This positive first impression highlights several key aspects of Oak Island Village. The emphasis on a quiet and friendly atmosphere suggests a community where residents can enjoy peace and tranquility while also benefiting from positive social interactions with their neighbors. The mention of being "nice and clean" indicates that the community takes pride in its upkeep and strives to maintain an aesthetically pleasing environment. Furthermore, the existence of "plenty of recreational perks" suggests that Oak Island Village offers amenities that contribute to an active and enjoyable lifestyle for its residents, setting it apart from more basic "RV parks near me."
Another review from a current resident provides more specific details about the environment and amenities at Oak Island Village. This resident confirms the quiet nature of the community and praises the staff as "nice and helpful," indicating that residents can expect a positive and supportive management presence. A significant feature highlighted in this review is the close proximity to not one, but potentially two lakes in the area, with the resident estimating a travel time of "maybe 5 minutes if that from 1 of 2 lakes." This lakeside proximity offers residents the opportunity to enjoy water-based recreational activities, contributing to the overall appeal of the location for those who appreciate natural surroundings and outdoor pursuits. This is a significant advantage that many typical "RV parks near me" might not offer.
Beyond the natural environment, Oak Island Village also boasts a range of on-site recreational facilities. The resident specifically mentions "a great pool," suggesting a well-maintained amenity for relaxation and exercise during warmer months. The presence of a "fitness center" caters to residents who prioritize their physical well-being and provides a convenient option for staying active without having to leave the community. For sports enthusiasts, the "basketball courts" offer a space for friendly competition and physical activity, potentially fostering a sense of community through shared recreational interests. Families with children will appreciate the "play area for the kids," providing a safe and designated space for children to play and socialize, further enhancing the family-friendly nature of Oak Island Village, which might be a key differentiator from some "RV parks near me."
The review also explicitly states that Oak Island Village is "pet friendly," which is a significant consideration for many individuals and families. Notably, the community "sadly most breeds of dogs are accepted," indicating a welcoming attitude towards pet owners and their furry companions, although it's advisable for prospective residents with specific dog breeds to confirm any potential restrictions with the management. The resident concludes by reiterating the positive social environment, stating that "the people are nice here I have not had any problems with any of the people or staff here." This reinforces the earlier sentiment of a friendly community and helpful management, contributing to a positive overall living experience that can be a major advantage over some "RV parks near me" where community may be less emphasized.

My mom moved into this mobile home park. It appears to be a quiet and friendly place to live. Nice and clean, plenty of recreational perks, too.My mom will bring more to the park, as she loves our Lord and Savior, Jesus, and she already met some Christ following neighbors.Praise the Lord!

May 22, 2019 · DRK_ Lion1Lot rent is overpriced. Rebecca has been helpful. But Josh is negligent. He makes promises he doesn't keep. (When buying my mobile home the blinds where all messed up, as part of the deal he ordered new blinds and said he'd install them once we moved in since the parts were on back order. Not once has he attempted to follow through with that promise. He never follows up. They give you numbers to call the office but rarely pick up. They leave early, often before they are supposed to be closed. If Rebecca goes on lunch, you can make a safe bet that he will not answer. If you want to be paying $700 a month to live in a home you bought on a tiny plot of land that you don't own and can't control (no fireplace or fence allowed). This is the place for you. Just keep in mind they will lean heavily on the mortgage option, because they have a sweet deal with the mortgage company that they are "partnered" with. A company that also has had a class action lawsuit against them. Or at least that was the deal they offered me.Like other users said. They do offer some community events. Have a private gym that is accessible 24/7 (except when it's not). Garbage service is included. It's quiet for the most part and if you're lucky, you'll have nice neighbors. Honestly rent is really what's got me here. If it was $500 or $600 I could excuse the rest. But they are not willing to make exceptions. In fact they are court happy. They will threaten you with legal action any time they can. Not coming to your house in person, but going outside their office and putting it in your mailbox (you know the one that every resident has to come up to grab their mail from because there are no mailboxes allowed on your lot.)If you're in between a hard place and a new place, this is your stop. Since you're desperate they can take advantage (they being sunhomes) not Josh and Rebecca who are just people doing their jobs (all be it, below satisfaction). If you do live here, who you really need to take it up with is the owner of the land who has hired sunhomes to manage it.2/5 Rating
Dec 01, 2022 · Matt MorfordThis place was home for my family for 3 years, and served its purpose while we saved to buy a home. Our trailer was in decent condition and a newer model. It is one of the cleaner, well kept parks around. Any place you go there will always be problems, so there is nothing more I can say there. The rent is very high, and goes up every year no matter what. If you do not buy the trailer after a couple years they want you out. So much happened during the 3 years I lived here, I do not have time to post it all. My overall experience here I think 3 stars is fair.
Aug 31, 2019 · Brandi BauerSave your time and money. Save your sanity.DON'T MOVE HERE.We rented a home here. Paid everything on-time. Went above and beyond to take care of the rental, including removing a thick layer of grease from the kitchen cupboards, furnace face plate, walls, and stove. Removed and remounted the glass/screen door after realizing that it wouldn't close. Insulated the doors with weather seals to stop the rain and snow from continuing to enter the home. None of the expenses were reimbursed. After moving in we noticed a flea infestation in the home. The park got an exterminator, but it took two months of poison and vacuuming every single day to clear it up.We bought a house and gave almost 2 months notice that we would be vacating the property early, expecting to pay rent until occupied. Within days of notifying management we were issued a lawn mowing violation [our first and only] threatening us to mow or pay fines within 3 days. This came even though there was an active drought, most of the lawns were dead, the green part was mowed, and even the maintenance guy hadn't mowed his taller-than-ours grass. It was juvenile and vindictive.Exit inspection manager was advised that maintenance guy had told us not to spackle or paint since "he'd be doing it again, anyway." Manager noted that I had, indeed, patched nail-holes in walls and didn't paint. He stated to me that new tenants were leasing within 3 days, that charges would not be made due to what we'd been told by maintenance, and that we would be signed out without fees. I assumed we'd still have a utility payment of some sort.We received a final statement and then an adjusted bill, as expected. It showed that we owed 23 days rent. When I contacted the park they stated that previous manager left, they couldn't help me, and to write corporate with concerns about the final adjustment. Instead, we paid the bill just to be done dealing with them.Less than 3 months after leaving we received a notice of collections by mail and then phone calls started. Oak Island sent us to collections within 2 months of vacating, only 1 month after our adjusted bill, and without other notifications.Sun Communities and Oak Island are terribly unorganized, absolutely unhelpful in resolving these problems, and will go to any length to short-change their customers.Save your time and money. Save your sanity.DON'T MOVE HERE.
