The Getaway Campground Introduce
For local users searching for "camping near me" in the Bonnieville, Kentucky area, The Getaway Campground, located at 2732 Priceville Rd, Bonnieville, KY 42713, USA, presents a camping option that appears to cater particularly to those traveling for work and seeking a quiet overnight stay. However, based on recent customer reviews, potential visitors should be aware of certain aspects regarding amenities, communication, and pricing policies before making a reservation.
The environment of The Getaway Campground in Bonnieville seems to be geared towards providing basic necessities for travelers. One reviewer noted that the spaces have picnic tables and essential hookups including water, sewer, and power, which are crucial for RV travelers. The campground is also described as quiet at night, which could be a significant benefit for those needing a restful sleep, especially those working during the day. However, another reviewer who stayed for an extended period mentioned a lack of activities for children at the Bonnieville location. This suggests that families with kids might find the environment less engaging compared to other campgrounds in the area.
Services and amenities at the Bonnieville location of The Getaway Campground appear to be somewhat limited based on the customer feedback. One significant concern raised was the condition and maintenance of the laundry facilities. The presence of dog feces for an extended period, despite multiple complaints, indicates potential issues with cleanliness and responsiveness to guest concerns. While Wi-Fi is offered, its performance is noted as not being great, although the reviewer acknowledged that this might be due to the location. The availability of basic utilities (water, sewer, power) at the campsites is a positive aspect for RVers. However, the lack of kid-friendly amenities like a playground is a notable absence.
Features of The Getaway Campground in Bonnieville, as highlighted in the reviews, include the provision of basic hookups and picnic tables at each site, catering to the fundamental needs of campers, particularly those with RVs. The quiet nighttime atmosphere is a feature appreciated by those needing a peaceful rest. However, a significant drawback mentioned is the poor communication experienced by one long-term guest across various aspects of their stay. This lack of effective communication could be a point of concern for potential visitors who might need to resolve issues or have questions during their stay.
One reviewer made a comparison to The Getaway Campground's Glendale location, noting that it offered more amenities for children, including a small playground, pool, and lake. This suggests that the experience and facilities might vary between different locations under the same campground name. The negative experience at the Glendale location regarding a perceived overreach of rules (not allowing a child to drink water by the pool) also raises questions about the overall guest relations policies.
A particularly concerning issue raised in one review is the discrepancy in how charges were applied. The reviewer mentioned being pro-rated upon arrival for a long-term stay but then being charged a flat rate of $400 for a five-day departure, without any pro-rating. The lack of a clear explanation or response to inquiries about this billing discrepancy is a significant point of caution for potential guests. The subsequent provision of a "Campground policy" only after questioning the charges suggests a lack of transparency in their pricing practices.
For local users searching for "camping near me" for a family getaway, the reviews suggest that The Getaway Campground in Bonnieville might not be the most suitable option due to the lack of children's activities and potential issues with cleanliness and communication. However, for individuals traveling for work who prioritize a quiet night's sleep and basic RV hookups, it might still be a viable option, provided they are aware of the potential limitations and communication challenges.
There is no positive promotional information present in the provided reviews. Instead, the strong negative sentiment expressed by one long-term guest, including a firm statement of never returning and advising others not to stay, serves as a significant caution. This negative feedback outweighs the more neutral comment about it being "good for those who travel for work."
Given the serious concerns raised in the reviews, especially regarding cleanliness, communication, and potentially inconsistent billing practices, local users considering The Getaway Campground in Bonnieville should proceed with caution. It would be highly advisable to contact the campground directly using the provided address to inquire specifically about the current status of their laundry facilities, their policies on long-term and short-term stays, their communication protocols, and any amenities available for families with children. Asking for clarification on their pricing and pro-rating policies is also crucial to avoid unexpected charges.
In conclusion, while The Getaway Campground in Bonnieville, KY, might offer a quiet stay with basic RV hookups suitable for those traveling for work, potential local users searching for "camping near me" should be aware of significant concerns raised in customer reviews. These include issues with cleanliness, poor communication, a lack of amenities for children, and potentially problematic billing practices. The strongly negative experience of a long-term guest suggests that families and those seeking a well-maintained and transparently managed campground might want to consider alternative options in the Bonnieville area. Thoroughly investigating the current conditions and policies by contacting the campground directly is strongly recommended before making a reservation.

The Getaway Campground Reviews
We stayed at this campground for over a year due to my husbands job. At the Bonnieville location; there’s absolutely nothing to do for kids, the laundry mat had dog feces for weeks in the summer even after I called & three other campers did too. Eventually, after months of calling it was cleaned up but the smell lingered. The wifi is not great, however they can’t control that, I assume it’s just location matter. Just a heads up. Communication was awful in every aspect. I will say the Glendale get away canpground was better they had a small playground, pool, & lake for the kids which was nice! The only issue I had was my son was drinking water in his sippy cup when the weather was extremely hot and I had a worker tell me no drinks or snacks were allowed lol. Which I informed her it was water & he would be having something to drink while swimming in the summer. ANOTHER thing that absolutely infuriated me was the fact they PRO RATED us when we came but when we left they charged us $400 dollars for FIVE (5 ) DAYS! I asked why we were not being pro rated, & more so every campground we had stayed at always did. No reply back to the pro rated text but I did get a “Campground policy” for when I asked for clarification on $400 for a five day stay. overall do NOT stay here in my opinion. I’m not the only family that has had an issue. This is my opinion firmly, but I can definitely say we will NEVER be back.
