Cedar Trail RV Park Introduce
If you are searching for "RV parks near me" in the Fort Mitchell, Alabama area, Cedar Trail RV Park, located at 966 AL-165, Fort Mitchell, AL 36856, USA, is an option to consider. You can reach them at (334) 650-5979 or +1 334-650-5979 for inquiries. However, it is crucial to be aware that recent customer reviews paint a picture of a park with significant drawbacks, despite a seemingly reasonable weekly rate and a friendly owner. This introduction aims to provide an objective overview based on the available feedback to help you make an informed decision.
Based on recent experiences, the environment surrounding Cedar Trail RV Park appears to be characterized by significant noise pollution. Multiple reviewers mention substantial "road noise," suggesting that the park's proximity to AL-165 results in considerable traffic sounds. Additionally, there are reports of "light industrial noise and air traffic," further contributing to the ambient noise levels. Perhaps most disruptive for nighttime stays is the "pretty loud" train noise. One reviewer went so far as to describe the park as "one of the loudest places in America we have stayed at." This pervasive noise issue is a significant environmental factor to consider for those seeking a peaceful camping experience.
Beyond the noise, the physical environment of the park itself is described as poorly maintained. One reviewer noted that "the place is covered in weeds/stickers," indicating a lack of upkeep of the grounds. Another guest mentioned that "the camp was not well maintained" and reported a strong odor of "dog poop." These observations suggest that the overall aesthetic and cleanliness of the park may be lacking, which could detract from the enjoyment of your stay.
In terms of services, Cedar Trail RV Park offers limited amenities. On the positive side, they do have "laundry onsite," with a cost of $1.50 per wash and $1.00 per dry. The power poles are also noted as being "new and done right," which is a fundamental and important aspect for RVers. However, beyond these basic necessities, the park appears to lack many of the amenities typically expected at even moderately priced RV parks. Reviewers specifically point out the absence of "picnic tables, no fire rings, no book/DVD library, no wifi, no pool, no walking trails." The lack of these common amenities, especially when compared to the nightly rate charged, is a significant point of contention for visitors.
The features of the RV sites themselves also receive negative feedback. One reviewer describes the sites as being "so close together we could hear our neighbors as well," indicating a lack of privacy and potentially cramped conditions. The construction of the sites using "crushed gravel" is mentioned, and one guest noted that the sites were "not very flat either," which can make leveling an RV challenging and uncomfortable. These factors related to the individual sites contribute to the overall negative impression of the park.
There is conflicting information regarding the spaciousness of the sites. One reviewer initially found the "spots were spacious" during their few-day stay, while another noted the sites were close together. This discrepancy might suggest variability in site size or that the perception of spaciousness changed over time for one of the reviewers due to other negative factors. Regardless, the lack of levelness and the crushed gravel surface appear to be consistent concerns.
Customer service experiences seem to be mixed. One reviewer noted that the "owner was nice," which is a positive aspect. However, the process of checking in was described as somewhat inconvenient, as there was "no office" upon arrival. Guests had to wait for the owners to come from another park they apparently own down the street. While one patient reviewer was "ok with that," they mentioned it as something "some travelers might want to know" as it could be an inconvenience for those with tighter schedules.
Regarding pricing, there is a discrepancy between the advertised online nightly rate of "$40" and the actual charge of "$45." One reviewer expressed frustration with this bait-and-switch, especially considering the lack of amenities. They felt that "$45 a night is resort prices," yet the park did not offer comparable facilities or services. While the "weekly rate was pretty good, of you stay that long," the poor conditions led this reviewer to opt for the more expensive nightly rate just to leave the next morning.
One particularly concerning review mentioned feeling unsafe due to a long-term camper nearby allegedly involved in drug activity. This serious accusation raises significant concerns about the safety and management oversight within the park. While this is a single report, it is a crucial piece of information for potential visitors to consider.
It is mentioned that the "Owners just bought it, so maybe they will improve the place going forward." This provides a glimmer of hope for future improvements. However, based on the current reviews, Cedar Trail RV Park appears to fall significantly short of expectations, especially considering the nightly rate charged. There is no indication of any current promotional offers; in fact, the discrepancy in pricing could be seen as a negative aspect for budget-conscious travelers.
In conclusion, while Cedar Trail RV Park in Fort Mitchell, Alabama, offers a seemingly reasonable weekly rate and has a friendly owner, the overwhelming feedback from recent visitors highlights significant drawbacks. These include pervasive noise from road traffic, industrial activity, air traffic, and trains; poorly maintained grounds with weeds and potential sanitation issues; cramped and unlevel gravel sites; a lack of essential amenities such as picnic tables, fire rings, wifi, and recreational facilities; and potential safety concerns. The discrepancy between the advertised and actual nightly rate further compounds these issues. While there is hope for future improvements under new ownership, based on the current information, travelers searching for "RV parks near me" in the Fort Mitchell area should be aware of these reported conditions before making a reservation at Cedar Trail RV Park.

Cedar Trail RV Park Reviews
Worst place we have stayed all year!First the good. Owner was nice. They have laundry onsite $1.5 a wash $1 to dry. The power poles were new and done right.Weekly rate was pretty good, of you stay that long. Now the bad. The online nightly rate says $40, but he charged me $45. The road noise is bad. There is some light industrial noise and air traffic. Train was pretty loud at night. Sites were so close together we could hear our neighbors as well. With all of that, this is one of the loudest places in America we have stayed at. $45 a night is resort prices, yet there was no picnic tables, no fire rings, no book/DVD library, no wifi, no pool, no walking trails and the place is covered in weeds/stickers.We planned to stay a week and at that rate it is fair, but it was so bad we took the highway robbery option and stayed overnight. Owners just bought it, so maybe they will improve the place going forward. I am not of the opinion that you charge resort prices without providing the amenities. The sites were made with crushed gravel and it was not very flat either.I called before our arrival, but didn't reserve. When we arrived I was a little surprised to not find an office. Apparently they own the park down the street as well, so we had to wait around for them to come up. We are ok with that because we have patience and it let us look around first. Just thought I would mention it because some travelers might want to know.I will put up a picture of our map so other travelers can see, we have traveled extensively and know about good camp sites, which this is definitely not.
Dec 01, 2022 · Chris BloomfieldAt first things seemed ok for my husband and I for a few days and the spots were spacious. After we parked we noticed the camp was not well maintained. Reeked of dog poop. I was informed that the long term camper next to us had drugs going in and out of it. I’m glad we got out of there. I wouldn’t recommend this rv park.
Feb 24, 2025 · Laura LaneVery quiet lowkey Campground. Onsite laundry which is kept extremely clean. Owners are very responsive and accommodating and the caretaker staff are very passionate about their work. 5 minutes from the back gate at Benning (24 hr access gate). Great experience overall with a 3 months stay while at Fort Benning.
May 04, 2023 · Nick DurostNo poop trash cans. Had to walk around with a bag of dog poop untill back at camper.
May 06, 2025 · Carrie TrowbridgeBeautiful park in great location. Many large trees provide a great setting and shade. Park has a laundry facility and I'm told internet and a dog park will be in shortly. Management was great and easy to work with. Park is well maintained and safe for family.
