Boiling Springs Campground

NF-678, Garden Valley, ID 83622, USA

4.0
Came here for a day ride with our horses. We rode to the hot springs, tied up our horses just to relax a bit. Beautiful fall colors. Beautiful place, lots of trails and water crossings. Trails are very technical for horses, with tight spots, big rocks, narrow steep areas and boggy areas hikers have tried to fill with logs that make it pretty unsafe for horses to cross as there feet can get caught. So a seasoned trail horse is recommended along with a shod horse. I did experience several low growels as well. Sounded like a wolf. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I loved the adventure and plan on returning to camp and explore more. - ShonnaLee

A significant attraction in the area is the presence of hot springs, accessible by trail, where visitors can relax. The area boasts "lots of trails and water crossings," indicating ample opportunities for exploration and adventure.

However, this reviewer also provides important details for those considering bringing horses. The trails are described as "very technical for horses," with challenges such as "tight spots, big rocks, narrow steep areas and boggy areas." Hikers have reportedly attempted to fill the boggy areas with logs, which the reviewer notes makes it "pretty unsafe for horses to cross" as their feet can get caught. This detailed feedback is crucial for equestrians looking for "camping near me" that accommodates horseback riding.

Adding an element of potential wildlife encounters, the same reviewer mentioned experiencing "several low growls" that sounded like a wolf. While this was not a negative experience for them ("I loved the adventure"), it serves as a reminder that the area is home to wildlife, and campers should be aware of and prepared for potential encounters.
