Sugar Creek Park Campground Introduce
Looking for an affordable "camping near me" option in a pleasant setting? Consider Sugar Creek Park Campground, located in Ferryville, WI 54628, USA. Based on recent customer reviews, this "beautiful little park" offers a budget-friendly camping experience, although it's worth noting a few specific characteristics.
The environment of Sugar Creek Park Campground is described as "beautiful" and "well maintained," suggesting a clean and aesthetically pleasing space for campers. While one reviewer noted that you "can't see the Mississippi River" from the park itself, its location on the outskirts of Ferryville implies it's situated within the broader scenic region of southwestern Wisconsin. The presence of a "decent selection of playground equipment for kids" indicates that the environment is family-friendly and caters to those traveling with children. The grounds are reported to be clean, which contributes positively to the overall camping experience.
In terms of services, Sugar Creek Park Campground offers basic amenities. One review mentions "water and electric" hookups, although another review suggests that "none of the sites have electrical hookups." This discrepancy indicates a potential inconsistency in the availability of electrical services across all sites, so it would be wise for prospective campers to clarify this when planning their stay. Notably, the campground does not have an RV dump station. Each site includes a fire ring, which is a standard and appreciated feature for many campers. There is a pavilion available, which could serve as a communal gathering space or provide shelter. As of June 2021, the cost was $10 per night, making it a very affordable option. It's also mentioned that there is "no camp host" on-site.
A significant feature of Sugar Creek Park Campground, as highlighted in the reviews, is its proximity to a train track. Campers should be aware that "trains pass by regularly and can be quite loud," with the track being "next to the park." However, one reviewer mentioned that they "weren't awakened from train noise," suggesting that while noticeable, it might not be disruptive to everyone. The playground equipment is another key feature, making it appealing to families with children. The self-pay system for the $10 nightly fee is also a notable characteristic.
Based on the provided information, there is no specific promotional information available for Sugar Creek Park Campground. The primary draw appears to be its affordability and the presence of a playground in a well-maintained setting.
For local users seeking "camping near me" on a budget, Sugar Creek Park Campground in Ferryville presents an attractive option. The well-maintained grounds and the playground are definite positives. However, potential campers should be aware of the train noise due to the nearby track and the possible lack of picnic tables at each site. It's also crucial to verify the availability of electrical hookups, as the reviews provide conflicting information. The absence of an RV dump station is important for RV travelers to note.
In summary, Sugar Creek Park Campground offers:
- A "beautiful" and "well maintained" environment.
- A "decent selection" of playground equipment.
- Fire rings at each site.
- Water and potentially electric hookups (needs verification).
- A pavilion.
- A very affordable rate of $10 per night (as of June 2021) via self-pay.
Things to be aware of:
- Proximity to a train track, resulting in train noise.
- No picnic tables at the campsites.
- No RV dump station.
- No camp host on-site.
- Uncertainty regarding electrical hookups at all sites.
- No view of the Mississippi River from the park.
If you are looking for a budget-friendly "camping near me" option with a playground and don't mind potential train noise, Sugar Creek Park Campground could be a good fit. To clarify the availability of electrical hookups and any other questions you might have, you could try contacting the local authorities in Ferryville, as a direct phone number for the campground is not provided in the information. Consider Sugar Creek Park Campground for an affordable camping experience in a pleasant setting.

Sugar Creek Park Campground Reviews
Beautiful little park. Can't see the Mississippi River. Biggest drawback was trains, track is next to park but wasn't awakened from train noise. Well maintained. Has water and electric, no RV dump. $10 nite as of June 2021. No camp host.
Jun 02, 2021 · Dawn SmackLocated on the outskirts of Ferryville, this campground offers approximately twelve sites. It features a pavilion and a decent selection of playground equipment for kids. Each site includes a fire ring, but none come with a picnic table. I'm not entirely certain, but it appears that none of the sites have electrical hookups. The trains pass by regularly and can be quite loud, although they are not particularly long. The grounds were well-maintained and clean. I would definitely consider returning. The fee is $10 per night for self-pay.

Sep 24, 2023 · Jill Dittmer$10 for the night; electricity; clean portapotty, water hydrant available. Pavilion with picnic tables. Thank you, city of Ferryville, for providing a city park/campground! I was riding the Great River Road on a bicycle, supported by my husband pulling a simple sleeper camper with a small pickup & our dog. We often have trouble finding a place to park for the night. This campground was perfect. While it would have been nice to have a shower (the cinderblock bathrooms--maybe showers?--were locked), the portapotty was adequate and the electricity was a bonus. I wish all towns provided a place for travelers to safely sleep overnight. Yes, the train track is close and trains can be heard during the night, but that's part of living close to the river. I am so appreciative of this service you provide. We had friendly help from Janette at the gas station when we arrived in town and had supper at the Wooden Nickel--great burgers.
