Switchback Creek Campground Reviews
Amazing stay at a quaint little cabin. Basic amenities were provided, and the cabin was clean and tidy. The view was amazing, and the 2-minute ride to the Shady Valley Country Store made it the perfect spot for a weekend of riding. Hot shower, grill, microwave, clean towels… best “campground” in the area. The tent campers were friendly, everyone was courteous and polite. Will definitely be back.
Apr 20, 2025 · Jonathon CoveyBeautiful location, great views! Was able to get the fifth wheel in, the last 2 roads off of 91 are narrow but easily passable. Great location to come and stay to ride the motorcycle on "The Snake" and other mountain roads.Great Verizon service, campground also offers WiFi!
Mar 02, 2025 · Josh OrmeroidStayed multiple times here and would stay again and again! The owner is fantastic, very nice, and is always excited to chat, show off his Norton’s, or that set of tires that reverse crowned so bad, the center is a peak and the sides are nearly bald.Large bathrooms and a large fire pit though you’ll have to grab firewood in town.If you ever think of staying, do it. Bikes are very welcome, and if you’re riding the snake, you won’t be more then a couple minutes from the shady valley store!
Jul 23, 2021 · Ernesto LopezI've been going here for 10 years. Its one of my favorite places east of the Mississippi river. The riding is outstanding. The owner is a great guy and quick with a joke. He's also pretty good with a wrench: something to keep in mind if you're touring.Camping prices are extremely affordable because of the communal nature of the camp. Its great for meeting new friends and having a laugh around the fire. If you're not so social: no worries, you can pitch a tent away from the crowd (or get a cabin) and everyone will respect your space. You never know who you'll meet here. Locals. AT Hikers. Bikers. Families. But sometimes you get all that peace and tranquility to yourself :)Highly recommended primitive camping (with hot showers and laundry facilities). My only complaint is the owner could replenish the wood pile more often. He doesn't charge for firewood so its hit-or-miss. I intend to take some up next time I trailer my bike up.
Apr 23, 2018 · Ashworth PayneWindy may be a Florida transplant, but he has the air of a local good 'ol boy, and he runs a fantastic little campground with lots of hospitality. It's a relatively small property, with only a couple of cabins, a grassy meadow for tents and campers, and a bathhouse. Our cabin felt luxurious after a few days on the trail: clean and tidy with real beds, comfortable linens, a fridge, and air conditioning. The bathhouse is just a short walk away, where there are a couple of big showers, toilets, and laundry. The free shuttle service from the trail and back sealed the deal for us. If you're looking for a break after a few days in the backcountry, this is a perfect little pit stop.
