at 1400 Sherrill Rd, Kingsbury, TX 78638, USA. You can reach them at (877) 577-7667 or +1 877-577-7667. Based on recent customer reviews, Son's River Ranch offers a memorable experience centered around its location and access to kayaking and tubing. However, it's important for potential visitors to be aware of some concerns raised regarding the cleanliness of the bathroom facilities and wait times for shuttle services for day visitors.
For those in the "camping near me" category seeking a river-focused getaway, Son's River Ranch boasts a prime location that is consistently highlighted as a major positive. The opportunity for kayaking is described as "the best experience," suggesting that the river environment is scenic and well-suited for paddling. Reviewers mention seeing a variety of wildlife, including numerous turtles and even snakes, indicating a vibrant natural ecosystem along the river. This immersive natural setting is a significant draw for those wanting to connect with the outdoors and enjoy the unique flora and fauna of the Texas waterways.
In terms of services, Son's River Ranch offers both overnight camping and day use options, as indicated by the wristbands for kayaking and tubing mentioned in one review. For overnight campers, standard campground services are likely to include designated campsites, although the specific types of sites (e.g., tent-only, RV-friendly) are not detailed in the provided information. Access to bathroom facilities is available, but as noted in a review, the cleanliness of these facilities has been a point of concern. The reviewer described the bathrooms as "DISGUSTING" and reported seeing them cleaned only once during a two-night stay, with the cleaning being described as inadequate. This is a critical point for potential campers who prioritize clean and well-maintained amenities. It is advisable for local users to inquire directly with Son's River Ranch about their cleaning protocols and the current condition of their bathroom facilities.
A key feature of Son's River Ranch is undoubtedly its access to the river for recreational activities. Kayaking is highly praised, suggesting that the river conditions and possibly the availability of rental equipment are excellent. Tubing is also offered, although one reviewer found the speed to be "much too slow." This might be a consideration for those seeking a more leisurely float. The presence of wildlife, such as turtles and snakes, adds an element of natural discovery to these river activities. For day visitors and campers alike, the river access for kayaking and tubing is a significant draw and a unique feature of this location within the "camping near me" options.
However, another feature mentioned in the reviews is the need for improvement in certain operational aspects. Specifically, one day visitor complained about the long wait times for the shuttle service, reporting waits of 15-20 minutes on a Saturday. This suggests that during peak times, the transportation logistics for those participating in river activities might be strained. For local users planning a day trip for kayaking or tubing, this potential delay in shuttle service is something to be aware of.
Regarding promotional information, none is explicitly provided in the reviews. One reviewer did mention that the campground is "overpriced," which could be a factor for budget-conscious local users when comparing "camping near me" options. It would be beneficial to contact Son's River Ranch directly to inquire about their current pricing for campsites and day use activities, as well as any potential discounts or packages they might offer.
In summary, Son's River Ranch near Kingsbury, TX, offers a compelling "camping near me" experience for those who value river activities like kayaking and tubing and appreciate a natural environment with opportunities for wildlife viewing. The location is a significant asset, providing access to a scenic stretch of the river. However, potential visitors should be aware of the concerns raised in the reviews regarding the cleanliness of the bathroom facilities and potential wait times for shuttle services during busy periods. The perception of being "overpriced" is also a point to consider.
For local users considering Son's River Ranch for their next camping or day trip, it is recommended to take the following steps:
- Contact Son's River Ranch directly at (877) 577-7667 or +1 877-577-7667 to inquire about their current policies on bathroom cleaning, the availability and frequency of shuttle services, and their pricing for camping and day use activities.

- Inquire about the best times to visit to potentially avoid peak crowds and longer wait times for shuttles.
- If bathroom cleanliness is a major concern, ask for recent updates on their cleaning procedures and any improvements that may have been made.
By taking these proactive steps, local campers and day visitors can gather the most up-to-date information to make an informed decision about whether Son's River Ranch meets their expectations for a "camping near me" experience. While the river activities are a significant draw, addressing the concerns raised in the reviews will be crucial for ensuring a satisfactory visit.
In conclusion, Son's River Ranch offers a local camping option near Kingsbury, TX, with a strong emphasis on river-based recreation, particularly kayaking and tubing, set within a natural environment where wildlife can be observed. While the location and river access are highly praised, potential visitors should be aware of reported issues regarding bathroom cleanliness and shuttle service efficiency. Son's River Ranch Reviews
I would say overall we had a great time. The location and the kayaking is the best experience. The bathrooms were DISGUSTING. Out of our 2 nights there I saw the bathroom cleaned one time. I watched a lady half ass clean one restroom as I stood there waiting to shower. When I walked in there was feces still smeared on the lower bowl of the toilet. Now I know it’s not her fault that people can’t clean up after themselves but she still cleaned and sanitized it poorly. These facilities need to be properly cleaned Very regularly throughout the day. It is a great place but it needs some work. And it’s overpriced.
Apr 22, 2025 · Bailey OBrienWe just went for the day and got the wristbands for kayaking and tubing. It was a really fun time! The tubing was much too slow for our speed but the kayaking was a lot of fun! We saw a ton of turtles and 2 snakes on the two times we went down. My only complaint was that they need more shuttles. It seems like waiting 15-20 minutes on a Saturday in the middle of the day is too much in my opinion.
May 03, 2025 · Rebekah valentiGreat place for family, friends and just relaxing glamping tents are amazing. Great property and not crazy with people floating. It was low at spring break and a rock popped our tube. But such is life. The only bummer are the people setting up thier whole picnic rig I'm with pop up canopies and on directly in the water where you get in and out of the river. It's difficult getting through them to enjoy your float. All in all we love it.
Apr 03, 2025 · M HWent to visit my in-laws. Nice place! Clean and well kept. Definitely worth checking out! River access right down from the tent area. The tents are a bit too close to others but it wasn't crowded when we went so that made it okay. I could see how if it was fully booked, it may be switch from "glamping" to "cramping."
Mar 21, 2025 · Paul AinsleyWe’ve been here multiple times and We have such a great time ! On our most recent visit Tony and Juan drove us back after kayaking and they were super nice ! Everything is always clean and it’s so enjoyable to be there ! We’ll definitely be back so many more times .
