Southern Trails RV Resort Introduce
For local residents searching for "camping near me," Southern Trails RV Resort, located at 2690 Arena Rd in Unadilla, Georgia, presents itself as an option. To provide a comprehensive and objective overview, it's essential to consider the recent feedback from individuals who have stayed at this campground.
Several reviewers have expressed significant concerns regarding the environment surrounding Southern Trails RV Resort. The town of Unadilla is described by multiple visitors as appearing "very unsafe and extremely run down," with observations of "numerous abandoned motels and buildings." One reviewer likened the atmosphere to a "post apocalypse town," indicating a potentially unsettling visual impression of the local area. These descriptions suggest that the immediate surroundings of the campground might not offer the most appealing or secure environment for visitors wishing to explore beyond the resort itself.
In terms of the campground's features, the reviews mention a pool and a "very small" mini golf course as available amenities. While these can offer some recreational opportunities for guests, the limited description suggests that these might not be extensive or particularly impressive compared to other campgrounds. It's important for potential visitors to have realistic expectations regarding the scope and quality of these on-site recreational facilities.
Regarding the camping spots themselves, one reviewer noted that the sites, at least within the section offering 50 amp hook-ups, are "tight." This could be a significant consideration for RV owners, particularly those with larger vehicles, as it might make maneuvering and parking challenging. Close proximity between sites can also impact the overall sense of space and privacy for campers.
The condition of the local town appears to be a recurring concern in the feedback. Reviewers mention that local stores "don't have anything, are dirty," and that many businesses are "no longer in business." This paints a picture of a town struggling economically, which might affect the availability and quality of local services and supplies that campers might typically rely on.
Another significant issue raised by multiple reviewers is the presence of stray cats within the park. These cats are reported to "run the park, pissing all over your things," which poses a potential hygiene and nuisance problem for campers. This is an important factor for pet owners and anyone concerned about the cleanliness of their camping area.
Perhaps one of the most impactful negative aspects highlighted in the reviews is the proximity of the campground to the highway and the resulting noise. Southern Trails RV Resort is described as being a "stone throw to the highway without any noise barriers." Consequently, guests have experienced "constant cars and trucks passing, honking," leading to a significant noise disturbance. One reviewer stated they "couldn't take it anymore" after a week of this constant noise and longed for "10 mins of silence." The lack of noise barriers appears to be a major drawback for those seeking a peaceful and quiet camping experience.
Adding to the concerns about the surrounding environment, one reviewer mentioned seeing a billboard for an "adult superstore," which further contributed to what they described as "yucky grimy vibes." While subjective, this observation reflects a negative perception of the local atmosphere.
Based on these collective experiences, several reviewers strongly advise against staying at Southern Trails RV Resort. One reviewer stated they "really don’t recommend this place," and another went as far as to say, "We will park in a Cracker Barrel before ever visiting such a place again." These are strong indicators of significant dissatisfaction with the campground and its surroundings.
For local users searching for "camping near me" who might also be looking for related services or goods, the negative reviews regarding the local town suggest that relying on nearby businesses for supplies or services might be challenging. Campers considering Southern Trails RV Resort should likely plan to bring all necessary provisions with them and may not find convenient options for shopping or dining in the immediate vicinity.
Given the overwhelmingly negative feedback concerning the surrounding area's safety and condition, the limited amenities within the campground, the tight parking spots, the presence of stray animals, and the significant highway noise, local campers might want to carefully consider these factors before choosing Southern Trails RV Resort for their getaway.
It's important to note that while the workers were described as "very kind," this positive aspect of the service appears to be overshadowed by the significant environmental and logistical drawbacks reported by multiple visitors. Kindness of staff, while appreciated, may not compensate for concerns about safety, noise, and overall comfort.
For local users exploring "camping near me," it would be prudent to research alternative campgrounds in the Unadilla or surrounding areas that may offer a more appealing environment, better amenities, and a quieter, more secure experience. The strong negative sentiment expressed in the reviews for Southern Trails RV Resort suggests that it might not be the most desirable option for those seeking a relaxing and enjoyable local camping trip.
Prospective campers might want to use online mapping tools to get a visual sense of the campground's proximity to the highway and the general appearance of the surrounding area. Reading multiple reviews from various sources can also provide a more well-rounded perspective. Contacting Southern Trails RV Resort directly at the provided phone numbers, (478) 627-3254 or +1 478-627-3254, might offer an opportunity to ask specific questions about the concerns raised in the reviews, such as noise mitigation efforts or any improvements to the facilities or the stray cat situation. However, it's crucial to approach this with the understanding of the experiences shared by previous guests.
In conclusion, while Southern Trails RV Resort offers a place to park an RV and has a pool and small mini golf course, the overwhelming feedback from recent visitors highlights significant drawbacks related to the unsafe and run-down surrounding area, tight parking, stray animals, and substantial highway noise. Local campers searching for "camping near me" are advised to carefully weigh these negative aspects against the basic amenities offered and consider alternative options in the region for a more positive and comfortable camping experience.

Southern Trails RV Resort Reviews
I feel bad posting this review because the workers were very kind. However, I feel it is important to share that the area surrounding this campground seemed very unsafe and extremely run down. There were numerous abandoned motels and buildings in the town. It felt like a post apocalypse town. We stayed for one night and I would never have stayed longer. It was also very loud with the expressway right there and you could see the billboard for the “adult superstore” further adding to the yucky grimy vibes. I really don’t recommend this place.
Feb 11, 2025 · Gabrielle DiPiazzaBesides a place to park, this camp ground leaves so much to desire. There is a pool and a mini golf course (very small). But the spots are tight at least for the small section of 50 amp hook ups.The local town is a disaster. Stores don't have anything, are dirty and almost anything that was, is no longer in business.Stray cats run the park, pissing all over your things. But the worst is it is a stone throw to the highway without any noise barriers, so after a week of constant cars and trucks passing, honking we couldn't take it anymore. We just wanted 10 mins of silence. We will park in a Cracker Barrel before ever visiting such a place again. One thing I learned is to check the locations of all future "camp grounds" to make sure we never make that mistake again.
Mar 02, 2025 · W iMWill not return and left 2 days early. Where our site was they have a ferrel cat issue. The RV across from us had about 6 or more cats. The cats used the tree next to my RV as a liter box. My husband went up to the office and they cleaned it up, well that made it worse. That evening there were 3 cats doing their business in the dirt and the next morning there was 4 cats. As I walked my dog I noticed cats under people’s RV’s also a lot of cat poo under RV’s. One evening a cat walked all over our table and grill. Also another issue is that all the 50 amps spots are close to Route 75 and all night long you heard traffic also trains blowing their whistles. It seems like a lot of people live there and some of the RV’s aren’t in good shape. The roads in the campground have large holes filled with water. The management needs to take better care of this RV resort.
Feb 08, 2025 · Michele BlairWe were here in November 2024. The staff was very nice. They told us to pick any site except 2 that don't have power. We had trouble, on our own, finding a site that would fit our 45 foot rig, towing a car. The car was barely off the road. Speaking of roads, they were sort of gravel, but mostly dirt, with some pot holes with big puddles of water. We have NEVER staeyed so close to I-75, lol. We could almost read the license plates of travelers. However, we slept well and the noise didn't bother us. The price was reasonable...$40 if you have a Sam's card. We wouldn't recommend for long motorhomes towing.
