Atlanta South RV Resort Introduce
When your search for "RV parks near me" leads you south of Atlanta, consider the Atlanta South RV Resort, located at 281 Mt Olive Rd, McDonough, GA 30253, USA. This RV park appears to be a welcoming and improving destination for RV travelers, offering a combination of friendly service, convenient location, and a developing array of amenities. Based on recent customer reviews, Atlanta South RV Resort emphasizes hospitality and strives to create a comfortable environment for both short-term and potentially long-term stays.
One of the most consistently praised aspects of Atlanta South RV Resort is its staff. Reviewers describe them as "very friendly" and "so nice and so welcoming." This emphasis on hospitality can significantly enhance the travel experience, especially for those who are tired from being on the road. The personal touch seems to extend beyond the office, with mentions of a "gentleman on the golf cart" who escorts guests to their sites and even goes the extra mile to provide a warm welcome. This level of personalized service suggests a management team that genuinely cares about the comfort and satisfaction of their guests.
The convenience of Atlanta South RV Resort's location is another significant advantage. Situated right off Interstate 85, it offers easy access for travelers passing through the Atlanta area. This accessibility is particularly valuable for overnight stays or for those who appreciate the ease of getting back on the road quickly. The convenience factor is highlighted by a reviewer who stated, "For me the most important part of an RV park is convenience and kindness because you’re already stressed from being on the road and tired. And you will find the kindness here and the convenience."
For pet owners searching for "RV parks near me" that welcome their furry companions, Atlanta South RV Resort is described as "pet friendly." This is a crucial factor for many RV travelers, and the positive mention suggests that pets are not just tolerated but welcomed at the resort. Additionally, there's a mention of a "Dogs on 6 foot lease great idea" policy, indicating that while pets are welcome, there are reasonable rules in place to ensure the safety and comfort of all guests. This policy reflects a responsible approach to pet management within the community.
Addressing a concern raised by some about site sizes, one reviewer with experience driving a semi-truck for 17 years confidently states, "...there is NO room for big RVs I drove a semi for 17 years and I could get in any spot they place the biggest of RVs." This firsthand experience suggests that Atlanta South RV Resort can indeed accommodate large RVs, which is an important consideration for owners of larger rigs when searching for suitable "RV parks near me." The reviewer also mentions having "room on both sides" of their trailer, along with space for a campfire ring, grill, picnic table, storage containers, lawn chairs, and a generator, indicating reasonably sized and well-laid-out sites.
While one review mentions the laundry room being "small," it is also noted as having the "cheapest of any where else," suggesting a trade-off between size and cost-effectiveness. This could be a significant benefit for travelers needing to do laundry on a budget. The fact that the resort has a laundry facility at all adds to the convenience for longer-term guests.
The sense of community at Atlanta South RV Resort also appears to be a positive aspect. One reviewer noted that "every one has been very friendly and helpful," including fellow campers and groundskeepers. This friendly atmosphere can contribute significantly to a pleasant and welcoming experience, fostering a sense of belonging for both short-term and long-term residents.
The management's commitment to improvement is also noteworthy, with a reviewer stating, "They are improving this place more every day." This suggests that the resort is actively working to enhance its facilities and the overall guest experience, which is a promising sign for future visitors. These ongoing improvements could lead to even better amenities and a more enjoyable stay over time.
A particularly heartwarming aspect highlighted in one review is the special welcome extended to children. A family passing through mentioned a "huge welcome bag" filled with thoughtful items for their daughter, including soap, a toothbrush, a toy, and a stuffed animal. This kind gesture demonstrates a high level of care and attention to detail, making families feel particularly valued and welcome. Such thoughtful touches can leave a lasting positive impression.
While the reviews are overwhelmingly positive, it's important to note that they are based on individual experiences. One reviewer's comment about campgrounds generally having "close quarters" suggests that while their site was adequate, some sites might be closer together than others, which is a common characteristic of many RV parks. However, the positive feedback regarding the spaciousness of at least some sites and the overall manageability for large RVs provides a balanced perspective.

In conclusion, Atlanta South RV Resort appears to be a highly recommended option for those searching for "RV parks near me" south of Atlanta. Atlanta South RV Resort Reviews
Great place to stay… They are improving this place more every day.. As far as woman posting there is NO room for big RVs I drove a semi for 17 years and I could get in any spot they place the biggest of RVs.. The staff is very friendly and pet friendly.. I wanted a shaded spot and they allowed me to move. Laundry room is small but the cheapest of any where else.. As far as people every one has been very friendly and helpful to me. Even the grounds keepers.. As far as parked like Sardines name a campground that don’t have close quarters. I have room on both sides of my Trailer and a place for campfire ring, grill, picnic table, storage containers, lawn chairs and Generator. As far as Dogs on 6 foot lease great idea. I’m handicapped and if you have a big dog it needs to be within your control at all times 16’ is not under your control..They are just protecting everyone.. I never have had a money issue with them either. People change their minds all the time.. I Love this place.. .
May 02, 2025 · Julia SpencerWe only stayed one night passing through however, the people are so nice and so welcoming the gentleman on the golf cart that brings you to your site. He came back later to bring our Daughter this huge welcome bag that had everything in it from soap to a toothbrush, a toy, a little stuffed animal The list goes on and on it made her feel so special. Also offered to take my husband back to his car that we had to leave in the front because we were only staying for one night so we just got a small spot. The gentleman in the office was nice. The neighbors were nice. I don’t know what it would be like to stay here for a while, but it looks like a lot of people do. It is right off interstate 85 which was so convenient. For me the most important part of an RV park is convenience and kindness because you’re already stressed from being on the road and tired. And you will find the kindness here and the convenience. It’s right off of 85 we thank you so much for you to our daughter and accommodating us. If we ever come back through Atlanta, this is where we will stay.
Mar 02, 2025 · Cindy WashingtonLook elsewhere to stay!! Not big rig friendly. Big motorcoaches beware! This campground has many issues. In the front it’s all gravel and dirt sites, and they pack them in like sardines. In the “S” section in back, the sites are big enough to not unhook, but once you pull in you can’t get out. Sharp turns, and we had to unhook to get around them. Wood poles everywhere, on sites and corners that are near misses when you approach them. Huge speed bumps that are falling apart. For all the rules and regulations this place has, you’d think it’d be really nice. We made the mistake of not reading all the reviews. Lesson learned. We will never stay here again. The people that own this campground didn’t build it with motorhomes in mind. They’re clueless about the space big rigs need to move around in a campground.Update to owner’s response: Firstly, their grammar is lacking. Second, they totally missed my entire point that it’s not big rig friendly. A large motorcoach CANNOT maneuver in this RV park. I already mentioned in my review the “S” sites are long, and fit big rigs, but there’s really no point if you can’t pull out easily. There are too many tight corners. There was no misunderstanding, we were told we could pull in and not unhook and pull out. There was no way possible to pull out and make the extremely tight turn. We had to unhook, back out, then hookup again. The misunderstanding is on their part. They have no clue how to handle large rigs.
May 03, 2025 · amy thompsonThe "S" section is really nice but the lower section is extremely crowded, and has poor roadways I had to move because my equipment was too big for the slot I booked. You would think they would make limits on small slot.. To top it off management is extremely disorganized!!! They have no idea who is coming and going... Just while we were there for a couple days we saw workers communicating with the office to see if campers are even paid up or not... I extended my stay one night and it sent them through a loop!! First they credited card I didn't even use then they took it back all while calling me three times saying I wasn't paid up??? When you were trying to travel and relax and in our case focused on travel sports, very annoying to have to keep clarifying my stay and communicate with them... I would not stay again just because of the disorganization!!! You have a dog. Forget it. You have to keep them on a 6-ft leash at all times even on your site... I've never Issues anywhere else as long as I had my dog secured within the bounds of my site...
Dec 21, 2024 · Shawn OttoNice resort in a great location. The guy checking people in is very friendly and helpful. I had booked the wrong night and he was very accommodating. They didn't charge me for the night that I had actually booked which was the previous day. Thanks!
