Citrus Hills RV Park Introduce
Citrus Hills RV Park, located at 5401 Boca Grande Cir in Dover, Florida, presents itself as an option within the "RV parks near me" category for those seeking both short and potentially long-term stays in the Tampa Bay area. Situated in Dover, a location that offers proximity to Tampa while maintaining a more rural setting, Citrus Hills RV Park has received mixed reviews from past guests, highlighting both its strengths and areas that may require consideration for prospective visitors.
For inquiries regarding availability, site details, amenities, and pricing, Citrus Hills RV Park can be contacted at (813) 737-4770 or via their mobile phone at +1 813-737-4770. Direct communication with the park management is essential to obtain the most current and detailed information and to address any specific concerns based on the varied feedback received from previous guests.
Several reviewers have shared positive experiences at Citrus Hills RV Park. One guest who stayed for an extended period from June to November described it as their "favorite park to date," surpassing numerous other RV parks they had visited. They specifically praised the consistently clean and warm showers and the overall beauty, peacefulness, and quietness of the area, making it ideal for relaxation. This reviewer also highlighted special events such as fireworks and cookouts for the Fourth of July, which contributed to a fantastic experience.
Another positive review emphasized the "huge yard" available at their site and the "nice and well-maintained" laundry facilities. The management received high praise, with "Sam" being described as "so sweet and accommodating." The reviewer appreciated the flexibility shown by the management in allowing them to move sites to extend their stay before traveling. The prices were considered "very reasonable," and the park's location was noted as a perfect balance—close enough to Tampa for convenience but far enough to maintain a peaceful atmosphere. This guest's entire family, including their dog, enjoyed their stay, and they found the presence of a baby gator outside to be a unique and entertaining feature.
These positive reviews suggest that Citrus Hills RV Park has the potential to offer a pleasant and comfortable stay, characterized by friendly and accommodating management, clean facilities (particularly showers and laundry), spacious sites, a peaceful environment, and reasonable pricing. The proximity to Tampa offers access to urban amenities and attractions, while the Dover location provides a quieter, more relaxed setting.
However, not all feedback has been entirely positive. One reviewer expressed a rating that was "almost a 3, but not quite," pointing out several significant issues. The condition of the picnic table at their site was criticized as being unusable due to splinters. More concerning were issues with the RV site itself (site 135), including a sewer connection that was above grade and interfered with drainage, and low but manageable water pressure. The reviewer also noted a lack of cleanliness upon arrival, finding a bag of dog poop left on their picnic table.
This reviewer also raised concerns about the facilities. The laundry was described as "adequate" with "old top load machines" costing $1.75 each. The bathrooms were noted as being in "dire need of remodel and repair" and were generally not kept clean, except for the Sunday night before their Monday departure. Specific issues included running out of hand towels, a plugged toilet, and shavings all over the sink.
Furthermore, this reviewer pointed out a surcharge for electricity, which is an important cost consideration for potential long-term stays. A significant observation was the presence of "LOTS of units abandoned or just wasting away" and "Junk everywhere on most sites," suggesting a lack of overall upkeep and aesthetic appeal in certain areas of the park. The reviewer also noted a large number of cats roaming freely and a high percentage of full-time residents (approximately 80%). While the check-in staff were described as "very nice and courteous," the reviewer ultimately could not recommend the park, using strong language ("trailer trash") to describe the general atmosphere and suggesting that many residents showed little regard for courtesy rules.
This critical review paints a contrasting picture, highlighting potential issues with site conditions, outdated and poorly maintained facilities, cleanliness concerns (particularly in the bathrooms), and a potentially unkempt overall appearance due to abandoned units and junk on some sites. The presence of a large number of full-time residents and roaming cats might also be a factor for some travelers to consider.
Considering these mixed reviews, Citrus Hills RV Park presents a complex picture. While some guests have had very positive experiences with the management, cleanliness of certain facilities, spacious sites, and peaceful environment, others have encountered significant drawbacks related to site infrastructure, the condition and cleanliness of other facilities, and the overall upkeep and atmosphere of the park. Prospective visitors should carefully weigh these contrasting perspectives.
Given the lack of specific promotional information in the reviews, it is essential to contact the park management directly to inquire about current rates, any special offers for short or long-term stays, and any policies regarding electricity surcharges, pet fees, or other potential costs. Understanding the full financial implications is crucial before making a reservation.
In conclusion, Citrus Hills RV Park in Dover, Florida, offers a location near Tampa with the potential for a peaceful stay and friendly management, as highlighted by some reviewers. However, other feedback indicates significant concerns regarding site conditions, the state of the bathrooms, overall cleanliness, and the general appearance of the park due to abandoned units and untidy sites. Potential guests are strongly advised to contact the park management directly to address these contrasting points, inquire about the current conditions and any ongoing improvements, and determine if Citrus Hills RV Park meets their individual standards and expectations for an "RV park near me" in the Dover area.

Citrus Hills RV Park Reviews
We stayed at this RV park from June to November last year, and it has been our favorite park to date. We've stayed at numerous parks since, but none have compared to this one. The showers were always clean and warm, and the area is absolutely beautiful. It was peaceful and quiet, perfect for relaxing. They even did fireworks and cookouts for the Fourth of July while we were there, which was a fantastic experience. We had a huge yard, and the laundry facilities were nice and well-maintained. The management was the nicest we've ever experienced—Sam was so sweet and accommodating. We needed to stay longer, and they allowed us to move spots for the final week before we went traveling, which was incredibly helpful. The prices are very reasonable, and the park is close to Tampa but not too close, offering a perfect balance. My whole family loved it, even the dog! And the baby gator outside was always so fun to see!Overall, this is my favorite park to date, and we will definitely be going back when we visit family! Highly recommend!
Feb 08, 2025 · anika bakerAlmost a 3, but not quite. Perhaps if the picnic table was useable instead of a factory for splinters… alas, that was not the real issue. Let’s start with the site (135): sewer connection above grade enough to interfere with draining, water pressure low but manageable, souvenir bag of dog poop left on picnic table. Facilities: laundry adequate with old top load machines. $1.75 each; bathrooms in dire need of remodel and repair. Furthermore, it wasn’t kept clean except for Sunday night (we left Monday). Ran out of hand towels, plugged toilet, shavings all over sink. Overall: Surcharge for electricity. LOTS of units abandoned or just wasting away. Junk everywhere on most sites. Lots of cats roaming freely everywhere. Some folks trying to make their spots nice. Most don’t care. Probably 80% full-time residents. Folks at check-in very nice and courteous. Unfortunately, we can’t recommend unless you don’t mind the “trailer trash”. Seems most people there have little regard for courtesy rules.
Jan 21, 2025 · Jamie & Marj HambletThis is a great family run RV park that they take pride in! It's pet friendly, has big sites and people are friendly. There's not a whole lot of activities compared to other parks and no pool, but the monthly rates are low. We love it as we have been at much higher priced parks that had tons of services that we didn't use. If you're the same as us....this may be the the park for you. It's in a great location just 5 minutes east of Brandon FL....so it's close to Brandon, Plant City and Tampa.Where you drive into the park, this is the oldest part of the park. This part has some run down looking rvs....mostly permanent residents in this section. There are so many trees all over the old section that it can look dirty from all the leaves that fall and the grass hardly grows up there. But don't let this scare you. As you continue on it the park it's really nice. However, if you're looking for "posh" with all beautifully manicured lawns. ....this isn't the place for you.
Jan 30, 2019 · B WooleyWe have lived here full time for 8 months now and will probably be here till Jesus comes back!! We love it!! The rates are far better than anywhere else and it includes water, you just pay your electric. They take great care of the lawns. It’s so nice to know the staff are taking care of our mail and deliveries. Pam and Peggy are wonderful!! We had to transfer here from Utah and Pam was great to work with from Utah and we drove right in to our lot when we got here. We are grateful to have found our permanent home here at Citrus Hill😊😊
