Mercer Lake Resort Introduce
For local users searching for "RV parks near me" that offer a unique blend of lakeside relaxation and proximity to the Oregon Coast, Mercer Lake Resort, located at 88875 Bayberry Ln, Florence, OR 97439, USA, presents an appealing option. While it offers cabin rentals rather than traditional RV hookups, its features and environment cater to those seeking a family-friendly outdoor experience with access to both a quaint lake and nearby coastal attractions.
The environment at Mercer Lake Resort is centered around the picturesque Mercer Lake, a serene body of water situated just a short drive from the beach. Many of the cabins are ideally located right on the lakefront, allowing guests to enjoy stunning views, particularly at sunrise, directly from their decks while enjoying a morning beverage. The peaceful ambiance of the lake, with the sounds of frogs at night, offers a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life, especially during the quieter off-season months like April, May, September, and October.
While not a traditional RV park with dedicated hookups, Mercer Lake Resort provides cozy cabin accommodations suitable for families and individuals. Reviews indicate that the cabins, though described as small and possessing a more rustic feel rather than luxury, are generally well-equipped with kitchen necessities. Some cabins feature sleeper sofas, which may be more suitable for children or those who don't require premium sleeping comfort. For those prioritizing privacy in bathing facilities, it's recommended to inquire about cabins with private showers, as the public women's bathroom reportedly has only one shower stall with a glass door, offering limited privacy.
One of the standout services at Mercer Lake Resort is the exceptional hospitality of the hosts, who are consistently described as friendly and helpful. Additionally, the convenience of a small camp store on-site provides access to snacks, drinks, and beer at prices considered reasonable for such a setting. This adds to the overall convenience and enjoyment of the stay, ensuring that basic needs are easily met without having to leave the resort.
Mercer Lake itself is a major feature of the resort, offering a variety of recreational activities for all ages. A fun water trampoline obstacle course provides entertainment for children and adults alike, while a dock and designated swimming area allow for enjoyable lake activities. For relaxation, a small communal hot tub is located nearby. The resort is also pet-friendly, allowing guests to bring their dogs along to enjoy the vacation experience.
For those looking to explore beyond the resort, Mercer Lake's location is ideal. Pontoon boat rentals are available for leisurely excursions on the lake. Furthermore, its proximity to Florence means that guests have easy access to the stunning Oregon dunes and beaches. Nature enthusiasts will appreciate the quick two-minute drive to Darlingtonia State Park, home to unique carnivorous plants. The iconic Heceta Head Lighthouse and the fascinating Sea Lion Caves are also within a short driving distance, providing ample opportunities for day trips and exploration of the local area.
While some reviewers noted that the resort has a more rustic charm and could benefit from some updates, particularly in certain cabins, the overall experience seems positive, especially when considering the value and the array of activities available. One reviewer who stayed in cabin number 9 during a last-minute Fourth of July trip mentioned an "absolute best view" but also noted the cabin's small size and some maintenance issues like poor curtains, missing window screens leading to bugs, lack of air conditioning and fans making it very hot, and noise from its proximity to the boat dock. However, this same reviewer enthusiastically praised the family-friendly atmosphere and the special touches provided by the owners, such as movie nights, dance parties with popcorn and roasted marshmallows, and even breakfast on a holiday weekend. While it's unclear if these special events occur every weekend, they highlight the owners' commitment to creating a memorable experience for their guests.
Based on the reviews, visiting during the shoulder seasons (April/May and September/October) might be ideal for those wanting to enjoy swimming and the lake activities with fewer crowds. The weather during these times can still be warm enough for swimming, and the peaceful atmosphere allows for a more relaxed getaway.
In conclusion, Mercer Lake Resort offers a unique vacation experience for local users seeking a blend of lakeside fun and coastal exploration near Florence. With its lakefront cabins, engaging water activities like the trampoline and pontoon rentals, pet-friendly policy, and proximity to various natural attractions, it caters well to families and those looking for a more rustic and activity-filled retreat. While some cabins may be basic and the resort can get crowded during peak summer months, the friendly hosts and the array of things to do both on and off-site make Mercer Lake Resort a worthwhile consideration for your next local getaway. Mercer Lake Resort Reviews
Mercer Lake is a quaint little lake just a few minutes from the beach. Most cabins are right on the lake so you can drink your morning coffee on your deck and watch the sun come up on the lake. The cabins were small but cozy and the kitchen had everything we needed. The "sofa" sleeper was a very basic futon and I would not have found it comfortable but my teenager who can sleep anywhere did not seem to mind it. The two bedrooms slept the rest of us just fine. There is only 1 shower stall in the public womems bathroom and it's a glass door so not the most private so I'd recommend a cabin with a shower if that detail would matter to you.The hosts were very friendly and helpful and the little camp store has snacks, drinks, and beer for sale at reasonable prices for a camp store. The lake itself has a fun water trampoline obstacle course, dock, and swimming area. There is also a small communal hot tub right near by. Lots of stuff for the kids to do. Pet friendly, our dogs had a great time.Pontoon rental was super fun too!I'd consider this a more rustic feel than luxury and I could see some areas in need of updating but it worked great for our family and kids during the off season as it was not crowded then and the owners appeared to be working on many projects at the place to keep improving it.I could see the small beach area getting pretty crowded during summer. April / May and Sept /October would probably be great months to visit to still be able to swim and not have a crowd. It was very peaceful during April and warm enough to swim on a sunny day. The only sounds we heard at night were frogs. It's worth a quick stop at the Darlingtonia state park to see the carnivorous plants, 2 minute drive from the lake and a 2 minute paved walk to see them!Florence also has great dunes and beaches and the Heceta head Lighthouse and Sea Lion caves are also a quick drive as well so lots to do in the area.
Apr 13, 2025 · Krista Rosethis was a last min trip and was able to get a cabin last min on fourth of July. Cabin number 9 has an absolute best view but the cabin is extremely tiny and run down. Curtains aren't great no screens on most of the windows so you get a lot of bugs flying in. also no ac so it extremely hot and no fan is provided so bring one! and it's right in front of the boat dock so lots and lots of noise. very family friendly place and everyone was extremely nice. We really loved all the special touches the owners do like movie night and a dance party with popcorn and roasted marshmallows and even breakfast was made in the morning. yes this was a holiday weekend so idk if all of those things are every weekend but man what great place.
Mar 02, 2025 · Heather LinnA beautiful resort located just on the outskirts of Florence. Our family has been here a few times. Each experience the same: cozy and clean cabins, beautifully maintained resort, and fantastic staff to make sure you have everything you need. Mercer Lake Resort is a staple in our family’s yearly traditions. Check them out. You will not be disappointed!
Sep 30, 2024 · Victoria KetterlingMercer Lake Resort offers, RV & camping sites as well as a few cabin rentals. My review only speaks to our reservation at cabin #9. This cabin is listed as a 1 bedroom "house" with a hot tub, but this is definitely misleading. It is not a house, it's an old converted camper or mobile home of sorts? There is a very small bedroom but the additional room cannot be classified as a "living room" as there is no sofa or seating other than an additional bed, so basically it's another bedroom. Regarding the hot tub; Please note this is not a private hot tub, it is situated at the lakeside and to access it you need to walk down the boat ramp. Furthermore, during our 2 night stay, the hot tub was not functional (freezing cold water). The deck it is mounted on was dirty, with green moss all over the place as well as having an old garden hose hanging out the side. We stayed at this place whilst doing the Pacific Coast road trip and of all the accommodations (beach cottage / hotel / resort & motel) Mercer Lake Resort was the worst! Overpriced and underwhelming. It must be noted we did contact management directly when we arrived and were told someone would get back to us, which never happened (even after a second email). Bottom line: We really expected a little better for $129 per night. Apart from the hot tub issue the shower had a broken handle and there were dirty cracked windows!
Mar 10, 2024 · robpenabelRented a pontoon boat and loved this experience. We traveled the lake with no problems and even spent some time on the dock fishing (hooked a rainbow trout). Traveling with little ones, they burned off some energy on the obstacle course floats they have. We did not stay in the cabins, but i would think they are a great time saver to be on the lake and get all the extras the resort has to offer!
