Verlot Campground

Mountain Loop Hwy, Granite Falls, WA 98252, USA

4.0
Nestled in along the twists and turns of the Verlot River, the Verlot Campground boasts amazing views with minimalist camping perfection. There are bathrooms easily accessible, with flush toilets, potable water spouts, and communal dumpsters. Of course being so close to the water, the mosquitos were mosquitoing 🤣 but a little citronella will do the trick! While I couldn’t see bringing my 40ft trailer here due to size restrictions (contrary to the website) it was perfect for the roof top tent set up! Small bonus (to me) this was out of cell reception 🙌🏻 so it was nice to be unplugged! - Andrea Major

Verlot Campground Introduce

For local adventurers in search of a serene "camping near me" experience, Verlot Campground, located along the Mountain Loop Hwy in Granite Falls, WA 98252, USA, offers a unique opportunity to connect with nature. Situated along the picturesque Verlot River, this campground boasts stunning views and a minimalist approach to camping, perfect for those seeking a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The reviews from fellow campers provide valuable insights into the environment, facilities, and key considerations for planning a visit to this off-grid destination.

The environment of Verlot Campground is a significant highlight, as described by one reviewer who noted its location "along the twists and turns of the Verlot River" and the "amazing views" it offers. The proximity to the river suggests a natural and potentially scenic setting, where campers can enjoy the sights and sounds of flowing water. This riverside location likely provides opportunities for activities such as fishing, exploring the riverbanks, and simply relaxing in a natural environment. The description evokes a sense of being immersed in the beauty of the Pacific Northwest, making it an attractive option for local users who appreciate natural landscapes and the soothing presence of water.

In terms of services and facilities, Verlot Campground offers essential amenities to ensure a comfortable, albeit minimalist, camping experience. The availability of "bathrooms easily accessible, with flush toilets" is a significant convenience that many campers appreciate, offering a more comfortable alternative to pit toilets often found in more remote locations. Additionally, the presence of "potable water spouts" ensures that campers have access to fresh drinking water, a crucial necessity for any camping trip. Communal dumpsters are also provided, allowing for proper waste disposal and helping to maintain the cleanliness of the campground.

However, it's important to note that Verlot Campground is described as a "nice off the grid campground" with "no hook-ups." This means that RV campers should be prepared for dry camping, without direct connections to electricity, water, or sewer at their individual sites. While potable water is available at spickets, campers relying on onboard water tanks will need to manage their usage accordingly. The absence of hookups contributes to the campground's off-grid appeal for those seeking a more rustic and self-sufficient camping experience.

One reviewer pointed out that while the website might suggest otherwise, bringing a large, 40ft trailer to Verlot Campground is likely not feasible due to size restrictions. This is a crucial piece of information for local RV owners, advising them to consider smaller setups or tent camping instead. The reviewer found it "perfect for the roof top tent set up," indicating that the campground can comfortably accommodate smaller vehicles and tent configurations.

Another significant aspect of Verlot Campground, which might be a bonus for some and a consideration for others, is the lack of cell phone reception. One reviewer specifically mentioned, "this was out of cell reception 🙌🏻 so it was nice to be unplugged!" For local users looking to truly disconnect from technology and immerse themselves in nature, this lack of connectivity can be a major draw, offering a chance to escape digital distractions and fully embrace the tranquility of the surroundings. However, for those who need to stay connected for work or safety reasons, this lack of cell service is an important factor to consider.

Regarding maintenance, one review offered a mixed perspective. While acknowledging "good restroom facilities," the reviewer also stated that the campground was "not maintained very well" and cited an example of the men's room running out of supplies over the 4th of July weekend without being promptly restocked. This suggests that while basic facilities are available, the level of upkeep might be inconsistent. Local users planning to visit, especially during peak seasons, should be prepared for potentially less-than-perfect maintenance and consider bringing their own essential supplies, such as hand sanitizer and toilet paper, as a precaution.

The proximity to the Verlot River does come with a common consideration: mosquitoes. One reviewer humorously noted that "the mosquitos were mosquitoing 🤣 but a little citronella will do the trick!" This suggests that while mosquitoes are present, particularly due to the proximity to water, they might be manageable with standard insect repellents like citronella. Local campers should come prepared with their preferred mosquito protection methods to ensure a comfortable experience, especially during dawn and dusk when mosquitoes are typically most active.

Given the information available, Verlot Campground offers a unique blend of natural beauty and minimalist camping. Its riverside location and off-grid nature make it appealing for those seeking a peaceful retreat away from modern conveniences and digital connectivity. The availability of flush toilets and potable water provides a level of comfort not always found in more remote campgrounds. However, potential visitors should be aware of the likely size restrictions for large RVs and the potential for mosquito activity. The comment regarding maintenance suggests that while basic facilities are present, campers might need to be somewhat self-sufficient.

To obtain the most up-to-date information on site availability, specific size restrictions for vehicles, current conditions, and any specific guidelines or recommendations, local users are encouraged to contact Verlot Campground directly at (530) 932-0242 or +1 530-932-0242. Speaking with the campground staff will provide the most accurate details for planning a local camping trip to this scenic riverside destination.

In conclusion, Verlot Campground presents an opportunity for local "camping near me" enthusiasts to enjoy the beauty of the Verlot River in an off-grid setting. With essential amenities like flush toilets and potable water, it offers a balance of comfort and rustic charm. The lack of cell service can be a welcome feature for those seeking digital detox. However, potential campers should be mindful of potential size restrictions for large RVs, the presence of mosquitoes, and the possibility of inconsistent maintenance. By coming prepared and perhaps contacting the campground for the latest information, local users can enjoy a memorable and unplugged camping experience at Verlot Campground.
