Wildwood Acres Campground Introduce
For local residents seeking a campground with a wide array of amenities and a welcoming atmosphere within the 'camping near me' category, Wildwood Acres Campground near Verdigre, Nebraska, offers a compelling option for individuals, families, and groups alike. Located in Verdigre, NE 68783, USA, this campground boasts a diverse range of facilities and a convenient location near the town of Verdigre, as highlighted by enthusiastic customer reviews.
The environment of Wildwood Acres Campground is characterized by the presence of mature oak trees that provide ample shade for the campsites. One reviewer noted the potential hazard of "larger dead and broken branches" hanging in the trees, suggesting that visitors should be aware of their surroundings. A significant natural feature is Verdigre Creek, which "runs through the campsites," offering the soothing sounds of flowing water and potentially opportunities for wading or exploring along its banks. While one review mentions a "lazy little creek" that "meanders around the outskirts of the campgrounds," both descriptions indicate water access within or near the camping areas.
In terms of services and features, Wildwood Acres Campground is exceptionally well-equipped. According to customer reviews, the campground includes at least two cabins available for rent, offering a more sheltered accommodation option. There are approximately 20 campsites with electric hookups, catering to RVs and campers who require power. The campground also provides two playgrounds for children, ensuring ample space for kids to play and burn energy. For gatherings and events, there are two pavilions, both equipped with electricity, making them suitable for family reunions, outdoor wedding receptions, or other group activities. A swimming pool is a significant amenity for summer stays, although one reviewer noted it was closed during a February visit due to cold weather, indicating seasonal operation.
Sports enthusiasts will appreciate the presence of a baseball diamond and tennis/basketball courts, offering opportunities for recreational games. Additionally, there is a horseshoe/cornhole pitch for casual outdoor fun, and a disc golf course for those who enjoy this increasingly popular activity. Walking trails are also available, although one reviewer did not utilize them during their visit but noted their presence. The campground provides a communal water spigot for obtaining water and garbage buckets for nearly all campsites, enhancing convenience for campers.
While the amenities are extensive, one reviewer pointed out that the "8 foot pads" on some campsites might be "a little bit too small" for larger camping units, making maneuvering and turning around challenging. However, they also noted that "a handful of larger pads" are available. This suggests that while the majority of sites might be better suited for smaller RVs or tents, some accommodations exist for larger rigs, but early booking might be necessary to secure these larger spots.
Basic restroom facilities are available in a men's and women's toilet building, although one reviewer noted it was locked during their stay and inquired about the type of toilets (flush or pit). This suggests that the availability and operational status of the restrooms should be confirmed when making a reservation. The campground offers 30 amp electric service at the hookup sites. While a communal water spigot is available, individual water hookups at each site are not mentioned. Similarly, the presence of a dump site for RV waste is uncertain, with one reviewer noting they didn't see one but might have missed it.
Promotional aspects of Wildwood Acres Campground are evident in its extensive list of amenities, making it a versatile destination for various types of campers and events. The proximity to the town of Verdigre, just a five-minute drive away, offers convenient access to essential services such as a grocery store, hardware store, car repair shop, bar, library, and bank. A slightly longer ten-minute drive provides access to a convenience store, gas station, and several churches (Lutheran, Catholic, and Methodist). This accessibility to town amenities enhances the convenience of a longer stay.
The positive feedback regarding the friendliness and helpfulness of the local townspeople ("Everybody in town was super friendly and very helpful!") adds to the appeal of the location, suggesting a welcoming community that can enhance the overall visitor experience. The campground itself is described as a "great place for family reunions, outdoor wedding receptions, or just enjoying a week outside," directly promoting its suitability for group events and extended stays.
For local users searching the 'camping near me' category, Wildwood Acres Campground offers a wide range of amenities suitable for diverse camping preferences, from tent camping on affordable $10 per night sites to cabin rentals at $35 per night and RV camping on $15 per night electric sites. The presence of playgrounds, a swimming pool, sports courts, and a disc golf course makes it particularly attractive for families and those seeking active recreation. The availability of pavilions with electricity caters to group gatherings and events. The access to Verdigre Creek adds a natural element to the camping experience.
Potential visitors should inquire about the operational status of the swimming pool and restroom facilities, especially during off-peak seasons. RV owners with larger rigs should confirm the availability of suitable campsites and the ease of maneuvering within the campground. While a communal water spigot is available, those requiring more direct water access might need to plan accordingly. The presence and location of a dump site for RVs should also be verified if needed.
In conclusion, Wildwood Acres Campground near Verdigre, NE, presents a local camping destination with an impressive array of amenities, including cabins, electric campsites, playgrounds, a swimming pool, sports facilities, a disc golf course, and access to Verdigre Creek. Its proximity to the town of Verdigre provides convenient access to services. Wildwood Acres Campground Reviews
Great place! I stayed the last week of Feb. Water was off in the wash room and pool was closed due to cold weather. Looking around, I saw the following: two cabins, maybe 20 sites with electric, two playgrounds, two pavilions, swimming pool, baseball diamond, tennis/basketball courts, horseshoe/cornhole pitch, disc golf course, and Verdigre Creek runs through the campsites. A five minute drive into Verdigre gets you a grocery, hardware, car repair, bar, library, bank, etc. Ten minutes drive gets you to the convenience store and gas, or Lutheran, Catholic, or Methodist, churches. This would be a great place for family reunions, outdoor wedding receptions, or just enjoying a week outside. Everybody in town was super friendly and very helpful!
Mar 01, 2024 · J.R. BluettI would have given this nice little campground a 5-star rating, but I felt the 8 foot pads were a little bit too small. To be fair, they have placed a handful of larger pads throughout, but it would be insanely cramped for larger units to maneuver and even turn their rigs around. $15.00 per night for campers. $10.00 a night for tents. Cabins ran $35.00 a night. They did have a men's and women's toilet building (flush or hole?) the building was locked and we couldn't use it. They have 30 amp electric, 1 location to obtain water (communal water spigot), 1 picnic table per site, garbage buckets provided for nearly all sites. Oak trees provide shade from the sun. One has to look up though, we saw several locations where larger dead and broken branches were just hanging on by a thread. They have 2 cabins that are available. The entire campground is an easy stones throw from the city swimming pool. There are 2 large picnic pavillions, electricity is provided. Walking trails are available (we did not walk on them this trip). There is a lazy little creek that meanders around the outskirts of the campgrounds. Playground equipment in 3 locations for the kids. Large fields for other playing around. We didn't need a dump site, and I'm sorry, I didn't think to look to see if they had one. They may have one, and I think I would have noticed it if they had, but take this with a grain of salt. Town is just down the road a half mile or so, and most needs can be met there.
Mar 07, 2022 · Bibs OutdoorsBeautiful small town campground. Sites under oak trees swimming pool and restrooms were shut down due to covid so it goes. FYI keep your gear locked up. Ours was stolen guess someone needed it more than we did. Hope they enjoy the grill with a serious gas leak!!
