Travis FamCamp Office Introduce
Travis FamCamp, located at 201 Travis Ave, Travis AFB, CA 94535, USA, serves as a dedicated campground for authorized military personnel, including active duty, retired military, and Department of Defense civilians, and their families. Operating within the niche of "RV Parks Near Me" and "Camping Near Me" for its specific user base, it provides a variety of lodging options from full hookup RV sites to tent camping.
The environment of Travis FamCamp presents a mixed picture based on user reviews. Some sections, particularly the "Horseshoe" area, are described as "very nice" and "maintained fairly well." This suggests a pleasant and orderly environment in certain parts of the campground. However, other feedback indicates areas where upkeep might be lacking, with mentions of un-mowed grounds and overgrown areas, including the dog park. The overall character of the campground is noted by some as having evolved to feel more like a "trailer park with permanent campers," which can impact the perception of a traditional recreational campground. The presence of "lots of dogs in fences" and "cats roaming freely" points to a community-like atmosphere, possibly with varying adherence to pet regulations.
Services at Travis FamCamp typically include a range of RV sites with varying levels of hookups. While specific details on the exact number and type of sites (e.g., 30-amp, 50-amp, water, sewer) are not provided in the reviews, military FamCamps generally offer a mix of full hookup, water/electric only, and dry camping sites. Tent camping is also usually an option. Common amenities found at military campgrounds, and likely present here, include a bathhouse with restrooms and showers, and laundry facilities, which are essential for long-term stays. The presence of a "dog park" is a significant feature for pet owners, although its condition, as noted by one reviewer (with "tree cutting piles up and overgrown"), may vary. The FamCamp office serves as the central point of contact for reservations, check-in, and any inquiries, reachable at (707) 424-3583 or +1 707-424-3583.
Key features of Travis FamCamp include its designation as a military-exclusive facility, providing affordable temporary lodging for service members and their families traveling through or stationed at Travis Air Force Base. This offers a secure and convenient option within the base's perimeter. The camp's rules, including those prohibiting loud noises, aim to maintain a peaceful environment, though adherence may vary. The provision of full hookups in many sites caters to RVers who desire all the comforts of home. While not explicitly stated for Travis, many FamCamps also offer amenities like Wi-Fi access (sometimes paid), picnic tables, and fire rings at individual sites. Its location on Travis AFB provides easy access to base facilities such as the commissary, BX (Base Exchange), MWR (Morale, Welfare, and Recreation) services, and medical facilities, which are significant advantages for military families.
Promotional information for Travis FamCamp would ideally highlight its convenience for military travelers, offering a familiar and secure environment. It would emphasize its role in providing affordable temporary lodging close to base resources. However, based on the customer reviews, promotional efforts would also need to address potential concerns. While it aims to provide a "nice campground," particularly in areas like "Horseshoe," some aspects suggest it caters more to long-term stays, leading to a "trailer park" feel. This is a common point of contention at some FamCamps where long-term residency by eligible personnel (e.g., E6 military members using BAH to rent spots long term) might reduce the availability for transient travelers and alter the overall character. The importance of maintaining rules, including those regarding groundskeeping and pet control, would be crucial for improving the overall visitor experience. For those searching "RV Parks Near Me" as authorized military personnel, Travis FamCamp remains a viable, albeit potentially mixed, option for convenient lodging near the base and its amenities in Northern California, specifically serving the Vacaville and Fairfield areas. Prospective visitors are advised to contact the office directly for the most current information on site availability, rules, and conditions, especially if planning a short-term recreational stay.

Travis FamCamp Office Reviews
Worst fam camp I've stayed at. We have been traveling the US and have stayed at many military fam camps. This one is not mowed. Rules are not followed. It's more of a trailer park with permanent campers and a nasty trailer. E6 military members are paid $3k a month BHA are taking advantage of tax payers by renting spots long term and living here. Lots of dogs in fences. Cats roaming freely. Dog park has tree cutting piles up and overgrown.
Apr 09, 2022 · Damon GatesThe campgrounds are very nice especially the front ones called “Horseshoe.” The grounds are maintained fairly well!
May 01, 2025 · James D ScottVery grateful to have access to Travis FamCamp. I was worried plane noise or gate road noise would make day sleeping hard, honestly, haven't heard much with just basic white noise on in my RV. Have loved access to Library, BX, base dog park, commissary and cheaper gas! After 4 years of RV lofe, this has been the safest I've felt in my RV😁
Feb 23, 2020 · Dawn MakynenI have had a great experience staying here. They allow much longer stays than civilian campgrounds, have shaded campsites, 50 and 30 amp sites, and the staff are super friendly and helpful.
Sep 08, 2024 · Chad RWe are very happy with this FamCamp. It's conveniently located (walking distance to the School, BX, Class Six, Commissary, Starbucks, Burger King, and Parks). There are lots of trees and the place is clean. Every RV site has a concrete pad. They stay on residents to clean up after pets. It's quiet (with the exception of gate traffic and planes taking off sporadically). I have no complaints. They upped the rate to $22 per night, but still a steal considering it includes water, electric, and free cable. Washers & Dryers available (3 of each). There are also clean community showers & restrooms. They also have a water station to refill 5 gallon jugs of filtered water. Wish we could stay longer than 90 days at a time!
