The Little Campground and Cabin Introduce
For local users seeking a unique and tranquil "camping near me" experience, The Little Campground and Cabin in Elk Park, North Carolina, offers a secluded mountain getaway unlike many others. Located at 564 Curtis Creek Rd, this intimate campground provides a peaceful retreat characterized by its limited number of spacious lots and direct access to the natural beauty of the surrounding mountains and a crystal-clear stream.
As its name suggests, The Little Campground and Cabin distinguishes itself within the "camping near me" category by its small size and emphasis on privacy. With only four campsites available in a circular layout, guests can expect a more exclusive and less crowded camping experience compared to larger campgrounds. This limited number of sites contributes to the overall quiet and serene atmosphere, making it an ideal destination for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life and immerse themselves in nature. The reviewer who noted the "huge lots" further emphasizes the spaciousness and privacy afforded to each camper, enhancing the sense of seclusion.
One of the standout features of The Little Campground and Cabin, as highlighted by a satisfied visitor, is the proximity of two of the four campsites to a "crystal clear mountain stream," located literally less than 10 feet away. This direct access to the flowing water not only provides a picturesque backdrop but also creates a soothing and peaceful ambiance, particularly at night. The gentle sound of the stream is described as conducive to a "very peaceful night's sleep," underscoring the tranquility of this "camping near me" gem. For those who appreciate the sights and sounds of nature, these creek-side campsites offer an unparalleled experience.
While The Little Campground and Cabin may not boast an extensive list of major amenities, it does provide essential services such as laundry facilities and trash pickup, ensuring a degree of convenience for its guests. However, as one reviewer astutely pointed out, the "biggest amenity they could offer is the private, quiet beauty of their mountain park." This highlights the campground's core appeal: its natural setting and the sense of peace and seclusion it provides. For those who prioritize tranquility and immersion in nature over extensive amenities, The Little Campground and Cabin offers a compelling proposition within the "camping near me" options.
The owner's approach to guest interaction is also noteworthy. According to a review, the owner met guests at check-in and then respected their privacy, being available via contact information if needed. This balance of hospitality and respect for personal space is often appreciated by campers seeking a quiet and undisturbed retreat. The reviewer explicitly mentioned that this approach was "much appreciated," indicating that it contributes positively to the overall experience at this "camping near me" location.
Another practical consideration for potential visitors is the availability of shade. One reviewer noted that "Site 2 is the only one with full shade." This information can be particularly useful for those planning their stay during warmer months and who prefer a shaded campsite. When booking, this detail could influence site selection based on individual preferences for sun or shade exposure. This level of detail shared by past visitors helps prospective campers make informed decisions about their stay at The Little Campground and Cabin.
The overall consensus from the reviews is that The Little Campground and Cabin, despite a perceived slightly higher price point ("a little steep on price"), is "definitely worth it if you like secluded mountain getaways." The unique combination of spacious, private lots, the proximity to the crystal-clear mountain stream, and the quiet beauty of the mountain park create a compelling value proposition for those seeking a tranquil escape within the "camping near me" category. The recurring sentiment of guests wanting to return ("Will definitely be staying again," "Definitely a place in which we would return") speaks volumes about the positive experiences offered.
The environment of The Little Campground and Cabin is clearly its standout feature. Situated in the mountains of Elk Park, NC, it offers a secluded natural setting characterized by its quiet beauty and the presence of a pristine mountain stream. The limited number of campsites enhances the sense of privacy and tranquility. The "huge lots" provide ample space for campers to spread out and enjoy their surroundings. The availability of both sunny and fully shaded sites (specifically Site 2) caters to different preferences. The overall atmosphere is one of peaceful immersion in nature, making it a true mountain getaway within easy reach for local users searching "camping near me."
In terms of services, while not extensive, The Little Campground and Cabin provides essential amenities such as laundry facilities and trash pickup. The primary service appears to be the provision of well-maintained, private campsites in a beautiful natural setting. The owner's personalized yet unobtrusive approach to guest interaction also contributes to the overall service quality. The focus here is clearly on providing a clean, safe, and private environment for guests to enjoy the natural surroundings, rather than on offering a wide array of recreational facilities often found in larger campgrounds within the "camping near me" spectrum.
Key features of The Little Campground and Cabin include its exceptionally private and spacious campsites (only four in total), the direct access of some sites to a crystal-clear mountain stream, the secluded and quiet mountain setting, the availability of laundry facilities and trash pickup, and the owner's respectful and helpful approach. The unique charm and tranquility of this small campground set it apart for those prioritizing a peaceful and private natural experience when searching for "camping near me."

Its private, spacious campsites, the soothing presence of the crystal-clear mountain stream, and the overall quiet beauty of the location make it a worthwhile destination for those who value privacy and immersion in nature. The Little Campground and Cabin Reviews
A little steep on price, but definitely worth it if you like secluded mountain getaways. Huge lots, only 4 of them in the circle, 2 of which are literally less than 10ft from a crystal clear mountain stream. No major amenities but they have laundry and trash pickup, and(at least to me) the biggest amenity they could offer is the private, quiet beauty of their mountain park. Will definitely be staying again if I pass through the area.
Aug 18, 2024 · Dan DanVery quaint, only 4 sites. Owner met us at checkin then left us alone, but gave us contact information if needed, much appreciated. Nice flowing stream next to our campsite, made for very peaceful nights' sleep. Site 2 is the only one with full shade. Definitely a place in which we would return.
Jun 27, 2024 · Tim AdamsThis by far is the most amazing campground. The views are amazing and Maxine made us feel right at home. The roads leading in are a little challenging as we are from Florida and not used to hills and sharp turns. The only sounds you will here is rushing water from the creek that runs through the campground. Very little traffic from the road.Full hookups with 50 amp service. WiFi was strong, and fast enough for everything we needed to do. We were also given a Direct TV remote and plugged our rig into their cable connection. Great picture quality. Large Washer and Dryer for only $1 each.Restaurants and shopping are 10 minutes away.Highly recommend staying for a night or a week.
Apr 23, 2018 · Dave CiprianiMaxine! You are a wonderful host, and my wife and I had the best time staying at your campground. Sadly, we left a day early to avoid bad weather, but we will be back soon for the fall foliage. Everything good people had to say about this campground is true and more. It was the easiest decision of our trip.
Sep 04, 2022 · felix sanchezThis is such a wonderful little campground! First off the owner (Maxine) was so gracious and not only helped me back into my site but also checked on us each day and made sure we had everything we needed. Our site was next to a nice running stream that was so peaceful to listen to and was also great entertainment for our kids. And the sites are very large so you have plenty of room to relax. Plus you are in close proximity to everything around this area so very convenient to go out during the day and explore with lots to do. We will definitely be back and so appreciate all the care and attention from the owners and letting us stay at their beautiful campground!
