Georgia Veterans State Park Campground Introduce
For local residents in and around Cordele, Georgia, seeking a diverse and engaging "camping near me" experience, the Georgia Veterans State Park Campground, located in Cordele, GA 31015, USA, offers a compelling option. Situated within the larger Georgia Veterans State Park, this campground provides access to a wide array of recreational activities and scenic beauty. Reviews from fellow campers offer insights into the environment, services, and features, allowing local users to make informed decisions about their next outdoor getaway.
The environment of Georgia Veterans State Park Campground is frequently praised for its natural beauty. Reviewers highlight "tall trees" and "gorgeous water views," suggesting a landscape that combines the shade and tranquility of woodlands with the scenic appeal of a lake or river. The presence of water enhances the potential for various water-based activities and contributes to a relaxing atmosphere. While one reviewer noted that the tent pads are made of small pebbles and can be firm, the overall scenery appears to be a significant positive aspect of the campground, offering a picturesque setting for local campers to enjoy the outdoors.
In terms of services, Georgia Veterans State Park Campground aims to provide a comfortable stay for its visitors. One reviewer specifically mentioned that the "bath houses were very well maintained," indicating that campers can expect clean and functional restroom facilities. The positive feedback regarding the "friendly" camp host who ensured guests had everything they needed suggests a commitment to customer service and a welcoming atmosphere. This personal touch can greatly enhance the camping experience, making local users feel well-cared for during their stay. While another reviewer on a different loop perceived their host as "uninteresting in being social," the overall impression leans towards a supportive staff.
The campground appears to cater to both RV and tent campers. While specific details about RV hookups (water, electricity, sewage) are not explicitly mentioned in these reviews, the general nature of state park campgrounds often includes such amenities at least in some sections. For tent campers, the availability of "well maintained" pads, albeit firm, suggests designated and cared-for camping spots. However, the firmness of the pads might be a consideration for those seeking softer ground for tent setup. It would be beneficial for local tent campers to inquire about the specific nature of tent sites when making reservations.
Georgia Veterans State Park Campground boasts several features that contribute to its appeal. The mention of "so much to do" and the enjoyment of "fishing" by one reviewer indicates that the park offers a range of recreational activities beyond just camping. The presence of the "Cypress Grill" with live music on the weekends (starting around 9 pm) is a notable feature, offering an on-site dining and entertainment option. However, local tent campers should be aware that the music was reported as "loud at the campground" and potentially disruptive during bedtime, particularly for young children. This might be less of an issue for RV campers with more sound insulation or those who plan to stay up later.
The early morning visit from a "garbage truck" around 7:30 am is another factor that local campers might want to consider, as it could potentially disrupt the peacefulness of the morning. However, this is often a necessary service for maintaining the cleanliness of the campground. The overall impression from the reviews suggests a well-maintained park with a variety of activities, but potential noise levels from the grill and early morning services might be a consideration for some, especially tent campers.
While the provided reviews do not explicitly mention promotional information, Georgia State Parks often have various offers or programs that could benefit local users. These might include seasonal discounts, weekday specials, or annual park passes that provide access to multiple state parks, including Georgia Veterans State Park. Residents of Cordele and surrounding areas should check the official Georgia State Parks website for any current promotions, especially those tailored to local visitors or off-peak season stays. Additionally, information about any veteran-specific discounts might be available, given the park's name and theme.
In conclusion, Georgia Veterans State Park Campground offers local residents a camping experience within a scenic environment featuring tall trees and beautiful water views. The campground is generally well-maintained, with clean bath houses and at least one friendly camp host. Features like fishing and the on-site Cypress Grill with live music provide additional recreational options. However, tent campers should be aware of the firm pebble pads and potential noise from the evening music and early morning garbage collection. Despite these considerations, the overall positive feedback regarding the beauty of the park and the available activities makes Georgia Veterans State Park Campground a worthwhile option for those seeking "camping near me" in the Cordele, GA area. Local users are encouraged to visit the Georgia State Parks website for reservations and to inquire about any current promotions or specific details about tent sites and potential noise levels to ensure a pleasant camping experience.

Georgia Veterans State Park Campground Reviews
The Campground was excellent. Everyone was so friendly. Our host made sure we had everything we needed. So much to do. Enjoyed the fishing very relaxing. The husband and I are already planning the next trip.
Apr 28, 2025 · Latrail CookWe were tent camping. The pads are small pebbles and well maintained, but it's a bit firm for a tent. The scenery was BEAUTIFUL - tall trees and the gorgeous water views!! There was music at the Cypress Grill both nights we stayed that started up around 9pm and was so loud at the campground. Thankfully our kiddos were so tired it didn't keep them up, but it was right at bedtime and very distracting. Then, a garbage truck camp to dump the dumpsters around 7:30am.The bath houses were very well maintained, but the camp host on our loop side seemed uninteresting in being social. We saw them riding around on gold carts, but they didn't seem as friendly as other campgrounds where the hosts introduce themselves, ask about your stay, or at least say hi.I don't think we'd camp there in a tent again.
Apr 04, 2024 · Melissa SmithWe went the first week in August and stayed at the campground with our 3 kids. The campground is quiet, restrooms clean and lots of shade. The only downfall are the gnats, but it’s summer in S. Georgia, those are to be expected. My in-laws stayed at the cabins which were close (about half a mile from the campground). We rented a golf cart from the visitors center to go from the campground to the cabin throughout the day and to let the older kids “sight see”. The cabins are awesome with a fireplace, full kitchen, dishes, fireplace (which would be cool in the winter), very nice playground is also near the cabins. The restaurant on site at the marina had great food and drinks, the pizzas are HUGE, burgers not too greasy, best catfish my father in law has ever had. There were also deer all around which my kids loved watching to see where they would pop up at.All in all we enjoyed ourselves and will return. Hopefully the villas will be open then so we can stay in one of those.
Aug 21, 2023 · Aleshia BeeryWe camped here during Christmas and it was empty and completely unique experience. The lakeside camping views are incredible and we basically had it to ourselves. It’s cool too because there is a nice trail and the airplanes and tanks on-site, as well as the restaurant in case you get tired of cooking. The sites are super random in their placement, spacing, and angles, so your experience will vary from site to site. We had site 17 because it was close to the playground. But 15 and 16 are like eight feet apart and I would not be thrilled if I was that close to someone I didn’t know. WiFi didn’t work. Verizon coverage was decent enough. We loved being so close to Americus and Plains for all the history.
Dec 26, 2023 · Eric MayReally nice camp ground. Thought it was a little high priced since it did not have sewer on the lots. Did have dump station.Bath house was clean, but a little cold in the morning with screens and no windows.Lots were very clean, and lots of space between campers.
