Lake Haven Retreat Introduce
For local users searching for "rv parks near me" in the Indianapolis, Indiana area, Lake Haven Retreat, located at 1739 W Edgewood Ave, Indianapolis, IN 46217, USA, presents itself as an option. Based on the available customer reviews, the park offers a convenient location for exploring the city and its surroundings, along with certain amenities that cater to RV travelers. However, the reviews also highlight areas where the park may need improvement, particularly in customer service.
One positive aspect of Lake Haven Retreat, as noted by a recurring visitor, is its "perfect location for visiting Indy and surrounding area’s." This suggests that its proximity to major attractions, transportation routes, and urban conveniences makes it a strategically situated RV park for those looking to explore the Indianapolis metropolitan area. This is a significant advantage for local users who may have family or friends in the city or who wish to use the RV park as a base for local excursions without venturing too far from home.
In terms of services and features, one reviewer mentioned having a "nice pull thru (30 amp) site" with "good connections." Pull-thru sites are particularly beneficial for RVers as they eliminate the need to back in, making setup and departure easier. The availability of 30 amp electrical service is a standard offering in many RV parks, catering to the power needs of a significant number of RVs. The positive comment about "good connections" likely refers to the reliability and functionality of the utility hookups provided at the site, such as electricity, water, and sewer (though sewer hookups were not explicitly mentioned in this positive review).
For pet owners, Lake Haven Retreat appears to be accommodating. The reviewer noted "lots of areas to walk our dog" and the provision of "poopie bags for dog waste pickup." These are valuable amenities for RVers traveling with pets, indicating that the park is pet-friendly and encourages responsible pet ownership. This can be a significant factor for local users who consider their pets an integral part of their travel experience.
The same positive review also mentions a "new building" that is "really nice." This suggests that the park has recently undergone some improvements to its facilities, which could enhance the overall guest experience. However, the specific amenities within this new building are not detailed, so potential guests would need to inquire further to understand what it offers (e.g., restrooms, showers, laundry, common area).
A potential drawback mentioned in the positive review is that they "only have 1 large trash dumpster located at the gate." This could be inconvenient for guests whose sites are located further away from the entrance, requiring them to travel a distance to dispose of their trash. For longer stays, this might be a consideration for local users.
The review also notes that "with all the property that they lost with the new highway, I think they have done a great job with improving the RV park." This provides some context about potential challenges the park has faced due to infrastructure changes and suggests that the management has made efforts to maintain and upgrade the facilities despite these challenges.
However, another, more critical review presents a contrasting perspective, primarily focusing on a negative customer service experience. This reviewer described being "chased" to their site by an employee for alleged speeding, a confrontation that escalated, leading to the reviewer and their party being asked to leave. The reviewer expressed dissatisfaction with the handling of the situation and described the park as "just a gravel lot in an industrial area," suggesting a less than desirable environment compared to a traditional campground. They also criticized the customer service, recounting a negative interaction with an employee while they were departing.
This negative review raises concerns about the park's management style, customer service practices, and potentially the overall ambiance if it is indeed located in or near an industrial area. For local users considering Lake Haven Retreat for a stay, it would be prudent to weigh this negative experience against the positive feedback regarding location and some amenities.
Given the conflicting nature of the reviews, it is difficult to form a definitive picture of Lake Haven Retreat's overall environment, services, and features. While the positive review highlights a convenient location, pull-thru sites, pet-friendliness, and recent improvements, the negative review points to potential issues with customer service and the aesthetic quality of the park. No promotional information, such as discounts or special offers, is mentioned in either review.
For local users searching for "rv parks near me" in Indianapolis, Lake Haven Retreat offers a location with reported ease of access to the city. It appears to provide basic RV amenities like pull-thru sites with 30 amp service and is pet-friendly. However, potential guests should be aware of the contrasting feedback regarding customer service and the environment. It would be advisable to contact Lake Haven Retreat directly using the provided phone numbers, (317) 783-5267 or +1 317-783-5267, to inquire about the current state of the park, its amenities (especially those in the new building), policies, and to get a better sense of the environment and customer service approach. Reading more recent reviews on other platforms might also provide a more balanced and up-to-date perspective.
In conclusion, Lake Haven Retreat in Indianapolis offers a conveniently located RV park with some positive features like pull-thru sites and pet-friendly policies. However, potential local users should be aware of the reported negative customer service experience and the description of the park as a "gravel lot in an industrial area." Direct communication with the park management is recommended to gather current information and determine if Lake Haven Retreat meets individual needs and expectations for an RV stay in the Indianapolis area.

Lake Haven Retreat Reviews
Have stayed here several times. Location is perfect for visiting Indy and surrounding area’s. Had a nice pull thur (30 amp) site. Good connections. Lots of areas to walk our dog. They supply poopie bags for dog waste pickup. The new building is really nice. They only have 1 large trash dumpster located at the gate. With all the property that they lost with the new highway, I think they have done a great job with improving the RV park. Great stop over!
Mar 25, 2025 · Gary RitchisonEdit: response to campground. Nothing said in as you called is "my side of the story" is a lie.I will start off this review by stating, "Yes, I could have handled the situation better. Was chased to my site by someone working for the campground. Was told I was speeding and that they were tracking me. I said I wasn't, which they didn't want to hear. The employee would not listen to me and only made it worse by trying to throw everything at me that he could think of. I told him to get the F out of here. That's the part I could have handled better ,but I was extremely irritated after a long day that someone had followed me to my site. We were told to leave, or the cops would be called. No problem, we left and found a place that is actually a campground, not just a gravel lot in an industrial area. They need to work on their customer service. As I was packing up to leave, this wonderful person decided to drive by smiling and laughing. What a great way to treat your customers. Do yourself a favor, find somewhere else to stay.
Apr 04, 2025 · Bill HeldmanThis rv park should consider dropping “retreat” from its name; it is anything but a retreat (especially since it’s located in the middle of an industrial park). The sites are super close together and difficult to maneuver because of rocks and posts placed throughout the park. It’s more like a gravel parking lot.
Apr 10, 2025 · Cindy SmithNice, level spot with full hookups. Our spot overlooked the "lake" which was almost dry and not appealing to look at, but not the campground's fault. Plenty of room to walk out dog on the grass and except for the road work taking place on the interstate, it was pretty quiet. Lot's of permanent residents, but again, it was quiet. We were in town for a conference and it was very convenient to our meeting place. The laundry and bathhouse looked very nice, though we didn't use them. If we come back, to Indy, we might stay here again, depending on our schedule.
Oct 22, 2024 · Trey HarrisGouged me on price, left me a message saying they had a monthly spot available then switched up and told me they didn't so they could charge me 350+ a week then proceeded to tell me I need to park my truck 200 yards from my camper and walk. If you value you time money and sanity avoid this scam, there's not even a lake.
