We decided to stay for 1 evening because our home had some showings, it's for sale. As a non member we rented 1 commercial space, I was told they only had 10 commercial spaces and that most spots were for members. OK, cool, park looks about half full, didn't think it would be a big deal. He assigned me my spot, showed me where to go and was just generally a very nice gentlemen. The service was awesome. The spot he chose for us, not so much. The spot was so gross, flooded out with a giant lake in the grass, my trailer tires sank a few inches into the mud when I backed in. There was inches deep, and so squishy mud all around my truck. I had to walk all around all this nasty, nasty mud to do anything. I could barely reach any of the hook ups on the RV because of the mud. I had to put one foot on a rock and stretch as far as I could to hook up electric and water, I almost fell. Now I know I should have had proper boots with me. But it was my first set up day ever and I never in a million years thought I'd be in a mud bog at a TRAILER PARK!I don't that I'd ever wanna be a member after this event.I have pictures, but I don't see where to add them here. - Loyd Pike

Thousand Trails Thunderbird Introduce

Looking for "camping near me" in the Monroe, Washington area? Thousand Trails Thunderbird, situated at 26702 Ben Howard Rd, Monroe, WA 98272, USA, presents itself as a camping destination with a mix of experiences, according to recent customer feedback. You can reach them at (360) 794-4030 or +1 360-794-4030 for inquiries and reservations.

Based on the available reviews, Thousand Trails Thunderbird operates primarily as a membership-based campground, with a limited number of commercial spaces available for non-members. One non-member who stayed for a single night due to their home being shown for sale rented one of these commercial spaces. They were informed that only about ten commercial spots existed and that the majority of the campground was reserved for members. This suggests that availability for non-members might be limited, and it's advisable to inquire about space in advance.

The non-member highlighted the excellent service they received upon arrival, describing the staff member who assisted them as a "very nice gentleman" who assigned their spot and provided guidance. This positive interaction indicates a potentially welcoming and helpful staff presence at Thousand Trails Thunderbird.

However, the specific camping spot assigned to this non-member was a significant point of concern. The reviewer described it as "so gross, flooded out with a giant lake in the grass." Their trailer tires reportedly sank into the mud upon backing in, and they encountered inches-deep, squishy mud all around their truck. This muddy condition made it difficult to move around the site and even affected access to the RV hookups for electricity and water. The reviewer recounted having to stretch awkwardly, placing one foot on a rock to reach the connections, almost resulting in a fall. This experience underscores the importance of being prepared for potentially uneven or challenging ground conditions, especially during wetter times of the year.

This initial negative experience with the assigned site led the non-member to express reluctance about becoming a member in the future. It's important to note that this review reflects a single experience with a specific commercial space and may not be representative of the entire campground or the member-exclusive areas.

In contrast, a member who visited Thousand Trails Thunderbird with a newly purchased RV shared a positive experience. Arriving in the early evening, they found that member spots were fully booked for the next couple of days. However, the ranger and manager reportedly went "above and beyond" to accommodate them in a spot without incurring extra charges. This act of customer care deeply impressed the member, who described the staff as "so sweet" and genuinely caring about the people staying at the campground. This positive review highlights a commitment to customer satisfaction and a willingness to assist campers, even when facing booking challenges.

The member's experience suggests a potentially strong sense of community and helpfulness within the Thousand Trails Thunderbird environment, particularly for members. Their willingness to recommend the place to friends and family further attests to a positive overall impression, despite the initial difficulty in finding an available member spot.

Considering the category "camping near me," Thousand Trails Thunderbird offers a camping option in the Monroe, WA area. Its primary structure as a membership-based campground means that local users interested in frequent camping might find value in a Thousand Trails membership, which could grant access to this and other affiliated campgrounds. For non-members, the availability of commercial spaces appears to be limited, and as indicated by one review, the quality of these spaces might vary.

The environment of Thousand Trails Thunderbird seems to encompass grassy areas, although the condition of these areas can be susceptible to flooding and mud, as highlighted in one review. Potential local users should be aware of this possibility, especially during or after periods of rain. The presence of commercial spaces suggests that the campground is equipped to handle RVs, likely offering hookups for water and electricity, although the accessibility of these hookups can be affected by site conditions.

While specific details about other services and features are not provided in these reviews, typical campgrounds often offer amenities such as restroom facilities, showers, and potentially laundry services. For a membership-based campground like Thousand Trails Thunderbird, there might also be additional facilities or activities available for members, such as recreational areas, clubhouses, or organized events. However, this cannot be confirmed based solely on the given information.

Promotional information is absent from the provided text. Local users interested in staying at Thousand Trails Thunderbird, whether as members or non-members, should contact the campground directly at the provided phone numbers to inquire about membership options, availability of commercial spaces, rates, and any current promotions. It would also be prudent to ask about the condition of the campsites, especially if visiting during or after wet weather.

In conclusion, Thousand Trails Thunderbird near Monroe, WA, presents a mixed picture based on the limited reviews. While staff service appears to be generally positive and accommodating, particularly in addressing booking issues for members, the condition of at least one non-member commercial space was significantly problematic due to flooding and mud. As a primarily membership-based campground, local users considering it for their "camping near me" needs should weigh the benefits of membership against the potential limitations and the reported variability in site conditions. Non-members should inquire about the availability and condition of commercial spaces before booking a stay.
