Sunburst Campground Reviews
Love this campground. First time here. Spent 3 nights and got to hike some amazing trail in the Shining Rock Wilderness. Camp host Kim and Ronnie are awesome people. Campground is very clean and relaxing. Will definitely be going back.
Jun 08, 2024 · Timothy McLeodWe rolled in before sunset on a mid-November Saturday afternoon. Only one other camper other than the camp-host. Beautiful little campground across the street from the creek. Very quiet, very clean....great stop!
Nov 12, 2023 · Kimberlee WalgamotteThough we didn't stay at the campground we hiked the Middle Prong trail right next to it. There are several branches off the main trail both to the left and right allowing for more exploration. The main trail is fairly smooth and quite wide. It's a great hike offering plenty of natures best!
Jul 18, 2020 · Amanda BrookshireThis camp ground is like a back woods "rest stop". There are about 10 primitive sites. There is potable water available. Sites have fire rings. There is a bathroom but no showers. During the day you can hear the occasional gun shot from the near by firing range. The sound of the creek is also audible from the camp sites ( and that helps me sleep as a fan addict ). Fire wood can be purchased. There is a swimming hole up stream just past the bridge. The water is cold even in August. The road is visible from the camp sites, but traffic during the day is minimal, and it's almost non-existent during the night.I would enjoy spending the night there again but would not seek it out as a destination.
Aug 31, 2017 · Jared MenardA delightful NFS campground! Only nine sites plus a host, but I was treated to heated bathrooms and running water for the sink and toilet. No one was running generators or A/C, so the sound of the rushing creek and rain were all I could hear during my brief overnightA couple of quiet trails for Middle Prong Wilderness leave from the campground, but I drove around to the Sam Knob Trailhead with crowds instead
