Esswine Group Camp Introduce
For local residents planning a group camping trip and searching for "camping near me" that can accommodate a large number of people with ample space, Esswine Group Camp, located on Mountain Loop Hwy in Granite Falls, Washington, presents an ideal solution. Based on customer reviews, this campground excels in providing extensive space for campers and tents, making it well-suited for gatherings of friends and families. Situated along a gorgeous river and surrounded by plenty of forest, Esswine Group Camp offers a blend of natural beauty and the practicality of accommodating large groups.
The Expansive and Natural Environment:
Esswine Group Camp is characterized by its spaciousness, as highlighted by a reviewer noting the ability to fit "soo many people into one camping area" with "so much room for everyone to have their own space." This suggests that the campground is designed to handle larger groups comfortably, providing ample area for setting up multiple tents and allowing individuals to maintain a sense of privacy. The presence of "lots of forest for kids to explore" indicates a natural, wooded environment that encourages outdoor activities and provides a sense of immersion in nature. The campground's proximity to a "gorgeous river" is another significant environmental feature, offering opportunities for water-based recreation such as splashing and floating, as mentioned by a returning visitor. The sound and sight of the river likely contribute to the overall ambiance of the campground, enhancing the natural appeal. While one review mentioned the need to clear a trail to get to the river and described the initial part as "very dangerous and steep," the positive sentiment about the river itself suggests that the effort is worthwhile for access to this natural amenity. The overall environment appears to be one that encourages exploration and enjoyment of the outdoors, particularly for groups with children.
Limited Details on Specific Services and Amenities:
The provided reviews offer limited information regarding the specific services and amenities at Esswine Group Camp. One review mentions a "port a potty" that was "so smelly," indicating that restroom facilities are likely portable toilets. This suggests a more rustic camping experience compared to campgrounds with permanent restroom buildings. The reviewer's suggestion to have a spray or something indicates a desire for better maintenance or odor control for these facilities. Despite this concern, the other reviewer described the campground as a "favorite place," implying that the overall experience outweighs this particular drawback. Information regarding other amenities such as water sources, fire rings, picnic tables, or waste disposal is not explicitly provided in the reviews. Given that it is a "group camp," it is reasonable to assume that there are designated areas for campfires and possibly picnic tables suitable for larger groups. However, potential visitors should be prepared for potentially basic amenities and plan accordingly by bringing necessary supplies and equipment.
Key Features and Appeal for Group Camping:
The primary feature of Esswine Group Camp is its capacity to comfortably accommodate large groups, making it an excellent choice for family reunions, gatherings of friends, or other group outings. The abundance of space ensures that everyone can set up their tents and have their own area without feeling crowded. The access to a "gorgeous river" provides a central point for recreation and enjoyment, offering a natural gathering spot for the group. The extensive forest areas are ideal for children to explore and engage in outdoor play, adding to the family-friendly appeal of the campground. The fact that it is a "favorite place" for some visitors who "keep coming back" suggests a consistently positive experience, likely due to the combination of space, natural beauty, and the opportunity for group bonding. While the trail to the river might require some effort and caution at the beginning, the reward of reaching the river seems to be a significant draw for visitors.
Important Considerations and Lack of Promotional Information:
Potential visitors should take note of the comment regarding the smelly port-a-potty, as this might be a factor to consider, especially for those with sensitivities. The mention of having to clear a trail to the river and the "very dangerous and steep" beginning of the trail is also an important safety consideration, particularly for groups with young children or individuals with mobility issues. It would be prudent to inquire about the current condition of the trail when making a reservation. The positive review from returning visitors serves as a strong recommendation, highlighting the ample space, forest exploration opportunities, and the beautiful river as key attractions. As there is no specific promotional information provided, local users interested in booking Esswine Group Camp should contact the provided phone numbers: (530) 932-0242 or +1 530-932-0242. Calling ahead will allow for inquiries about availability, group size limitations, specific amenities, and any current conditions or warnings regarding the trail to the river or restroom facilities. Given its suitability for large groups and its natural setting along the Mountain Loop Highway, Esswine Group Camp is likely to be a popular choice, so early booking is advisable.
In conclusion, Esswine Group Camp near Granite Falls, WA, offers a fantastic "camping near me" option for local users planning a group camping adventure. Its standout features include the ability to accommodate large numbers of people with ample space, extensive forest areas for exploration, and access to a gorgeous river for recreation. While there are mentions of a potentially challenging trail to the river and concerns about the cleanliness of the portable toilets, the overall positive experiences of returning visitors underscore its appeal for group gatherings seeking a natural and spacious setting along the scenic Mountain Loop Highway. Contacting the campground directly is recommended to obtain detailed information and make reservations for your group's next outdoor getaway.

It was great to fit soo many people into one camping area. And have so much room for everyone to have their own space. But the port a potty was so smelly. Should have a spray or something. And we had to clear a trail and very dangerous and steep at the beginning of the trail to get to the river
Aug 21, 2023 · Jodi FleuryThis is a favorite place for us and friends. Plenty of space for campers and tents. Lots of forest for kids to explore. Gorgeous river to splash or float in. We keep coming back.
Aug 24, 2021 · LaurelLots of hidden spaces for camping for a good variety of privacy.Pretty close to the water.Looks like it will be excellent during berry season! Lisa of huckleberry and salmon berry bushes. Just a sprinkling of thimble berry. Some beautiful trees, a good common area, with the only downside of the table and fire area being the lack of trees to make rain cover.Bathroom door should be replaced with something not warped with a new lock. Bring a little solar motion light for inside.Had a great Memorial Day weekend here with this as base camp to access all the nearby hikes!

I recommend this place. It has a lot of space. You can put 6 houses/camping tents with their own fire place (you could put many more houses). It has a large table and is very close to the river (deep enough to swim). It has a bathroom, although it smells bad.
