Barney's Campground Introduce
Are you searching for "camping near me" and dreaming of a picturesque getaway in the heart of Boise National Forest? Barney's Campground, located on Forest Rd 555JA, Cascade, ID 83611, USA, offers a promising camping experience based on the positive feedback from recent visitors. Situated within the stunning Boise National Forest, this campground appears to provide beautiful surroundings and convenient access to recreational opportunities. For local users seeking an escape into nature, Barney's Campground warrants a closer look at its environment, services, and features.
The environment of Barney's Campground is clearly a major draw, as highlighted by the reviews. Its location within Boise National Forest suggests a setting characterized by lush forests, potentially mountainous terrain, and access to water features. One reviewer specifically mentioned "great access to the water" and a "great beach," indicating that Barney's Campground is likely situated along a lake or river, offering opportunities for swimming, sunbathing, and potentially boating or fishing. The presence of a beach is particularly appealing for families and those looking to enjoy water-based activities right from their campsite.
The scenic beauty of the area is further emphasized by another reviewer who stated, "This place was beautiful!" and noted that the sites have "amazing views." This suggests that campers at Barney's Campground can expect to be surrounded by the natural splendor of Boise National Forest, with potentially panoramic vistas of the surrounding landscape. The clean sites mentioned in the reviews also contribute to the overall positive perception of the campground's environment, ensuring a pleasant and comfortable camping experience.
In terms of services and features, the reviews provide some valuable insights. The availability of bathrooms is explicitly mentioned, with one reviewer noting that "the restrooms were clean." Clean and well-maintained restroom facilities are a significant factor for many campers, contributing to the overall comfort and hygiene of the camping experience. The proximity of some campsites to the bathrooms, as mentioned by one reviewer ("we were right by the bathrooms as well"), can be a convenience for families and those who prefer easy access to these facilities.
However, one important point to note regarding services is the potential lack of a readily accessible water pump at individual campsites. One reviewer advised, "we couldn't find the water pump in the camp site at all, so bring your own." This suggests that while potable water may be available within the campground, it might not be directly at each site, necessitating that campers bring their own water supply or be prepared to transport it from a central location. It would be prudent for potential visitors to confirm the availability and location of water sources within the campground when making their plans.
A unique and somewhat quirky feature mentioned in one review is a "glow in the dark faces painted in" one of the bathrooms. The reviewer noted that this was done "sneaky" and that while their kids loved it, some might find it "creepy." This unusual detail adds a touch of unexpected character to the campground's facilities and highlights the diverse experiences campers can have. It also suggests a somewhat informal and perhaps community-oriented atmosphere where such playful additions might occur.
Another practical piece of information from a reviewer concerns the campground layout and access. They recommended "a sign outside the campground that states the campground does not have an exit other than the one entered from." This observation indicates that Barney's Campground might have a looped road system, and visitors should be aware that they will need to exit via the same entrance. This is useful information for planning arrival and departure, especially for those with larger vehicles or trailers. The reviewer noted that many people had to turn around in their campsite (#8) because they mistakenly thought there was a throughway.
The fact that the sites were described as "easy to find" is another positive feature, suggesting good signage and a well-organized layout within the campground. This can make the arrival and setup process smoother and less stressful, especially for first-time visitors or those arriving after dark.
Given that Barney's Campground is located within Boise National Forest, it is likely managed by the U.S. Forest Service. Campgrounds managed by such entities often have established reservation systems, especially during peak seasons. Local users searching for "camping near me" should check the official Boise National Forest website or recreation.gov for information on availability, reservations, fees, and any specific rules and regulations for Barney's Campground. It is also where any official information regarding water availability or other important notices would be posted.
Regarding promotional information, campgrounds within National Forests typically do not offer commercial promotions in the same way that private campgrounds might. However, there may be seasonal rates or passes available for frequent visitors to National Forest recreation areas. Information on these options can usually be found on the Forest Service's website.
In summary, Barney's Campground in Boise National Forest near Cascade, Idaho, appears to be a highly recommended "camping near me" destination for local users. Its environment is praised for its beauty and access to water, including a beach. The restrooms are noted to be clean, and the campsites offer amazing views and are easy to locate. However, campers should be aware of the potential need to bring their own water and the looped layout of the campground. The unique glow-in-the-dark bathroom art adds a memorable touch. For the most accurate and up-to-date information on services, reservations, and regulations, prospective visitors should consult the official Boise National Forest website or recreation.gov.
For local adventurers seeking a beautiful and well-maintained camping experience with lake access in Boise National Forest, Barney's Campground seems like an excellent choice. The positive reviews highlight its scenic environment and clean facilities, making it a strong contender when searching for "camping near me" near Cascade, Idaho. Remember to plan ahead, check for water availability, and be mindful of the campground's layout to ensure a smooth and enjoyable trip to this Eastern Idaho gem.

Barney's Campground Reviews
we used camp spot #5. it has great access to the water. great beach. we were right by the bathrooms as well. we couldn't find the water pump in the camp site at all, so bring your own.
Jul 28, 2023 · Alicia TaylorThis place was beautiful! I would recommend a sign outside the campground that states the campground does not have an exit other than the one entered from. We were in campground 8 and so many people had to turn around in our camp because they thought the site went the way through. The restrooms were clean. The one bathroom has some glow in the dark faces painted in it that someone did sneaky. My kids loved it, some might he creeped out by it. 😉 The sites were clean and easy to find and have amazing views. We were so happy with our stay.
Jul 27, 2019 · Rena RhodesWe love Deadwood. Not so much Barney's #6. It said you could fit a 20 foot trailer, but the ground was so uneven that we never could get our trailer level.
