Splashway Campground Introduce
Are you a local resident seeking a "camping near me" experience that promises fun for the whole family? Splashway Campground, located at the Campground Office, 5235 2nd St in Sheridan, Texas, offers a unique blend of outdoor adventure and engaging activities, particularly appealing to families with children. While the provided customer reviews offer insights into the positive aspects, such as the free activities for kids and the community atmosphere, they also highlight some potential limitations to consider, such as cabin size and hot water availability.
Sheridan, Texas, is situated in Colorado County, which features a mix of open landscapes and natural areas. Splashway Campground appears to be integrated with or in close proximity to the popular Splashway Waterpark, suggesting an environment geared towards recreational activities and outdoor enjoyment. The mention of "getting out in nature" indicates that the campground also provides opportunities to experience the natural surroundings, although the primary draw seems to be the family-oriented facilities and activities.
One of the key features of Splashway Campground, as enthusiastically noted by a reviewer, is the abundance of "free activities" for kids. This is a significant draw for families looking for an engaging and budget-friendly getaway. While the specific nature of these activities isn't detailed, they likely contribute to a lively and entertaining environment for children of various ages. This focus on family fun creates a "wonderful community" atmosphere, as mentioned by another guest, suggesting a social and welcoming environment where families can connect and enjoy their time together.
A major highlight, although seasonally dependent, is the proximity to the Splashway Waterpark. One reviewer expressed anticipation for a future visit during the summer when the water park is open, indicating that access to this amenity is a significant feature of the overall Splashway experience. This suggests that during the warmer months, guests at the campground can easily enjoy the thrills and spills of a water park, adding substantial value to their stay. However, it's important to note that the water park likely operates during specific seasons, so local users should check the operating schedule when planning their visit.
In terms of accommodation, the reviews provide insights into the cabin rentals. One guest described the cabins as "very small," which is an important consideration for those planning to stay in this type of lodging. Families or groups with a lot of gear or those who prefer more spacious indoor living areas should be aware of this potential limitation. It might be advisable to inquire about the exact dimensions and layout of the cabins when booking to ensure they meet your needs.
Another significant point raised in the reviews concerns the availability of hot water for showers. A guest noted that there is "almost no hot water for showers," which could be a major inconvenience, especially during cooler months or after a day of activities. This is a critical factor for comfort and hygiene, and potential guests should be prepared for this possibility or seek clarification from the campground management regarding the consistency and availability of hot water.
The physical layout of the combined campground and water park area seems to be quite extensive, as indicated by one reviewer's smartwatch tracking a significant amount of walking and stair climbing in just half a day. This suggests that there is a considerable area to explore and navigate, which could be a positive for those who enjoy walking and being active. However, the reviewer also noted that the experience might not be "for the weak or old at heart," implying that the terrain or the distances between amenities could be challenging for individuals with mobility issues or lower fitness levels. Local users with such considerations should inquire about the accessibility of different areas and the availability of any transportation options within the facility.
While the reviews provide valuable first-hand accounts, they do not offer specific details about the services available at Splashway Campground beyond the free kids' activities and the seasonal water park access. Standard campground amenities might include restrooms, shower facilities (with the caveat about potential hot water limitations), laundry facilities, picnic areas, and possibly fire pits or grilling areas at campsites or cabin locations. For RV campers, information about the availability and type of hookups (e.g., water, electricity, sewer) is not provided in these reviews.
Similarly, there is no promotional information included in the provided context. To learn about any special rates, seasonal discounts, family packages, or promotions related to the water park or campground stays, local users should contact Splashway Campground directly via phone at (979) 234-7718 or +1 979-234-7718. Their website or social media channels might also provide information on current offers and events.
For local families searching for a "camping near me" destination that prioritizes fun for children and offers the excitement of a water park during the summer, Splashway Campground in Sheridan, Texas, presents a compelling option. The free kids' activities and community atmosphere are significant positives. However, potential guests should be aware of the reported limitations regarding the small size of the cabins and the potential lack of hot water for showers. Additionally, the extensive layout might pose a challenge for some individuals. It is recommended to contact the campground directly to gather more detailed information about accommodation options, amenity availability, water park operating schedules, and any current promotions to ensure a well-informed and enjoyable stay.

Splashway Campground Reviews
Fun stay! Kids loved all the free activities, plus getting out in nature with a wonderful community. Next time we’ll come in summer when the water park is open.
Mar 16, 2025 · Jordynn CarterGreat summer family fun. The cabins are very small. There is almost no hot water for showers. Not for the weak or old at heart. Smart watch showed 5 miles walked and 61 flights of stairs in 1/2 day!
Jun 25, 2024 · Robert CowanThe only thing MISSING here is a FITNESS CENTER‼️‼️‼️💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻 Love this place but a fitness center would be so cool!
Mar 11, 2025 · Texaz SoloMy kid loved this place. Good fun for kids of all ages. Coffee shop was pretty decent as well.
Nov 01, 2024 · Robert GreenGreat place to take the kids. I recommend season passes if your camping for a few days. Staff is friendly, park stays clean. Have shaded spots in the A and C groups and a few in others spots but those are both closer to water park
