Bayou Wilderness RV Campground Introduce
For local adventurers and families seeking premier "RV parks near me" in the Carencro, Louisiana area, Bayou Wilderness RV Campground, located at 600 N Wilderness Trail, Carencro, LA 70520, USA, presents a delightful and well-regarded option. This campground has garnered positive feedback for its spacious accommodations, friendly staff, and a range of amenities designed to create a memorable outdoor experience. Situated in a potentially serene environment and conveniently located just 15 minutes from Lafayette, Bayou Wilderness RV Campground offers a blend of natural beauty and accessibility for both short-term and long-term stays.
One glowing review highlights a stay in the "very spacious Pool House," an accommodation option that goes beyond traditional RV sites. This Pool House is described as clean and featuring a "wonderful sitting area with TV," a full kitchen, and a bathroom, along with a comfortable bed. This suggests that Bayou Wilderness RV Campground offers diverse lodging options, catering not only to RV travelers but also to those seeking cabin-like amenities. The reviewer's positive experience with the Pool House underscores the potential for a comfortable and convenient stay, especially for families or groups.
The same reviewer also commends the staff for being "so friendly and helpful," a recurring theme that often contributes significantly to a positive campground experience. The spacious RV campsites, where the reviewer's friends stayed, are noted for being "nicely spaced" and equipped with fire pits, a desirable feature for enjoying evenings outdoors. The availability of recreational activities such as pickleball, corn hole, and horseshoes adds to the appeal, providing opportunities for friendly competition and outdoor fun for guests of all ages.
The cleanliness of the pool, meticulously maintained by someone named Bud, is also highlighted, ensuring a pleasant and hygienic swimming experience. The campground's natural environment is showcased by a "beautiful pond with lots of birds and butterflies," offering a scenic area for leisurely walks and nature observation. A unique feature mentioned is a field with sheep and donkeys, including baby lambs, providing an engaging and potentially educational experience, especially for families with children. This connection with nature and the presence of animals sets Bayou Wilderness RV Campground apart from more basic RV parking facilities.
The exceptional hospitality of the owner and staff is reiterated, with a heartwarming anecdote about them bringing two long tables to the Pool House on a rainy day so that a group of friends could comfortably play indoor board games. This level of attentiveness and willingness to go the extra mile to ensure guests feel "at home" speaks volumes about the management's commitment to customer satisfaction. The presence of a laundry house is also mentioned as a significant convenience for longer stays, allowing guests to take care of their laundry needs on-site.
However, another review provides a contrasting perspective regarding specific RV sites. This reviewer describes the campground as "ok" with "gravel pull through sites." The pull-through sites are generally preferred by RVers as they offer easier access and departure. However, this reviewer cautions against tent camping or staying in the "far end near the pond" due to its proneness to flooding, noting that the area flooded 4 inches deep during their stay. This is a critical piece of information for potential guests, especially those planning to tent camp or requesting sites in that particular area. The reviewer also mentions that the campground has "few trees" and "little shade," which could be a consideration during the hot Louisiana summers. Finally, they felt the pricing was "high $$ for a campground," although this is subjective and depends on individual budgets and expectations relative to the amenities offered.
Combining these two reviews paints a more nuanced picture of Bayou Wilderness RV Campground. It appears to offer a range of positive aspects, including spacious accommodations (especially the Pool House), friendly and helpful staff, a variety of recreational activities, a clean pool, and a pleasant natural environment with a pond and farm animals. However, potential guests should be aware of the potential for flooding in the area near the pond and the limited shade on some sites. The pricing might also be a factor for some to consider.
For local users searching for "RV parks near me," Bayou Wilderness RV Campground offers several appealing features. The proximity to Lafayette (15 minutes away) provides convenient access to city amenities, attractions, and services while still offering a more rural and natural campground setting. The availability of both traditional RV sites and unique accommodations like the Pool House broadens its appeal. The on-site amenities such as the pool, fishing pond, playground (implied by the family-friendly atmosphere), and laundry facilities enhance the convenience and enjoyment of a stay. The friendly and helpful staff, as consistently mentioned, can significantly contribute to a positive and welcoming experience.
While specific promotional information is not provided in the reviews, local users are encouraged to contact Bayou Wilderness RV Campground directly at (337) 896-0598 or mobile phone +1 337-896-0598 to inquire about current rates, site availability, and any special offers or discounts that might be available, especially for local residents or longer stays. It would also be prudent to inquire about the specific locations of RV sites and any known issues with flooding or shade to ensure a comfortable and suitable choice for their needs. In conclusion, Bayou Wilderness RV Campground offers a compelling option for those seeking "RV parks near me" in the Carencro/Lafayette area, with a range of amenities and a reputation for friendly service, though potential guests should be mindful of the varying site conditions and pricing.

Bayou Wilderness RV Campground Reviews
MY Husband and I stayed at the very spacious Pool House. It was clean had a wonderful sitting area with TV. Full kitchen and bathroom. The bed was very comfortable. The staff is so friendly and helpful. The campsites which our friends stayed at were nicely spaced and had fire pits. We were able to play pickleball corn hole and horse shoes. The pool was meticulously cleaned by Bud. You can walk the campground and see a beautiful pond with lots of birds and butterflies. There is a field of sheep and donkeys. The sheep had baby lambs which was amazing to see. I do have to mention again that the owner and staff are so helpful and friendly. On a rainy day they brought us 2 long tables which we set up in the pool house we were staying so our friends and us could all play some inside board games. They all make you feel at home. I would highly recommend staying you won't be disappointed. One more thing they have a laundry house so you can clean all the clothes while your there was very convient.
Mar 17, 2025 · Karen MarekOk campground, gravel pull through sites. But don't tent or camp in the far end near the pond. This area is prone for flooding. Flooded 4" deep while we were there. Few trees, little shade. 15 minutes from Lafayette. Seemed high $$ for a campground.
May 06, 2025 · TPT BillsMy family and I stayed at Bayou Wilderness RV Campground from March 3 to April 3, 2024. Upon arrival, the staff was friendly and gave us information about the park and where are site was located. We were in site 34, a pull-through with full hookups, complete with a brick patio area and grassy spots that added a touch of nature to the setup. The sites are somewhat close together, but we were fortunate to have an end site which gave us a larger area right off our front door, plus a lovely view of the bayou pond—a real highlight! The campground offers plenty of amenities, including restrooms, a bathhouse with showers, a swimming pool, pool house, pavilion, playground, and a dog park, making it a versatile spot for families, pet owners, and travelers looking for some relaxation. The laundry facilities and on-site store were convenient, and we appreciated the fact that they accepted packages that were delivered to the office for pick up.One of our favorite aspects was the incredible wildlife. We saw an amazing array of moths and butterflies, adding color and life to our stay. The campground also has sheep, donkeys, and horses, which gave us a delightful sense of being close to nature. It’s a good place for anyone who loves wildlife and wants a peaceful experience with a mix of nature and comfort. One thing to note is the presence of a lot of ants around the campground, so be mindful of where you and your pets’ step. Additionally, during our stay, we experienced both a power and water outage due to weather conditions and unforeseen circumstances, so be prepared for occasional disruptions. If you are looking for a park in the Carencro area, this is a decent place to stay.
