Trail Creek Campground

Boise National Forest, Forest Road #698F, Cascade, ID 83611, USA

4.0
Nice little campground. Hosts keep it extremely clean. Bathrooms clean and bug free. I watched them go from site to site and rake and pick up any leftover trash. Definitely thorough. The sites are nice size but parking is tight. And if you bring a small RV you will be parked on the road in some places. Perfect sites for tents and small pop ups. In my opinion. Close to the river. I caught two fish on spinners. Later in the season probably good fly fishing. Over all not a bad spot. - Joshua Martinez

The environment of Trail Creek Campground is highly praised by visitors. Situated within the Boise National Forest, campers can expect to be surrounded by the natural beauty of Idaho's woodlands and riverine ecosystems. The campground's close proximity to the river is a significant environmental feature, offering the soothing sounds of flowing water and easy access for fishing and potentially other water-related activities. One reviewer specifically mentioned catching fish on spinners, suggesting that the river is a viable spot for angling, with the potential for good fly fishing later in the season. Beyond the river, the area boasts abundant hiking opportunities, allowing campers to explore the surrounding mountain sides and immerse themselves in the natural landscape. The clear night skies are also a notable environmental feature, with one camper describing "amazing stars" and even spotting shooting stars, making it a fantastic location for stargazing.

In terms of services, Trail Creek Campground is noted for its exceptional cleanliness. One reviewer commended the campground hosts for their thorough maintenance, observing them raking and picking up any leftover trash from site to site. The bathrooms are also reported to be clean and bug-free, which is a significant plus for camper comfort. While specific details about other amenities like potable water, fire pits, and picnic tables are not explicitly mentioned, the emphasis on cleanliness suggests a well-maintained basic infrastructure. However, it's important to note a potential limitation regarding parking. While the campsites are described as being a nice size, parking is reported to be tight, and those with small RVs might find themselves parked on the road in some locations. This suggests that the campground might be better suited for tent camping and small pop-up campers, as highlighted by one reviewer. Local users with larger RVs should likely inquire about site suitability and parking arrangements before planning a visit.

The features of Trail Creek Campground are diverse and cater to a range of outdoor interests. Its prime location by the river is a major draw for fishing enthusiasts and those who enjoy the ambiance of a flowing waterway. The abundance of hiking opportunities in the surrounding area appeals to those looking to explore the mountain landscapes and engage in physical activity. The exceptional stargazing, thanks to potentially low light pollution in the national forest, offers a magical experience for night-sky enthusiasts. Additionally, the proximity to natural hot springs down the road, as mentioned by one reviewer, adds another layer of attraction, providing an opportunity for relaxation and enjoying the geothermal features of the region. The overall atmosphere is described as wonderful, making it a great place to spend time with friends and/or family, fostering connections in a beautiful natural setting.

However, local users planning to bring RVs should be mindful of the reported tight parking and potential need to park on the road for smaller RVs. This limitation might make the campground less ideal for larger recreational vehicles. Tent campers and those with small pop-ups will likely find the sites more accommodating. It would be beneficial for potential visitors to contact the Boise National Forest service or the campground directly (if a phone number is available for the specific campground, although only the general Forest Service number is provided: (208) 756-5100 or +1 208-756-5100 - it would be wise to inquire through this number about Trail Creek Campground specifically) to get more details on site sizes, parking restrictions, and the availability of other amenities.
