Are you searching for "RV parks near me" in the Joplin, Missouri area? Big Shoal RV Country, located at 6821 Gateway Dr, Joplin, MO 64804, USA, offers RV sites and can be contacted at (417) 310-9400 or +1 417-310-9400 for inquiries.
Based on recent customer reviews, Big Shoal RV Country presents a somewhat mixed experience. It's important for those seeking "RV parks near me" to consider both the positive and negative feedback to determine if this park aligns with their specific needs, whether for a short overnight stay or a longer-term arrangement.
One reviewer expresses a strong negative opinion, particularly regarding the management and suitability for full-time living. They state, "I would not recommend this park for full-time living, wow it is still under current management! I found most staff to be rude and foul. The parking itself is a great place location wise I suppose, but dealing with current management is a joke. I can post text messages of the way. She talks to her tenants if someone would like." This review raises significant concerns about the professionalism and demeanor of the staff, especially for those considering an extended stay.
Another reviewer offers a more balanced perspective, suggesting that Big Shoal RV Country might be "a pretty decent place" for those wanting to live at an RV park. They highlight positive aspects such as a "Pretty location," "easy in and out" access, and "amazing concrete pads." These features can be attractive to RVers, providing a stable and convenient base. However, this reviewer also points out drawbacks for "passing thru rvs." They mention a "high" price, the presence of "run down trailers all around with the owners sitting around watching us pull up in our 42ft motorhome," and that "the grass was terribly in need of being cut when we arrived!" These observations suggest that the park might cater more towards long-term residents and may not prioritize the experience of short-term, transient visitors.
The second reviewer concludes that Big Shoal RV Country was "Not the most comforting place for a passerby to stay, and definitely not worth the $60 price tag!" They gave the park a 3-star rating primarily due to the ease of pulling in and the quality of the concrete pads, indicating that while some infrastructure elements are commendable, other aspects detract from the overall experience for short-term guests.
Considering these reviews, the environment of Big Shoal RV Country appears to be a mix of potentially pleasant surroundings ("Pretty location") but with some visual inconsistencies, such as the presence of rundown trailers and poorly maintained landscaping (uncut grass). The concrete pads are a notable positive feature, suggesting well-constructed parking areas for RVs.
In terms of services and features, the reviews provide limited specific details. The mention of "easy in and out" suggests convenient access to and from the park. The "great concrete pads" indicate a focus on the parking infrastructure. However, there is no information provided about typical RV park amenities such as restrooms, showers, laundry facilities, Wi-Fi, or recreational areas. The "great meeting space" mentioned in another review for a different park is absent here.
The stark contrast in the two reviews is crucial for anyone considering Big Shoal RV Country as one of the "RV parks near me." The negative feedback regarding management should be taken seriously, especially for those anticipating any interaction with park staff or considering a longer stay. The concerns about the park's suitability and value for transient RVers also warrant consideration for those planning a short visit.
For individuals specifically seeking "RV parks near me" for long-term living, Big Shoal RV Country might offer some appeal due to its location and concrete pads. However, the negative comments about management style and the visual aspects of the park (rundown trailers) should prompt thorough investigation and direct communication with the park to ascertain the current conditions and management practices.
Those looking for a short-term "RV park near me" might want to weigh the convenience of access and the quality of the parking pads against the reported high price, the unkempt appearance of the grounds, and the potentially unwelcoming atmosphere described by one reviewer. It might be prudent to explore other RV parks in the Joplin area that receive more consistently positive feedback from transient guests.
There is no promotional information provided in the reviews. Therefore, potential visitors would need to contact Big Shoal RV Country directly to inquire about current rates, amenities, policies, and any special offers that might be available.
In conclusion, Big Shoal RV Country in Joplin, Missouri, presents a complex picture based on the available customer reviews. While it boasts a potentially convenient location and good concrete parking pads, there are significant concerns raised about the management's professionalism and the park's suitability and value, particularly for short-term visitors. The presence of rundown trailers and unmaintained landscaping are also noted as drawbacks. For those seeking "RV parks near me," it is strongly recommended to contact Big Shoal RV Country directly to address the issues raised in the reviews and to assess whether the positive aspects outweigh the reported negatives for their specific needs. It would also be wise to compare Big Shoal RV Country with other RV parks in the Joplin area to ensure the best possible experience.

May 08, 2025 · Erica BrownIf you want to live at a rv park, it would be a pretty decent place. Pretty location, easy in and out, and amazing concrete pads, but it’s not the best place for passing thru rvs. The price was high, there were run down trailers all around with the owners sitting around watching us pull up in our 42ft motorhome, and the grass was terribly in need of being cut when we arrived! Not the most comforting place for a passerby to stay, and definitely not worth the $60 price tag! I gave it a 3 star simply because of the ease of pulling in and their great concrete pads.
Sep 03, 2024 · Mindy SnowI love it here at this park. It's nice quiet and the shower house is nice and clean and you can get a wheelchair in there if needed and the laundry room is nice and convenient. The manager Ladonna Weeks try's her best to get things done around here.
Dec 18, 2024 · Tina ThomasI lived there full time for 4 years while I went back to college, with my Doberman, two teenage sons, and their mother. Great walking path around a 10-acre pond and down to the creek. Only had to pull RV out once during flooding season. My boys played paintball in the woods all the time. We lived in #26 at the far back left corner.
