The Retreat at Shenandoah Meadows Introduce
Are you searching for a "camping near me" experience that offers a blend of amenities and a somewhat secluded feel? Consider The Retreat at Shenandoah Meadows, located at 443 Meadow View Ln, Fort Valley, VA 22652, USA. You can reach them at (540) 933-6650 or their mobile number, +1 540-933-6650. Based on recent customer feedback, this location offers some appealing aspects along with a few considerations for potential visitors looking for "camping near me."
The environment at The Retreat at Shenandoah Meadows seems to offer a degree of seclusion while still being conveniently located. One reviewer noted that the location was "convenient, not far from Luray," providing access to dining options. This suggests that while you can enjoy a camping atmosphere, you're not entirely remote, which could be a plus for those who appreciate having nearby conveniences. Another reviewer who hosted a camping weekend mentioned that the "location to Shenandoah national park was perfect!" However, a subsequent review clarified that the site is actually "an hour away from Shenandoah National Park," which is an important distinction for those prioritizing immediate proximity to the park's entrances and attractions. The overall feel seems to be one of a somewhat secluded retreat within reasonable driving distance of local amenities and attractions.
In terms of services and amenities, The Retreat at Shenandoah Meadows appears to offer essential facilities for a comfortable stay. The first reviewer mentioned that the "amenities were everything we needed," which suggests the presence of standard campground facilities. Another reviewer specifically highlighted "hot showers" as a positive aspect. However, there was a mention of "damp firewood supplied," which made starting a fire difficult. This is a practical consideration for campers who plan on having campfires. The booking process was described as "seamless" by one guest, indicating an easy start to the camping experience.
A notable feature, albeit an unexpected one, mentioned by a reviewer was the presence of a "friendly cat" that made their camping trip memorable. This adds a unique and potentially charming element to the experience for animal lovers. The reviewer even included pictures and asked others to be kind to the cat if seen. This suggests a more relaxed and perhaps less rigidly structured campground environment where local fauna, even friendly felines, might be part of the experience.
However, there are a couple of important considerations highlighted in the reviews. One significant point was that "accessing the campsites was a surprise as they required an SUV, not mentioned on the website." The reviewer with a boyfriend was only able to camp because they had an SUV. This is crucial information for potential visitors looking for "camping near me"; if you don't have a suitable vehicle, accessing the campsites might be problematic. This suggests that the terrain leading to the campsites could be uneven or require higher clearance vehicles. Another issue mentioned was "unexpected and disruptive sirens" going off multiple times, which disrupted sleep. This potential noise pollution is something to be aware of when considering a stay at The Retreat at Shenandoah Meadows.
In summary, The Retreat at Shenandoah Meadows offers a "camping near me" experience in Fort Valley, VA, with convenient access to Luray's dining options and is within an hour's drive of Shenandoah National Park. The amenities are reported to be adequate, including hot showers. However, potential campers should be aware that accessing the campsites may require an SUV, and there have been instances of damp firewood and disruptive sirens. On a more positive note, a friendly cat might make your stay memorable. If you are equipped with an SUV and are prepared for potential noise, and perhaps bringing your own firewood, this could be an enjoyable camping spot, especially if you appreciate a location that feels somewhat secluded yet is still close to conveniences. To get more specific information about the campsite accessibility and current conditions, it would be advisable to contact The Retreat at Shenandoah Meadows directly at (540) 933-6650.

The Retreat at Shenandoah Meadows Reviews
We hosted a camping weekend for friends and family here and it exceeded our expectations! The amenities were everything we needed and location to Shenandoah national park was perfect! Booking process was seamless. We hope to come Back!
Mar 19, 2024 · BaseCamp GlampingRecently camped at this site with my boyfriend and had an eventful stay. The location was convenient, not far from Luray, offering great dining options nearby while feeling secluded enough for a camping experience. However, accessing the campsites was a surprise as they required an SUV, not mentioned on the website. Luckily, we had ours; otherwise, camping wouldn't have been possible.Another setback was the damp firewood supplied, making it tricky to start a fire on the first night. Additionally, unexpected and disruptive sirens went off multiple times, disrupting our sleep.Yet, amidst these surprises, a friendly cat graced us with its presence, making our camping trip memorable. The hot showers were a plus, but it's worth noting that the site is actually an hour away from Shenandoah National Park. So, if proximity to the park is a priority, this might not be your best bet.So if you're up for a mix of adventure and unexpected furry friends, this could be an enjoyable camping spot.P.S. Here’s some pictures of the cat. If you see him/ her , please be kind and give them lots of love and attention. He/she is the best kitty ever.
Nov 30, 2023 · Sonika Neupane*Read til end*Fantastic tiny home/cabin! AC unit one bed upstairs one pull out cozy couch/bed on main floor. Microwave, mini fridge, smart Tv and WiFi! Sleeps four people comfortably with option to have a tent outside for star gazers! Amazing view of the mountains, awesome animal songs all night and the sun (if in tent) wakes you up ever so naturally. Beautiful pond drains into a stream that falls over a a series of little cliffs. Felt rejuvenated after spending a weekend getaway here. The owner is absolutely in love with his property. He has been waiting a long time to make his dream a reality, has big plans in motion to make this great site a wonderland for outdoor enthusiasts of all kinds.Highly recommended for hikers since there are many trails all around download "all trails" to see them all. :)*Bring real bug repellant if you go on trails or venture around camp site. Ticks live in VA woods.
Jun 10, 2020 · Thomas TeknippBeautiful, I'm so in love with nature. This place has everything for a great camping experience.
Jul 21, 2021 · Michelle Fishin FinaticTent sites were ok, but the closer bathhouse to the sites were “closed” when we visited. There was no signage to let us know to use the cabin bathrooms, or that potable water was only available from those bathrooms. Like other reviews mention, it could be tricky reaching the tent sites without 4 wheel drive. We bought firewood from the site but it was pretty wet (left out uncovered) making it hard to start a fire.On the plus side, the tent sites are really large and feel secluded, and the site is relatively close to Shenandoah Natl Park.
