Carowinds Camp Wilderness RV Introduce
Welcome to Carowinds Camp Wilderness RV, your ideal camping destination if you're searching for "RV Parks Near Me" with convenient access to Carowinds amusement park and other Charlotte attractions. Located at 14401 Carowinds Blvd, Charlotte, NC 28273, USA, you can reach them at (704) 588-2600 or +1 704-588-2600 to book your stay. Based on recent customer reviews, Carowinds Camp Wilderness RV offers a mix of appealing features and some considerations for potential guests.
One of the frequently mentioned positives of Carowinds Camp Wilderness RV is the size of its spaces. Guests have described them as "nice, big spaces," which is a significant advantage for RVers who appreciate room to maneuver and set up their campsite comfortably. Additionally, the park boasts "great shade," suggesting a pleasant and cooler environment, especially during the warmer months. The presence of "paved roads" within the campground is also a notable benefit, contributing to easier navigation and a cleaner overall environment compared to gravel or dirt roads.
The proximity to Carowinds amusement park is a major draw for this RV park. Guests have highlighted the convenience of its location, especially since the park offers a "shuttle" service to Carowinds. This eliminates the hassle of driving and parking at the amusement park, allowing visitors to fully enjoy their time there. For those specifically planning a trip to Carowinds, staying at Camp Wilderness RV offers a seamless and convenient lodging solution.
In terms of on-site amenities, Carowinds Camp Wilderness RV provides basic necessities. There is a "small gift shop" where guests can likely purchase souvenirs or essential items. For laundry needs, the park offers "2 washers and driers on site." While the number of laundry facilities is limited, their availability is a plus for travelers who need to do laundry during their stay.
The noise level at the campground appears to be generally acceptable, with one reviewer noting it "was decently quiet." However, they also pointed out a potential source of noise: "other than the planes headed to and from the airport. Not noticed during the day, but noticeable in the evenings and early mornings." This suggests that while the park is relatively peaceful during the day, the proximity to the airport may result in aircraft noise during quieter times, which is something light sleepers might want to consider.
Overall, one reviewer concluded that Carowinds Camp Wilderness RV is a "nice place and we would def come back." This positive sentiment indicates that the park generally meets the expectations of its guests and offers a satisfactory experience, likely due to its spacious sites, shade, paved roads, and convenient shuttle service to Carowinds.
However, another reviewer who had stayed at the park previously, about nine years ago, offered a comparative perspective. They noted that the park is "much better than when we stayed about 9 years ago," specifically mentioning that it is "not packed with people that live there full time." This suggests an improvement in the park's atmosphere and potentially a greater availability of sites for short-term visitors compared to the past.
Despite these improvements, this reviewer pointed out a couple of drawbacks. They mentioned that "sites are mostly dirt" and that there is "No cable TV." The dirt sites might be a concern for some RVers, potentially leading to dust or mud depending on weather conditions. The lack of cable TV could be a minor inconvenience for those who enjoy this amenity while traveling.
A more significant issue raised by this reviewer was an infestation of "tiny ants" in their motorhome. They reported that "By day 2 they were all over. I spent hours cleaning and spraying to get rid of them." While this could be an isolated incident, it's a concern worth noting for potential guests, especially those traveling in warmer months when insects are more prevalent. The reviewer also expressed a desire for a "heads-up" about potential pest issues, suggesting that preemptive treatment might be advisable.
Based on these reviews, the environment, services, and features of Carowinds Camp Wilderness RV can be summarized as follows:
- Environment: The park offers "nice, big spaces" with "great shade" and "paved roads." While generally "decently quiet," it is located near the airport, which may result in noticeable airplane noise in the evenings and early mornings. The campsites are "mostly dirt."
- Services: The park provides a convenient "shuttle" service to Carowinds amusement park. On-site amenities include a "small gift shop" and "2 washers and driers." There is no mention of other typical RV park amenities such as restrooms, showers, Wi-Fi, or recreational facilities beyond the proximity to Carowinds. Cable TV is not available.
- Features: The primary feature is the park's location directly serving visitors to Carowinds. The large, shaded sites and paved roads offer a comfortable camping experience. The availability of a shuttle to the amusement park adds significant convenience. The park appears to have improved over the years, with fewer long-term residents.
- Promotional Information: While not explicitly promotional, the positive feedback regarding the spacious sites, shade, paved roads, and shuttle service to Carowinds can be seen as attractive features for potential guests, particularly those planning to visit the amusement park. The improvement noted by a returning guest after nine years also suggests a positive trend in the park's quality. However, the lack of cable TV and the dirt sites are aspects that might deter some visitors. The potential for airplane noise and the reported ant infestation are also important considerations.
For local users searching for "RV Parks Near Me" with a focus on visiting Carowinds, Carowinds Camp Wilderness RV offers a strategically advantageous location with the added benefit of a shuttle service. The spacious and shaded sites, along with paved roads, contribute to a comfortable stay. However, potential guests should be aware of the dirt campsites, the lack of cable TV, and the possibility of airplane noise, especially during quieter times. The reported issue with ants also suggests that taking preventative measures might be wise.
Overall, Carowinds Camp Wilderness RV appears to be a reasonably well-regarded option for those primarily interested in its proximity to the amusement park. The positive feedback from returning guests indicates that the park has made improvements over time. However, it's essential to weigh the conveniences against the potential drawbacks mentioned in the reviews to determine if it meets your specific needs and preferences for an RV park stay in the Charlotte area.

Nice, big spaces. Great shade, paved roads, and close to Carowinds (they have a shuttle). Small gift shop. 2 washers and driers on site. Nov 03, 2024 · Chris MorganMuch better than when we stayed about 9 years ago. Not packed with people that live there full time. Sites are mostly dirt. No cable TV. Location was great for us to visit family. Our motorhome got infested with tiny ants. By day 2 they were all over. I spent hours cleaning and spraying to get rid of them. Wish I had a heads-up and would have treated outside and inside before they took over.
Aug 15, 2024 · Elizabeth CooperGreat sites and the staff is very friendly. Nice being right next to the park and they provide a free shuttle every 30 mins.
Mar 14, 2023 · Brenden BeardPaved sites. All sites are full hook ups. Clean. Sites close but not comfortably close. Bath housees are clean and spacious. Free shuttle service to/from Carowinds theme park. Nice pool. Lots of activities.
Jun 02, 2023 · Kevin GlassThis place was just okay when we visited last year. We didn’t like all the mud and dirt due to lack of sunshine getting in to dry things out. A bit too crowded for us also. The RVs are packed in like sardines. Convenient to Carowinds, yes, but worth a visit again? No.
