ATX Outpost Introduce
Welcome to ATX Outpost, located at 9201 US-290 in Austin, TX 78736. If you're searching for "RV parks near me" and are looking for a location that offers proximity to Austin's city center with what some describe as reasonable rates, ATX Outpost might be a park to consider. It appears to cater to both those needing extended stays for work and potentially other travelers seeking a base near Austin.
According to one long-term visitor who has stayed at ATX Outpost for five different extended periods over several years, the park offers a convenient location, being the closest they've found to Austin center with reasonable rates. This individual consistently experienced a warm welcome from the owner, Robert Blankenship, who is described as kind, flexible, and treating guests like old friends from their very first meeting. This personal touch and welcoming attitude from the owner are highlighted as a significant positive, especially for frequent travelers. The reviewer also noted the owner's willingness to accommodate extensions to their stay when work ran longer than expected, suggesting a degree of flexibility and care for the park's community of RVers.
However, it is crucial to consider all available feedback to gain a balanced understanding of ATX Outpost. Another recent review presents a significantly contrasting experience. This reviewer expressed concern from the outset regarding the park's payment policy, noting that only Zelle was accepted and credit cards were not. This individual described the physical environment as a "used car parking lot on a hot pavement with no shade," suggesting a lack of natural landscaping and potentially uncomfortable conditions, especially during warmer months. The reviewer also claimed that the provided pictures were misleading regarding the actual environment of the park.
Furthermore, this reviewer detailed a negative financial and service experience. They reported paying a $150 deposit and $850 for the first month's rent via Zelle, with the understanding that all utilities were included. However, they alleged having to clean up trash left by other tenants, mow the grass around their connection meter, and enduring a four-day water shut-off allegedly due to the owner not paying the water bill. Upon requesting their deposit back after a one-month stay, the reviewer claimed they were initially ignored and then given various excuses for the non-refund, including a purported increase in electricity costs. This paints a picture of significant dissatisfaction with the management and the overall living conditions experienced by this particular guest.
Considering these two contrasting reviews, it is evident that experiences at ATX Outpost can vary significantly. While one long-term guest repeatedly found the location convenient, the owner welcoming, and the rates reasonable, another recent guest reported significant issues with the park's environment, management practices, and financial transactions.
Potential visitors should carefully weigh these differing perspectives. The convenience of the location near Austin center and the potentially reasonable rates, as highlighted by the positive review, could be attractive factors for some. The owner's reported warmth and flexibility might also be appealing. However, the serious concerns raised in the negative review regarding the park's physical environment (lack of shade, described as a "used car parking lot"), payment methods (Zelle only), utility issues (water shut-off), and deposit refund practices should not be overlooked.
Given the limited information available beyond these two reviews, it is difficult to provide a comprehensive overview of all services and features offered at ATX Outpost. Typically, an RV park introduction would detail the types of hookups available (e.g., water, sewer, electricity amperage), the layout of the park, any on-site amenities such as restrooms, showers, laundry facilities, Wi-Fi access, pet policies, and recreational areas. This information is not readily available in the provided text.
Therefore, if you are considering ATX Outpost based on its proximity to Austin and potentially reasonable rates, it is strongly recommended that you conduct further due diligence. This could include contacting the park directly at the provided address, although a phone number is not listed. You might also consider looking for additional reviews on other platforms to gain a broader range of perspectives. It would be prudent to inquire specifically about the park's payment policies, utility provisions, site conditions (including shade), and deposit procedures before making a reservation.
In conclusion, ATX Outpost offers a location that some find convenient to Austin center and has been described by one long-term guest as having reasonable rates and a welcoming owner. However, a more recent review raises significant concerns about the park's environment, management, and financial practices. Potential visitors should carefully consider these contrasting experiences and seek further information to make an informed decision based on their individual needs and priorities when searching for "RV parks near me" in Austin, Texas.
Due to the conflicting nature of the available reviews and the lack of detailed information about the park's amenities and services, it is not possible to provide a fully comprehensive and definitively objective introduction that addresses all potential aspects of interest for local users. The decision to stay at ATX Outpost should be made after careful consideration of all available information and potentially a direct inquiry to the park.

ATX Outpost Reviews
We have stayed at ATX Outpost for five different extended stays over the years. We travel to Austin when I need to work onsite and it’s the closest park to Austin center with very reasonable rates that we have found. The owner, Robert Blankenship, has always welcomed us to his convenient park with warmth, kindness and flexibility. From our very first meeting, he treated us as if we were old friends! That’s huge to people who travel a lot. It’s a blessing to feel welcomed into a new place, especially by the owner. I’ve had to extend our stay several times when my job ran long and each time, he made sure to accommodate us. He genuinely seems to care about his ever changing community of RV’ers. Thank you Robert….we appreciate you!
Feb 04, 2024 · L LThe first sign of a problem is when a business can't accept credit cards and only accepts Zelle. This should have been my first hint, but I overlooked it. It's a used car parking lot on a hot pavement with no shade (pics are very misleading). I was asked to put a deposit of $150 and the first month rent of $850. I was told the $850 covered all utilities. I gladly did this through Zelle when I should have known better. I had to clean up the trash from the other tenants around my RV, mow the grass around the connection meter, and even put up with the water being shut off for 4 days due to an owner not paying the water bill. I stayed for a month. When I asked for my deposit back, I was ignored ... When Robert finally answered after giving us the run around, he made up every excuse in the book not to refund me, even stating well electricity had gone up!! Renters be warned this is a horrible place. 1st bad review I have ever had to post … just bad business!
Aug 30, 2022 · BrentATX Outpost is our newly found "home away from home" when we visit Austin. My husband and I travel there several times a year, in an R V, to visit family. We have stayed at other parks however they were not as convenient as ATX. Robert, the owner, was so friendly, welcoming and very accommodating. He was there to greet us when we arrived. ATX has all the amenities you need. The place is quaint, tucked back in a wooded area, but located near restaurants and shopping. ATX is great place for your destination camping needs! Thank you Robert.
May 10, 2024 · Lisa DascenzoIt's a fairly small park. There are 8 slots behind the fence and every one of those has lots of area to themselves. Lots of trees, nice shade. The majority of the RV slots are up front running the length of the parking lot. Sort of a tight fit. There are not restrooms, no washer and dryer on location but the price is a bit lower then parks with all the amenities. Lots of dog owners. All sizes. Some like to snarl at each other. But everyone respects each other and goes the opposite direction if paths cross when out walking. Really quiet at night. The people that stay there are a community family and look out for each other.
Sep 13, 2023 · Kari CollinsThe owner Robert Blankenship is a liar and thief. He’s consistently late on paying the water and electric bill so services are shut off periodically until he pays. On my last month I paid a full months rent but I only stayed just 2 days short of two weeks. He ignored my phone calls after he said he’d consult with his “business partner” about my refund, a partner that doesn’t exist. I had to track him down and see him in person to get a response about a refund. First he was mad I confronted him and started using profanity. After he calmed down, he shook my hand, looked me in the eye and promised to call me that day to get it all squared away. He didn’t. Then ignored me again the following day. Thank God I don’t need the money but if your looking for a shady park, unlevel parking spots, and an unresponsive and dishonest owner. This is the place for you! Steer clear. There are plenty of other great parks. I’ve stayed all around the country and never had such an unpleasant experience. Beware of this place. It’s ironic that he will talk about late fees when he doesn’t pay his bills on time….. total dishonesty and really a repugnant attitude
