Whiskey Hill Barn Introduce
Whiskey Hill Barn, located at 266 Whiskey Hill Rd, La Selva Beach, CA 95076, USA, offers a distinctive and unconventional camping experience that sets it apart from typical entries found when searching for "Camping Near Me." This venue is not just a campground; it's an integral part of an active organic farm, providing a unique blend of rustic charm, community gathering, and farm-to-table culinary delights. While the provided information doesn't include a phone number for Whiskey Hill Barn directly, it's a place that seems to thrive on its unique atmosphere and offerings.
The concept of "The Barn" vibe is strongly emphasized, suggesting a lively and social environment, especially during events. This property also appears to be associated with Whiskey Hill Farms, a world-famous organic permaculture farm, which enriches the camping experience with an agricultural backdrop and the potential for fresh, organic produce.
The environment at Whiskey Hill Barn is characterized by its "beautiful scenery" and connection to a working farm. Guests can expect a natural setting, potentially overlooking redwood groves, pines, and surrounding farmlands. The unique aspect of being on an organic farm implies an emphasis on natural beauty and sustainable practices. However, potential campers should be aware, as one reviewer noted, that being on a working farm might mean encountering "animal droppings" on the ground, adding to the authentic, rustic farm experience.
Camping options at Whiskey Hill Barn include both tent and RV camping. It's crucial to note that while RV camping is available, there are explicitly "NO RV hookups in the park," meaning RVers will need to be self-sufficient regarding power, water, and sewer. Despite this, the campground offers essential amenities to ensure a comfortable stay:
- Showers: Outdoor showers are available, often praised for being hot and functional, even those that are propane-heated.
- Toilets: Flushing toilets are provided, and some reviews specifically highlight the cleanliness of the porta-potties, indicating a commitment to hygiene.
- Fire Pits: Guests can enjoy campfires in designated fire pits. However, ground fires are not allowed, and campers may need to provide their own fire ring in some areas. Wood and charcoal fires are generally not permitted; propane stoves and fire pits are the allowed alternatives for cooking and warmth, especially during fire season. Firewood can often be purchased on-site.
- No Designated Sites: The lack of designated sites suggests a more open, free-form camping style, where campers might choose their spot within the available areas. This can be appealing to those who prefer a less structured camping experience.
- WiFi: Wireless internet access is provided, with reviews indicating that Wi-Fi can reach even the more remote creek sites, making it suitable for remote work or staying connected.
- Pet-Friendly: The campground welcomes pets, with one reviewer noting a friendly black lab on the property. Guests are expected to keep dogs on a leash or confined and clean up after them.
The property is also described as being great for bird-watching and offers the opportunity for s'mores roasting, which are classic camping activities. The air quality is noted as amazing, a blend of "salt sea and redwood forest," providing a refreshing atmosphere.
Beyond basic camping, Whiskey Hill Barn appears to be a versatile venue, capable of hosting events and providing unique culinary experiences. The mention of "awesome hosts" and "great service" from reviewers suggests a welcoming and attentive management style. The highlight of the food offerings is the "nightly charcuterie board," indicating a focus on quality, locally-sourced provisions that align with the farm environment. This farm-to-table approach is a significant draw, providing a gourmet touch to the camping experience.
The presence of "The Barn" suggests it might function as a central gathering space or an event venue. Indeed, information about Whiskey Hill Farms indicates facilities such as a multipurpose event facility with a kitchen, restrooms, and offices, along with substantial outdoor property, which can accommodate various events, including parties and gatherings. This makes Whiskey Hill Barn a compelling option not just for campers, but also for those looking for a unique event space in the La Selva Beach area.
The hosts are praised for their hospitality, often providing guests with fresh fruits and vegetables from the organic farm. This adds a personalized and authentic touch to the stay, offering a true taste of the farm's produce. The property is described as having "comfortable accommodations," even for those opting for a more rustic camping experience.
For accessibility, the campground is said to have clean and accessible bathroom and toilet facilities. While specific details on ADA compliance for camping sites are not readily available in the provided reviews, the general amenities are noted as being well-maintained.
The core appeal of Whiskey Hill Barn lies in its unique blend of a working organic farm, a relaxed camping atmosphere, and a venue for social gatherings and culinary experiences. The enthusiastic reviews highlight key promotional points:
- "The Barn" Vibe: This implies a lively, social, and potentially communal atmosphere, especially during events. It's a place to "hang out with friends and family."
- Beautiful Scenery: The natural surroundings, including the organic farm and proximity to coastal and redwood areas, are a significant draw.
- Farm-to-Table Experience: The "nightly charcuterie board" and complimentary farm produce elevate the dining experience beyond typical campground fare.
- Awesome Hosts: The positive interactions with staff or owners contribute significantly to the overall welcoming feeling.
- Unique Location: Being just minutes from Manresa and Sunset State beaches, and within reach of Forest of Nisene Marks State Park for hiking and biking, makes it an attractive base for exploring the Monterey Bay coast. It's also noted to be 10 minutes from the beach, 5 minutes from Pinto Lake, 25 minutes from the Santa Cruz Boardwalk, and 40 minutes from Monterey.
- Relaxing and Refreshing: The combination of nature and comfort is promoted as an ideal way to unwind.
While one review mentioned it being "crowded" on opening night and the issue with animal droppings, these points seem to be balanced by the overwhelmingly positive feedback regarding the atmosphere, service, and unique offerings. The fact that guests are "looking forward to visiting again" speaks volumes about the overall satisfaction.
For those looking for "Camping Near Me" that offers more than just a place to sleep—perhaps a retreat that combines nature with community, unique dining, and the charm of a working farm—Whiskey Hill Barn provides an intriguing option in La Selva Beach, CA. Its focus on hospitality and a distinctive "barn" aesthetic makes it a memorable destination for both campers and event organizers.

Whiskey Hill Barn Reviews
Went here opening night, crowded but definitely has “The Barn” vibe going. That being said we had a lovely time if you count your shoes being covered in animal droppings the whole night... but the service and food is definitely worth going back! They even have a nightly charcuterie board!
