Americamps RV Resort Introduce
If you're searching for "RV parks near me" in the Ashland, Virginia area, Americamps RV Resort, located at 11322 Air Park Rd, Ashland, VA 23005, presents itself as a potential destination for your camping needs. While billing itself as a "Resort," customer reviews offer a balanced perspective on the facilities and overall experience, highlighting both its positive aspects and areas where expectations might need adjustment.
One reviewer expressed a sense of unmet expectations, suggesting that the "Resort" designation might imply a higher standard than what was experienced. Specifically mentioned were the gravel roads and the condition of the hookups and picnic tables, which were described as having "seen better days." This indicates that while functional, some of the basic infrastructure might show signs of wear and tear. For RVers prioritizing pristine and modern facilities, this is a point to consider when evaluating Americamps RV Resort.
A significant concern raised by this reviewer initially revolved around the WiFi service. Upon check-in, they were informed that the WiFi would not support streaming services like Netflix, which they considered a "deal breaker" and a misrepresentation of facilities on the resort's website. Given the nightly rate of $80, the expectation of decent WiFi for streaming is deemed reasonable by this customer. However, a subsequent discovery revealed that the actual download speeds of 15 Mbps did, in fact, support streaming. This discrepancy highlights the importance of verifying specific technical capabilities, especially for travelers who rely on reliable internet access for entertainment or work.
On a more positive note, the availability of hard-wired cable service was mentioned as an alternative for those who still utilize this option for television viewing. This provides an additional entertainment avenue for guests who might find the WiFi capabilities uncertain or prefer a more traditional setup.
Another reviewer offered a more favorable overall assessment, describing Americamps RV Resort as a "great little RV resort." They praised the resort's general upkeep, noting that it is "well maintained and clean." This positive feedback on the cleanliness and maintenance of the grounds and facilities suggests a commitment to providing a pleasant environment for guests. The office/store was also highlighted as being clean and well-stocked, offering convenience for campers needing supplies or sundries.
However, this reviewer also pointed out a potential drawback regarding the proximity of campsites. They noted that in some of the smaller sites, a camper's door might open up directly to a neighbor's sewer pipe. This close proximity between sites could impact privacy and the overall sense of space, particularly for those accustomed to more spread-out camping arrangements. It's advisable to inquire about site sizes and layouts when making reservations to ensure a comfortable level of personal space.
On the positive side, the majority of the campsites were reported to be "pretty level," which is a significant advantage for RVers as it minimizes the need for extensive leveling adjustments upon arrival. This contributes to a smoother and more convenient setup process.
A notable feature of Americamps RV Resort is its community-oriented approach. The resort offers a waffle breakfast on Saturday and Sunday, providing an opportunity for guests to socialize. Additionally, they organize various activities planned around different holidays, fostering a sense of community and engagement for those interested in participating. For Labor Day, specific activities mentioned included bingo, a movie night, and a concert, all scheduled to conclude by the 10 pm quiet time, indicating a consideration for guests' peace and rest.
Despite the generally positive experience, this second reviewer also mentioned a disappointment regarding pricing transparency. They were not informed about a different, presumably higher, nightly rate for the holiday period when making reservations. This unexpected additional expense impacted their budget, requiring adjustments in other areas. This highlights the importance of confirming the total cost, including any potential holiday or peak season surcharges, at the time of booking to avoid any unforeseen financial discrepancies.
Considering the category of “RV parks near me,” Americamps RV Resort in Ashland, VA, offers a blend of positive attributes such as cleanliness, planned activities, and a convenient store, alongside areas where expectations should be managed, including potentially close campsite proximity and the need to verify WiFi capabilities and holiday pricing. For RV travelers looking for a well-maintained park with some social activities and essential amenities, Americamps could be a viable option. However, those prioritizing spacious sites and guaranteed high-speed streaming WiFi might need to inquire further about specific site characteristics and internet reliability.
Prospective guests are encouraged to contact Americamps RV Resort directly at (804) 798-5298 or +1 804-798-5298 to inquire about site availability, specific amenities, WiFi capabilities for individual sites, and any seasonal or holiday rates. Asking about the layout of the park and the proximity of neighboring sites might also be beneficial in selecting a site that meets your preferences. While no specific promotional information was available in the reviews, it is always worth inquiring about any current specials or discounts for extended stays or first-time visitors. By gathering detailed information directly from the resort, you can make an informed decision about whether Americamps RV Resort aligns with your needs and expectations for your next RV adventure in Ashland, Virginia.

Americamps RV Resort Reviews
Expect more from a campground that calls itself a “Resort”.Roads are gravel, hookups and picnic tables have seen better days. But the last straw was being told on checkin that the WiFi would not support streaming services (Netflix etc). To me that is a deal breaker and they are misrepresenting the facilities in their website. And at $80 per night I think it’s reasonable to expect decent WiFi.That said, however, come to find out that the 15mps download speeds WILL support streaming. Go figure. So beware if you will need it.I would add that there is hard wired cable service if anyone still uses that.
May 08, 2025 · Paul WilkinsonThis is a great little RV resort. The resort itself is well maintained and clean. I was a little disappointed in how close you are to your neighbors. In some of the smaller sites, your door opens up to your neighbors sewer pipe. The sites are, for the most part, pretty level. We did not have to use leveling blocks. The office/store is clean and well stocked. They even have a waffle breakfast for those who want to socialize on Saturday and Sunday. They have different activities planned for those who want to be part of it for several different holidays. For Labor Day, they had bingo, a movie night, and a concert scheduled. All will be done by quiet time at 10p.We have enjoyed our stay. The only other thing I was disappointed about was that when we made reservations, we were not told there was a different price per night for the holiday rate. My budget was off due to that expense, and we had to make it up in another area.
Sep 01, 2024 · Lori CrouchWe spent 5 nights here as part of a longer journey. The staff was pleasant and the park was well-maintained. I'd characterize the park as a little tight in terms of site spacing along with some of the interior roads requiring your full attention to turns. The park's map denotes satellite-friendly sites, and those are in rows B&C. I didn't put up my DISH Network dish, but the site had a clear view of the SW sky. On the other hand, Starlink looks to about 51º (~NE) in this part of the country and in this park that's tough one because of the tall trees. Our Starlink was partially obstructed, but it worked surprisingly well. Our site had a large tree at the front right, making departure tricky. We managed, but I'd likely avoid site B07 if we visit again. There was traffic noise from I-95, and from Air Park Rd which can be busy with large trucks. Shopping & fuel were convenient, and Richmond is 20-ish minutes away & much longer when traffic is heavy. I feel our nightly rate of $82 is on the high side all things considered.
Nov 01, 2024 · Dick TerpstraWell maintained park. Great location for seeing Richmond and surrounding areas. However, we were unable to get satellite at our first site, which we requested. Extended a week, relocated to a site we were able to get satellite in. Convenient to the highway, which does come with road noise. We would definitely stay again.
Sep 19, 2024 · Lisa EllermanThis place is way more than I expected for a pull off-pull back on the highway campground. We literally left an RV “resort” in Myrtle Beach and stayed here on our way back up north, and this place has way nicer facilities and better maintained sites than the so called “resort” we stayed at in MB.The sites are level, clean and the hookups (full hookup, we used 50Amp service)are very well maintained.Whoever is managing this place is doing a fantastic job. It was so nice pulling into such a great place, especially after being on the road all day long.I wish we would’ve allotted more time to stay here!We will be back.Ps. Mario’s pizza delivers and it’s pretty good!
