Environment and Setting:
Based on visitor feedback, the Tionesta Recreation Area Campground appears to be a quiet and clean location, making it a potentially peaceful retreat for those seeking a break in nature. One reviewer who stayed there while attending an event at nearby Two Mile Run County Park noted that the campground was quiet. The proximity to Tionesta Lake suggests opportunities for enjoying the waterfront and the natural beauty of the area, although the reviews provided do not elaborate on specific lake activities.
The campsites themselves seem to offer a comfortable setup. One visitor described their site (number 19) as "clean and roomy" and appreciated that it was "easy to back in and flat," which is particularly beneficial for those with trailers or RVs. Another reviewer mentioned that "all sites seem to be very shaded," which would be a significant advantage during warmer months, providing a cooler and more comfortable camping environment. Depending on the specific site, there might also be trees suitable for hammocks, adding to the relaxation possibilities.
Services and Amenities:
The campground offers essential services for a convenient stay. One reviewer explicitly mentioned "full hookups," which is a significant amenity for RV campers, typically including water, electricity, and sewer connections. This suggests that at least some sites within the Tionesta Recreation Area Campground are equipped to handle the needs of RVs requiring these services.
In terms of facilities, the reviews indicate that the bathrooms are clean, which is always a welcome aspect of any campground. However, one reviewer was unsure if showers were available, stating, "I have not seen the showers (not sure they have)." This suggests that while the bathrooms are well-maintained, the presence of showers might be limited or not immediately apparent. Local users planning a stay might want to confirm the availability of showers when making their reservations.
Features and Layout:
One reviewer noted that the "majority of the campsites are close to each other." This might be a consideration for campers who prefer more secluded sites. However, it could also foster a sense of community among campers. Depending on your preference, the proximity of sites could be a pro or a con.
The mention of potential trees for hammocks on some sites highlights a natural feature that can enhance the camping experience, allowing for relaxation and enjoying the shaded environment. The ease of backing into at least one site suggests that the campground layout is generally accessible for different types of camping setups.
While the reviews are from individuals who were either passing through for a local event or focused on the campsite amenities, the location near Tionesta Lake itself is a significant feature. Tionesta Lake is a reservoir on the Allegheny River, known for its recreational opportunities, which might include boating, fishing, and hiking in the surrounding Allegheny National Forest. Although not directly mentioned in the reviews about the campground, the proximity to the lake adds to the overall appeal of the location for outdoor enthusiasts.
Promotional Information (Based on Reviews):
The positive aspects highlighted in the reviews serve as a form of promotion. The campground is described as quiet, with clean and roomy sites that are easy to access. The availability of full hookups is a significant draw for RVers. The shaded nature of the campsites and the cleanliness of the bathrooms are also strong positives mentioned by visitors.
For local users attending events in the area, such as the Ten Miles 4 Two Mile race mentioned, the campground offers a convenient and comfortable place to stay. The quiet atmosphere would be particularly welcome after a day of activities.

Tionesta Recreation Area Campground Reviews
We stayed here while attendingThe Ten Miles 4 Two Mile (TM4TM) at Two Mile Run County Park July 13 and 14 2024Did not really explore the campground... but it was quiet, and our site (19) was clean and roomy.... easy to back in and flat...
Jul 15, 2024 · Misty HightowerGreat Campground with full hookups.Depending on the site, you may have some trees for hammocks. All sites seems to be very shaded. Bathrooms are clean. I have not seen the showers (not sure they have).Majority of the campsites are close to each other.

Jul 14, 2024 · Paul PriceIt's a typical COE Park.Nice well marked trails🥾🚶 Great fishing 🚣♂️and the beautiful boating area. Well maintained. Lots of history. The first time I've ever seen wheelchair accessible picnic tables!
Jun 13, 2023 · Michael ScottI struggled a little with this review .. was between a 3 and 4.. but we had a good time so I had to give it a 4 even with some of the issues... LolFirst . The signage to get to it if your aren't familiar with the area leaves alot to be desired.. lol.. we ended up at the boat ramp area.. first.. but go where we needed eventually.. luckily we had a popup and not a huge 5th wheel or something 😬There is no limit to the amount of dogs you can have.. I am not anti dog.. but.. I'm pretty sure no one wants to hear barking from a bazillion dogs .. lol . That being said I was impressed with how well most of the dogs behaved for the most part, generally only a few issues with the dogs going nuts whenever new dogs walked by.. also was surprised most dogs didn't appear leashed at the sites . They were when walking . I would have been more concerned had I had young children. There is one shower house (2 other flush toilet areas)and it was pretty clean even tho it was older.. my issue was with the silly push button water .. I would be ok if it was timed at say.. 2min.. then you had to push again.. but mine.. and I didn't try them all but my husband did say his was the same .. was about 30 seconds.. 😬🫤 pain in the butt to just wash my hair . I assume this may be because all sites are full hookups they assume you really aren't using the shower🤷♀️There was no enforcing of quiet time that I could see.. our neighbors the first night we're up talking loudly till after 1 am .. I generally am not concerned till about midnight but found it odd no ranger of any kind even stopped by.. again not a huge deal but when your packed in so close a little courtesy goes a long way. Plus always pack ear plugs . LolWish they sold firewood and ice on the premises but there is a small general store about 5 min up the road so not too bad .The site we were at was very well taken care of .. we were along the water.. in section 3 .the site as I said is full hookups very convenient. In general a nice place .. access to the water for tubing and fishing .. wish sites were further apart and prefer less dogs .. I would have given in 3.5 if I could ..
