The Environment of Wilderness Presidential Resort and Spotsylvania Courthouse, VA
Wilderness Presidential Resort is situated in Spotsylvania Courthouse, Virginia, a region rich in history and natural beauty, located between Washington D.C. and Richmond. The resort spans a significant 600 acres of rural space, nestled on the banks of a couple of lakes and featuring mature woodlands. This environment suggests a blend of natural scenery and recreational opportunities. The presence of lakes indicates potential for water-based activities and scenic waterfront views. The mature woodland likely provides shade and a sense of being immersed in nature. The resort's location, while offering a secluded atmosphere, is also reportedly easily accessible from the main road, about a 10-minute drive from the town of Wilderness, making it a convenient "camping near me" option for locals seeking a quick escape into nature without being too far from civilization.

These cabins come equipped with towels and linens, a stocked kitchen with dishes, and convenient amenities such as rocking chairs, a gas grill, and a washer and dryer. Some cabins also feature luxurious touches like a jetted tub in the upstairs bathroom.
- RV Spots: The resort provides RV camping sites. However, one reviewer noted that many of these sites were occupied by long-term residents, which might give the area a "trailer park feel" rather than a traditional RV park atmosphere geared towards short-term stays.
- Pools: The resort boasts three swimming pools, including an indoor pool that can be used year-round. It's important to note that pool noodles at the indoor pool are reportedly reserved for water aerobics, and guests need to bring their own towels for the pool area as they are not provided there.

Objective Considerations and Potential Drawbacks for Local Campers
While Wilderness Presidential Resort offers numerous positives, local users should also consider a few potential drawbacks highlighted in the reviews:
- RV Park Atmosphere: For RVers seeking a traditional short-term experience, the prevalence of long-term residents might alter the expected vibe of the RV area.
- Pool Towel Policy: Remember to bring your own towels for the pool, as they are not provided in that area.
- Pool Noodle Restriction: The indoor pool noodles are strictly for water aerobics, which might be a minor inconvenience for recreational swimmers.
- Serious Concerns Regarding Ownership Purchases: One review strongly advises against purchasing any ownership with the resort, citing negative long-term experiences, difficulties in exiting ownership agreements, and issues with customer service and billing. This is a significant point that local users considering any form of long-term commitment should take very seriously and investigate thoroughly. The reviewer's mention of no email contact and a non-working phone number for issue resolution is particularly concerning.
Local users primarily interested in short-term cabin rentals or utilizing the resort's amenities might not be directly affected by the concerns raised about RV long-term stays or ownership issues. However, the strong warning against ownership is a critical piece of feedback that potential buyers should heed.
Lack of Explicit Promotional Information
The provided information does not contain any specific promotional details such as discounts, seasonal offers, or packages. Wilderness Presidential Resort Reviews
We stayed in a cabin, which was clean and well-maintained. Towels and linens were provided, and the kitchen was stocked with dishes. The cabin area was neat and included nice amenities like rocking chairs, gas grill and washer and dryer. Our cabin also had a jetted tub in the upstairs bathroom, which was a nice touch. The resort offers a variety of amenities, including three pools, disc golf, mini golf, and a gym with activities. We used the indoor pool, but be aware that the pool noodles are reserved strictly for water aerobics. Bring your own towel for pool. Towels are not provided at the pool area. Every staff member we interacted with was friendly and helpful. The main reason for our visit was to check out the RV spots for a potential summer trip. However, we found that many of the sites were occupied by long-term residents, giving more of a trailer park feel rather than a traditional RV park atmosphere. This wasn’t the vibe we were looking for.Overall, the resort has great amenities and well-kept cabin areas, but the RV section may not be ideal for those seeking a more polished, short-term stay experience. We had fun for our 3 day visit with a 15 year old. The internet /wifi was also good.
Mar 08, 2025 · Bobbie MatthewsDO NOT PURCHASE ANY OWNERSHIP WITH THEM!My mother purchased with them 30 years ago, which she shouldn't have- it's not a nice facility. She has tried and tried again over the years to get out of it and they tell her she can't. She is now 75 years old and not in a healthy position to go to a campground and not only is there no email address to contact, and their phone number doesn't work to get in touch with anyone. Now they are sending her to collections- This is elderly abuse. DO NOT Support this facility.
Apr 17, 2025 · W BThe 3 bedroom cabin was great. Quiet, near battle fields and historical venues. We visited Madison and Jefferson's plantations. Both were in an hours drive of resort
Apr 03, 2025 · Kathy TidwellMy family had the BEST time here! The cabins were very clean and well maintained. The pool was perfect, the canoeing was perfect, and the obstacle course with rope swings and different things to climb was top notch. The staff was so incredibly friendly and helpful with whatever we needed. The location is perfect with all the stores you need for anything within 20 minutes. I highly recommend. My family thoroughly enjoyed every bit of nature while here, on top of all the fun they provide.
Jul 17, 2024 · Tom WeirThe park was a great deal of fun. Plenty to do and it was clean and very well kept. Only problem we had was the noise at times. People setting off firecrackers at night, loud music and voices well past “quiet hours.”
