Sunny's Campgrounds Introduce
Looking for a truly expansive and active "camping near me" experience in Ohio? Sunny's Campgrounds, located at 12399 Co Rd 13, Wauseon, OH 43567, USA, offers a unique and large-scale camping destination. Customer reviews highlight its impressive size, with 800 sites, including 80 specifically for overnight stays, making it potentially the largest campground many visitors have encountered. This campground boasts a variety of features and a lively atmosphere, particularly on weekends, making it an exciting option for those seeking an engaging camping experience with numerous amenities.
The environment at Sunny's Campgrounds is diverse, offering both waterfront and forest sections. Many campsites are unusually and nicely situated directly on the water, providing opportunities for fishing and enjoying scenic views. Additionally, there is a forest section, suggesting wooded campsites that offer shade and a different natural ambiance. However, some reviews note that many sites are either too close together or located in direct sunlight, indicating that the density and shade levels can vary across the property. The sheer size of the campground necessitates either a golf cart or an e-bike for convenient navigation. The internal streets are wide and level, making travel within the campground easy, although the gravel surface can generate noticeable noise and dust from passing vehicles and even bicycles.
Sunny's Campgrounds offers a range of services and amenities to cater to its large number of guests. A significant highlight is the presence of a food truck and a small grocery store on-site, providing convenient options for meals and essential supplies without needing to leave the campground. For recreational activities, the campground boasts fishing opportunities, swimming areas, and paddle boats, as mentioned by a long-time visitor who enjoys these aspects. A particularly noteworthy feature is a real full-size golf course, offering a unique amenity not commonly found at campgrounds. The campground also honors Passport America memberships, potentially providing discounts for members. Given its size and activity levels, it likely offers standard campground amenities such as restroom and shower facilities, and possibly laundry services. However, specific details about hookups for RVs (water, electric, sewer) and other services would require direct inquiry or further online research.
The features of Sunny's Campgrounds are extensive and cater to a wide range of interests. Its ginormous size, with 800 sites, is a defining characteristic. The availability of 80 overnight sites suggests it accommodates both short-term and longer stays. The waterfront campsites are a significant draw, offering direct water access and scenic views. The presence of a forest section provides an alternative camping environment with natural shade. A full-size golf course is a unique and substantial amenity. The on-site food truck and small grocery store add convenience for meals and supplies. The lively atmosphere, especially on weekends, makes it a "party place" for those seeking an active social camping experience. Paddle boats offer a relaxing on-water activity. However, potential drawbacks include the noise and dust from the gravel roads and the close proximity or direct sunlight exposure of some campsites. Securing a "very choice site" often depends on timing and availability.
Currently, specific promotional information for Sunny's Campgrounds is not detailed in the provided reviews. However, the mention of accepting Passport America memberships indicates a potential avenue for discounts for those who hold this membership. To inquire about other potential promotions, such as seasonal discounts, extended stay rates, or group discounts, it is recommended to contact Sunny's Campgrounds directly via phone at (419) 337-3101 or +1 419-337-3101. You can also inquire about any special packages that might include access to the golf course or other amenities. Checking their website (if available) or any social media presence might also provide information on current offers or events. Given its large size and popularity, it's advisable to ask about reservation policies and any potential benefits for booking in advance, especially if you are interested in securing one of the "very choice sites" or planning a weekend stay when it is most active.
The customer reviews paint a picture of a vibrant and amenity-rich camping destination. The long-time visitor's enjoyment of fishing, swimming, and paddle boats, along with their enthusiasm for meeting new people, highlights the social and recreational aspects of the campground. The sheer size, as emphasized by another reviewer, is a defining characteristic, requiring a golf cart or e-bike for easy navigation. The combination of waterfront and forest campsites offers diverse environmental options, although site quality and shade can vary. The on-site food truck and grocery store add significant convenience. The presence of a full-size golf course is a unique and substantial amenity. The lively, "party place" atmosphere on weekends will appeal to those seeking an active camping experience. For local users looking for a large, amenity-filled "camping near me" option with waterfront access and a lively social scene, Sunny's Campgrounds is worth considering.
In conclusion, Sunny's Campgrounds in Wauseon, Ohio, offers a truly expansive and active "camping near me" experience with a wide array of features and amenities. Its 800 sites, including many with waterfront access and a forest section, cater to a large number of campers. Highlights include fishing, swimming, paddle boats, an on-site food truck and grocery store, and a full-size golf course. The campground has a lively atmosphere, particularly on weekends. While some campsites may be close together or in direct sunlight, the availability of "very choice sites" and the acceptance of Passport America memberships add to its appeal. Sunny's Campgrounds Reviews
I’ve been coming to Sunny’s for 12 years now I love fishing here and swimming I always bring my friends so they can get the experience too! I absolutely love meeting new people and making money out there and seeing everyone’s smiles I have like walking around and going on the paddle boats!
Oct 20, 2024 · Arieanna BlackmoreIt has been a while since I have taken advantage of my lifetime Passport America membership. 🛂This property popped up on my route. 🛣️It's ginormous!😱 This might be the largest campground property I have ever stayed at! They have 800 sites here. 80 of them are for overnighters 👍🏻Definitely a must have a golf cart or at least an e-bike in a property this large. The streets are very wide and quite level and free of any types of bumps or potholes. They are quite nice, except for the noise from the gravel surface and the dust. They are so noisy you can hear a bicycle coming from 100 yards away. So every time a golf cart or a car comes by it will be noticeable.🙉This property is very much a party place. 🥳It is quite active on weekends. They have a food truck and a small grocery store on site!😳There are some very choice sites here 🤩 but you would have to be in the right spot at the right time in order to get one if it became available. Most of the sites are too close together or out in direct sunlight. Some are on the main outside street. But what is unusual and very nice here is many of them are on the water. And they also have a forest section!🌲🌲And a real full size golf course!🏌🏻♂️⛳
Aug 22, 2024 · Michael ScottStayed one night while traveling. Would stay again. Very nice campground. VERY LARGE! Lots of campers are full-timers or campers where people keep their campers and come for a weekend or week. Everything is kept very clean and maintained. It was easy access from the interstate and near a town where we were able to go eat.
Jul 07, 2022 · Lacreta CarrMy grandma and grandpa go here and have a trailer up there. Although you have to pay and have a pass to get in, it's really cool up there. They have various events on Halloween like costume contest, trick or treating, and a dance place. It's very fun and you can also drive around and see all the decorations. As far as I know, people are really friendly and nice. Would recommend if you have a trailer. Also there is a pond with fish but if you go fishing you have to throw the fish back in. Next to the pond and other place there are 3 parks or play grounds.
