Wedge Hill Group Camp Introduce
For local users in Minnesota and the surrounding areas searching for "camping near me," Wedge Hill Group Camp, located at 66CH+J3 in Scandia, MN 55047, presents itself as a potential option, particularly for group camping given its name. However, it is crucial for prospective visitors to consider the information available, including direct user feedback, to form an informed decision about whether this campground meets their needs. Based on a recent customer review, there are several aspects of the environment, services, and features that warrant careful consideration.
The environment of Wedge Hill Group Camp, while located in the Scandia area known for its natural landscapes in Washington County, is described by a recent visitor in a negative light. The review mentions that the campsites were "super close together with barely any privacy between campsites." This suggests that the layout of the campground might not offer the secluded or private experience that some campers prefer. Furthermore, the reviewer found the campground to be "pretty small with not space to spread out and do anything unless you want to be right next to the people at the next site." This indicates a potentially limited area for recreational activities within the campground itself and a lack of spaciousness between individual camping areas.
In terms of services, the review provides specific feedback on at least one key amenity: the outhouse. The reviewer described the outhouse as "gross" and noted that it "had no garbage." This raises concerns about the cleanliness and maintenance of the restroom facilities at the campground. For many campers, clean and well-serviced restrooms are a fundamental requirement, and this negative feedback should be taken into account. The review also mentions water and potential waste disposal, although not directly experienced by the overnight visitor who was asked to leave early. Given the "group camp" designation, it might be reasonable to expect basic services suitable for accommodating larger groups, but the quality, as indicated by the outhouse condition, may be a point of concern.
The features of Wedge Hill Group Camp, as perceived by the reviewer, also present some drawbacks. The lack of privacy due to closely spaced campsites is a significant feature that might deter campers seeking a more secluded experience. The limited space to "spread out and do anything" suggests that the campground might not be ideal for activities that require open areas, such as games or simply relaxing without being in close proximity to other groups. Additionally, the "strict" quiet times and the subsequent eviction for what the reviewer perceived as a minor noise violation (going to their car after 10 pm) highlight a potentially rigid enforcement of rules that might not be suitable for all camping styles, especially those with children or pets who might occasionally cause unintentional noise.
The reviewer's experience of being "kicked out of the park the next morning and given barely any time to pack up and leave" after a noise complaint is a significant point of concern regarding the campground's management and policies. While quiet hours are common in campgrounds to ensure a peaceful environment for all guests, the handling of this situation, as described, appears to have been negative and inconvenient for the visitor. The reviewer explicitly states, "I definitely would not recommend coming, especially if you have kids or dogs that could give you a 'noise complaint.' Please don't come here." This strong negative recommendation should be a key consideration for local users searching for "camping near me," particularly those camping with families or pets.
Regarding promotional information, the provided text does not include any details about discounts, special offers, or positive aspects that the campground might promote. The absence of such information, coupled with the single but strongly negative review, suggests that potential visitors should exercise caution and seek additional information or recent reviews from other sources before making a reservation at Wedge Hill Group Camp. It is possible that the experience of one visitor does not represent the entirety of what the campground offers, but this feedback is nonetheless valuable for forming an initial impression.
Given the limited information and the negative review, local users considering Wedge Hill Group Camp for their "camping near me" needs should take the following steps to gather more information and make an informed decision:
- Search for additional reviews: Look for other online reviews of Wedge Hill Group Camp on various platforms (e.g., Google Maps, camping directories, social media). A single review might not tell the whole story, and additional feedback could provide a more balanced perspective.
- Contact the campground directly (if a phone number is available through other sources): Inquire about the campsite layout, privacy between sites, restroom facilities, quiet time policies, and any other concerns raised by the existing review.
- Check official parks and recreation websites for Washington County, MN: Wedge Hill Group Camp might be part of a larger county park system, and the official website could provide more information about the campground's amenities, rules, and reservation procedures.
- Use online map services to view the campground's layout: Satellite or aerial views on platforms like Google Maps might offer some insight into the spacing of campsites and the overall size of the campground.
- Consider alternative campgrounds in the Scandia or Washington County area: Explore other options for "camping near me" to compare amenities, reviews, and overall suitability for your camping needs.
In conclusion, while Wedge Hill Group Camp in Scandia, MN, might be an option for group camping in the area, the available user review raises significant concerns regarding campsite privacy, the cleanliness of facilities, the strict enforcement of quiet times, and the overall management approach. Local users searching for "camping near me" are strongly advised to seek additional information and consider these potential drawbacks before making a reservation. The lack of positive feedback or promotional information in the provided text further underscores the need for thorough research to ensure a satisfactory camping experience.

Wedge Hill Group Camp Reviews
Terrible Campsite. Outhouse was gross and had no garbage. Sites were super close together with barely any privacy between campsites. It was pretty small with not space to spread out and do anything unless you want to be right next to the people at the next site. Claimed we made noise violations by going to our car after the "strict" quiet times at the park. We had never had any complaints at any other campsites we have ever been to but because we didn't go to bed directly at 10 o'clock we were kicked out of the park the next morning and given barely any time to pack up and leave. So I definitely would not recommend coming, especially if you have kids or dogs that could give you a "noise complaint." Please don't come here.
