Chinook RV Park Introduce
Chinook RV Park, situated at 774 Water St in Chinook, Washington, offers a unique draw for those searching under the category "RV parks near me": a "magnificent view of the mouth of the Columbia River" and the iconic Cape Disappointment Lighthouse. Located on Baker Bay, with Ilwaco, Washington, in sight, the park boasts a picturesque setting that could be a significant attraction for travelers seeking scenic beauty along the Washington coast. The park is also noted for its "good rates" and a "nice" and helpful manager who is "great at answering questions." This combination of affordability and positive management interaction could make Chinook RV Park a compelling option for RVers exploring the area.
For individuals specifically looking for "RV parks near me" with stunning waterfront views, Chinook RV Park's location appears to be a standout feature. The proximity to the Columbia River mouth and Cape Disappointment offers opportunities for scenic drives, photography, and exploring the maritime history of the region. The mention of Baker Bay and nearby Ilwaco further suggests access to coastal activities and attractions. The good rates are also a significant factor for budget-conscious travelers seeking value in their RV park accommodations.
Environment and Atmosphere:
The most striking aspect of the environment surrounding Chinook RV Park is undoubtedly the breathtaking view. Being located at the "end of our driveway (the entrance to the RV Park)" with a direct line of sight to the mouth of the Columbia River and Cape Disappointment Lighthouse provides an unparalleled visual experience. The setting on Baker Bay adds to the coastal charm and likely offers a tranquil waterfront atmosphere. The proximity to Ilwaco suggests a small-town coastal environment with its own local character and amenities.
While the review doesn't extensively describe the park's internal layout or landscaping, the emphasis on the external views indicates that the natural surroundings are a primary draw. The "well kept for the most part" comment suggests that the grounds are generally maintained, with regular upkeep being performed.
Services and Management:
The review provides positive feedback regarding the park's management. The manager is described as "nice" and "great at answering questions," indicating a helpful and communicative point of contact for guests. This can significantly enhance the overall experience, especially for first-time visitors or those with inquiries during their stay. The mention of "all regular maintenance is done" suggests that essential infrastructure and upkeep are being addressed, contributing to the functionality of the park.
However, a significant concern is raised regarding the cleanliness of the facilities, specifically the bathroom. The reviewer noted that after a long weekend of camping, the bathroom had not been cleaned thoroughly even once. While supplies like soap and tissue were maintained, indicating some level of oversight, the lack of regular janitorial service and the persistence of messes throughout the weekend are significant drawbacks. This issue could be a major deterrent for travelers who prioritize clean and sanitary restroom facilities.
Features and Benefits for RVers:
Based on the available information, Chinook RV Park offers several features and benefits that might appeal to RV travelers:
- Magnificent Views: Direct views of the Columbia River mouth and Cape Disappointment Lighthouse.
- Waterfront Location: Situated on Baker Bay, offering a coastal environment.
- Good Rates: The park is noted for its affordable pricing.
- Helpful Manager: The manager is described as nice and knowledgeable.
- Regular Maintenance: Essential upkeep of the park appears to be consistent.
- Proximity to Attractions: Located near Ilwaco and the scenic beauty of the Washington coast.
Potential Drawbacks and Concerns:
The primary concern highlighted in the review is the inadequate cleaning of the bathroom facilities. This appears to be a recurring issue throughout the reviewer's stay, suggesting a lack of consistent and thorough janitorial service. For many RV travelers, clean and well-maintained restrooms are a fundamental expectation, and this reported deficiency could significantly impact the overall satisfaction of their stay. While other aspects of the park, such as maintenance and management interaction, receive positive feedback, the cleanliness issue is a notable drawback that potential visitors should be aware of.
The lack of further details about other amenities, such as laundry facilities, Wi-Fi, or recreational areas, makes it difficult to provide a comprehensive assessment of the park's offerings. However, the focus on the scenic views and affordability suggests that Chinook RV Park might cater to travelers who prioritize these aspects over extensive amenities.
Promotional Information and Community Perception:
The stunning views of the Columbia River mouth and Cape Disappointment serve as the most compelling promotional aspect of Chinook RV Park. The visual appeal of this location is undeniable and could be a major draw for tourists and nature enthusiasts. The mention of "good rates" further enhances its appeal to budget-conscious travelers. The positive feedback regarding the manager's helpfulness contributes to a perception of a welcoming and accommodating service.
However, the significant concern about bathroom cleanliness needs to be considered alongside these positive aspects. While the park offers natural beauty and affordability, the lack of thorough cleaning could detract from the overall experience for many visitors. Potential promotional efforts should address this issue to ensure accurate expectations and potentially highlight any improvements made in this area.
Local users considering Chinook RV Park should weigh the exceptional views and affordable rates against the reported cleanliness issues. If scenic beauty and budget are primary concerns, and travelers are prepared for potentially less-than-ideal bathroom conditions, the park might still be a viable option. However, those who prioritize cleanliness and comprehensive amenities might need to consider other "RV parks near me" in the vicinity.

The manager is reported to be helpful and the overall maintenance of the park is generally satisfactory. However, a significant drawback is the reported lack of thorough cleaning, particularly in the bathroom facilities. Local users searching for "RV parks near me" should carefully consider this aspect alongside the undeniable scenic beauty and affordability. Chinook RV Park Reviews
At the end of our driveway (the entrance to the RV Park) is a magnificent view of the mouth of the Columbia River, Cape Disappointment Lighthouse. It sits on Baker Bay with Ilwaco,Washington. Here are some photos I took from my driveway:
Nov 08, 2017 · DJ GanoeWe really appreciated the good rates! The manager is nice, great at answering questions. The park is well kept for the most part. It seems like all regular maintenance is done. But the actual cleaning, particularly the bathroom, was really disappointing. After a long weekend of camping, the bathroom hadn't been cleaned thoroughly once. Stock didn't run out, so someone must have been keeping an eye on soap/tissue. But there were messes there for the whole weekend that would have been cleaned if there was a regular janitor. Just be aware, cleaning is an issue.
Sep 11, 2023 · Ally MosaiWe stayed here a long time ago, early summer of 2005. It was one of the nicest RV parks we stayed in on our whole trip. The staff were so outgoing and friendly. At that time the park was gravel and grass, looks like from google maps a large portion of it is paved now. The bathrooms and common areas were spotlessly clean. Would love to stay there again someday and relive that trip.
Nov 09, 2018 · Paul McIlrathIt's a beautiful park i'm not gonna lie and we really wanted to live there but our credit sucks and the current place won't give us a good review cause he doesn't want us to go....So they kept my background check money... 75 bucks down the drain which isn't fair in the least.. I will be checking into that for sure... words of caution don't give them money unless your darn tooting you have good credit. They wouldn't give us a chance at all...
Jul 27, 2021 · Eric SmithWe just drove up to this place as we were in the area and luckily they had a spot for us. We truly enjoyed our stay. The place is very quiet and very clean. The location right across from the river is beautiful. It’s very close to Cape Disappointment which is a must see.
